Do you know this for sure? I REALLY hope this is true. I'm not bothering with this game if it uses SF (I'm an SF boycotter), but I REALLY want this game badly. I loved FO1...I still play it often. FO2 is my most wanted game ever for the PC. Truth.

Gawd, I hope the American version IS Securom....I won't be afraid of buying and installing it then. I've gotten burned too many times by SF games already to purposely buy another one.

How sure are you of this info? Just because the American publisher generally uses Securom doesn't mean that this game will automatically use it. Are you just guessing based on the publisher's track record or do you KNOW?

Meh...either way, I guess we'll all find out when it releases here.....I'll either be deleriously happy to play the game or severely disappointed that I don't dare to install it on my PC.

I need confirmation on the protection to be used in the American version. My potential purchase of this game depends on it.

I'll be sure to keep a lookout here at GCW fileforums for the final determination on which protection is used on the American version.

Now I'm all excited for the game again...because of this rumor.

I don't know if i may post this one. I found a way to play Flatout 2 just without having to use an external DVD drive. At Gamecopyworld there stands a game called X3 Reunion. When u download the fixed image u get allot of files and also a readme where stands what u have to do to make that game work. Well also that works with Flatout 2. Before u are gonna try this directly then u should first uninstall Flatout 2 if u have it installed. Also remove everything in your register of Flatout 2. When u then follow each step then u can make it to work.

The most usefull is to burn the blindwrite 6 image to a dvd and make an .mdf file of that dvd with Alcohol 120% so u can mount it in Daemon Tools.

If it isn't working contact me at speeder.daowner********com

For all who make it working, yeah i know im good to share that information with others.

Where's the sense in that ? What's the advantage over just creating an Alcohol image right from the start ?

What motherboard do you have ? S-ATA HDD's ?

ziupo 16-07-2006 07:15

not working :/
tested at nforce2 + sata :/

PS: speedy3338 - this work only with SF 3.

not worked

TONNI_PT 17-07-2006 07:05

Flatout 2 WORKS on vista beta 2 +spd 1.25 driver and an mds mdf file...

Instrucions:

Get the daemon plugin to mount bw6 images...(go to daemon forum and search)
you install this by overwritting the dll file in C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools\Plugins\Images\bw5mount.dll...(hxxp://www.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~dtbartle/bw5mount.zip) [daemon must be off in order to properly overwrite the new dll file ;-) ]
Then mount the bw6 flatout 2 image in daemon.
Now go to alchool 120 run the image creation wizard don´t change any setting, and create an image of flatout in mdf format....
Now go to hxxp://www.copybase.ch/PHPV2/Database/Dpm.Download/1514 and download this mini image made from an original flatout 2 disk...
Rename this mini image to match the name of your mdf image.
I have my optical drives unplugged from power supply so i don´t know if it works with drives plugged in...
Now mount this renamed image in daemon with all emulation options off and PLAY.

This works on vista beta 2 build 5384 ( the public beta from microsoft site )

I hope i helped you guys :)

dannywooly 17-07-2006 13:44

I don't understand why the game manufacturers don't just put a blank DVD in the case with a copy of the game on it! Thus having two DVD and no need for a backup. Simple really!

ziupo 17-07-2006 14:14

TONNI_PT - sorry, but not worked! I have 2 images: .iso and .mdf, i create bw6 iimage from iso and from mdf, anyone not worked

Thx for the Info, so I will wait and buy the US-Version.
Topic really should be closed... enough info so far to this nice SF4 Version.
.. and, greetings to germany ;)

Zulu 18-07-2006 03:06

@TONNI_PT
Why the heck would someone owning the original first create a BW6 image and mount this in DT to create a Alcohol image

BTW a mds file is not a mini image

Muji-FightR 18-07-2006 04:46

Possibly boredom or fun, most likely ... you know illegal activities

LoedD 18-07-2006 04:47

Did anyone try THIS ?
Works at least for SF3 maybe for v4 too;)

ziupo 18-07-2006 15:49

ehh, this hack work ONLYin SF3 ! not for SF4! v4 is a diferent version!

LoedD 20-07-2006 05:14

Did you try it?

Joe Forster/STA 20-07-2006 08:06

@momomaniak: Banned, forum rule #1.

Laz77 23-07-2006 17:17

Mite have found something...

Ok so I was doing some searching...I came across a crack for flatout 2 so I decided to try it, now its asking me for the disc key...anyone have any clue what to do from here on in?

cdkiller 24-07-2006 01:04

Quote:

ow its asking me for the disc key...
you are using the Starforce ProActive exe wich doesn´t contain any disc checks. this protection validates the serial when connecting to the starforce protection server. to run it you need to have a valid key.

Laz77 24-07-2006 10:37

Buhp

my best guess is that is what it is...so now yeah i need a disc key, i read up in a couple places its the same disc key for every game so if we found it would the game work?

Joe Forster/STA 24-07-2006 10:39

If you have non-crack-related problems with your original game then the publisher is the first to contact with a problem report.

Laz77 24-07-2006 10:41

I understand

no i get that idea like i want it to work without the cd so i dont gotta use it all the time, so thats y im trying to figure this out, so thats y im wondering is there anyway to get the disc key or what can we do?

Joe Forster/STA 24-07-2006 10:45

If I understand correctly what cdkiller said, you don't need the CD/DVD at all, only a valid Starforce key. I suppose you should've got one when you bought the game, either in the jewel case - for a physical CD/DVD - or in the confirmation E-mail - for a so called "digital download". So, how did you buy the game anyway?

XdaywalkerX 24-07-2006 10:59

no need for a key - this game is protected by starforce 4 fronline - keyless... u just must enter a key if u have problems with the protection - if u have, contact starforce support.

RemusDaniel 24-07-2006 11:02

"STA forster" comeout from Star Force??:))

Joe Forster/STA 24-07-2006 11:55

Oooo, very smart, sir, very smart!

ziupo 24-07-2006 14:10

Can you share this crack or tell me where you download this crack?

noscript 24-07-2006 14:45

he has no crack. Its a keyfeatured cd less starforce protected exe.

LoedD 31-07-2006 13:37

Can anyone tell me what blindwrite settings I have to use to make a working image? (I know I have to burn the image ....bla but first I need a correct image;) )

XdaywalkerX 31-07-2006 15:40

i don't have blindwrite 6 - but if it's like vers. 5 ur backup will create full automatic - no need to change settings etc.

Siegfried VII 01-08-2006 11:10

So... If I'm not mistaken the US release date is today... can anyone confirm that the game is Scurom 7 protected instead of Starforce 4 :D ?

Rayder 02-08-2006 05:14

I'm reading at one of the FO forums that it will indeed contain the SF virus in the American version.

Oh well, it was the ONLY PC game I planned to buy this year. Now that idea is down the toilet. :(

I don't care how good the game is, I'm not putting Starforce infected games in any of my PC's. Maybe I'm just weird, but I like having a stable PC.

I hope someone like Reloaded cracks the crap out of this game. I also hope Empire Interactive feels the loss in their pocketbooks too. Maybe they'll wise-up next time.

Siegfried VII 02-08-2006 11:21

I fell the same Rayder... I've been waiting for this one a long time... Now I'll have to transfer my waiting to Splinter Cell Double Agent :o too bad for us, but I'm also not buying a starforce protected game
