I would be glad to send some donkey-style programmers and some other blind-gamers to play soccer instead; They would cause less damage to the essence of videogamez.
And, if I don't ask too much, could you please reply point after point to my preceiding post? I guess you can't cause sane criticism doesn't run well on your brain, damn unfornutately you can't get a new one. :D |
Sorry for the double post.
Grumpy, didn't want to be offensive, but the fact is that I hate to waste the hard-earned money of my parents (I'm a student), so don't take it like a personal attack cause all I would like to make you understand is that this is the 1.000th time that a game isn't worth his price. |
@Duke
All I originally said to you was: Quote:
My kids have a P4 2.8 HT 1gig Ram and a 128 Graphics card yet even they can run it on Medium settings at 1024x768!! So, you little dipstick again I say to you it is your goddam machine that is letting you down!!! Quote:
As far as touching on your points, when you make a valid point I may consider touching on it! Besides why bother when your dimwit brain can only answer with "but this seems just a good excuse"!! Every game will tell you "You must install the latest drivers"!! Quote:
If you want a real car get a Driving License and get out on the road!! Pull yourself away from that crappy system of yours and buy a real car!! Of course they are Dream cars?? Sane criticism you say?? Where was the sane criticism? You dont even understand that playing games is playing in a dream world! Its not real!! Its not meant to be real!! Please tell me a PC game that was real?? Sane criticism, wow I am still laughing and shaking my head at that comment!! Telling me to 'open my eyes' and trying to refer to me as another 'Blind Gamer' only proceeds to 'Piss me off' and believe me that in itself is not a smart thing to do!! Now pull your head out of the clouds and go and buy a 'real' car!! EDIT: What do you mean you didnt want to be offensive!? What telling me I cant take sane criticism wasnt meant to be offensive!!! Dream on mummys boy!! If you dont want to waste mummies money then go rent the game, you know try before you buy!! |

In fact I rented it, as I told ya before, but what I wanted to underline is that even a Pc game should be compatible with 99% pc which are over the min requirements. What's the meaning of NFSMW req? Nothing, cause even on a much better pc it is choppy.
Before you talked about "realism", now you say "It's a game, it's not real", I guess you should take a clear decision before talking, otherwise I'll think you turn the things in the way that is suitable to support your opinion. And yes, you are another blind-gamer, who considers every game he buys a must-buy, while all the consideartions I made demonstrate that this game isn't really perfect. You can disagree if you want, but it will not help in convincing me that NFS is a good game. I'd like to remember you that I said that "every other game runs fine", but NFS doesn't, so what? There's something that is not with my systems, but with game coding which is full of lacks. Maybe you're right, I should go out and play football, or would you be so kind to send me your kids so they can teach me how to use a pc??? I'll stop it right here, I still have not heard a possible solution for my prob. and I'm not interested in arguing with a bunch of noisy guys. And yes, I'm still referring to you. |

See now you shot yourself in the foot (DUKE)
Like ive said before, not all games work on every single machine, its impossible, there is that many combinations of different hardware in a machine that it would be difficult to test one game on all. Laptops are usually not gaming machines, unless you bought a gaming machine. Whats your laptop specs, and graphic card? If its one of those onboard intel extremes you can forget playing the game. EDIT: Grumpy got his post out before mine :P |
i run the game on a P4 3Ghz with a 9800XT 128MB and 1024 Mb RAM which is not really Hi-End nowadays ...
It runs lets say okay, a not-that-smooth 20 fps at max settings and 1024x768 is okay, but sometimes there is something really strange i encountered. it runs for a certain time with 5fps or less, just stops after lets say 2 min. but the most strange thing, it happens in special areas, often with plenty of wood  and, wow, i just defragmentated my systen with Perfect Disk and it does not appear anymore. cool . ;) |
I run it on a 2.5 Barton for christ sakes:p
1gig ram 120 gig sata Radeon 9600XT Stock coolong lol (no Overclock) Highest detail No chop;) OK res 800X600:rolleyes: |
Guys, if you want serious simulation, try Live for Speed or any game from the SimBin Team, in the hardest difficulty mode. The Need for Speed series stopped being simulation, after the first one.
As for compatibility, a PC not only need to meet the hardware requirements but its software also needs to be maintained continuously, otherwise weird things will happen - crashes, compatibility problems, etc. -, and not only with games! So, from this point of view, DABhand is right, it is not always the publisher's fault that their software doesn't run - properly or at all - on a given PC. (The real question is the difference between the percentage of problems caused by the user and the publisher. :)) |
Direct-x Eradicator
not really on the subject but i have a self hacked prog that allows you to un-install DIRECTX aslong as its above 8.1(tried & tested on my pc only)
If its of any use to anyone let me no even if you just want to try it out |
@ Mujifighter
That's the SAME problem I've encountered, and now I've the same with NFSU2. Even when I have reinstalled the OS (2 times) I've kept the D:\ partition (which is about 50 GB, 40 of them full & defragmented). Maybe I'll try to free some disk space and just defragment again with that proggy. Thx for the advice. However my config is: P4 3.06 Ghz HT FSB533 (I've tried the imagecfg trick, but nothing) 1024 Mb DDR 333 80 Gb Hard Disk @ 4800 RPM ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 128 Mb (NOT shared) When I bought it, just 2 years and a half ago, it was really a gaming machine. Maybe it would be still good if there where some good and up-to-date gfx drivers. I've already tried official ATI catalyst, DNA and Omega Drivers, Unyan Catalyst and DHModtool, but with latest drivers I'm unable to reproduce videos. Anyway, I'm sure that the problem isn't caused by: USB joypad Firewall Antivirus Updating features running in background Internet Connection Paging File Fragmentation Dual CPU issues (it could happen while programmin' with feet :D  ;) ) GFX card (it works perfectly with other heavy games such as COD2) Hope this will help in finding a solution. |
But you wont get help after admiting you rented the game and you dont actually own it.

EDIT: All PC's are different, motherboards are different, graphic cards from whatever manufacturer (even same 6800 chipset) are different, all processors arent twins or identical, soundcards, memory, drives, etc etc All are different. So you cant have a game running 99% perfect on all machines, its impossible to test on all multiples of hardware. |
;) DabHand, I've always been a console-gamer, but I've never pretended to play on pc as easily as on Sega MegaDrive. Anyway it's certainly not my opinion that lots of people are having problem with (not only) this game; it seems that having a game without any kind of issue is just exception, while it would be the normality.
If Silent Hill 4 fails in recognizin' my gfx and so prevents me from changing the screen res, what I should do? Remaining calm and thinkin' that I'm one of those unlucky people who have this problem, or better return the game to the store? If NFSMW have some strange behaviour cause I have 50 GB full on the 75 of my Hard-Disk, even if this is the prob (I've still not tried, and maybe I'll never try cause I've not the game anymore), what I should think about the programmers? Nobody said me I would have had 30+ GB free on my Hard Disk!!!! (I defragment it every single day, just to be precise). And what about path of neo, so horrible that they released a huge patch in less then one week? And F.E.A.R. and Starship Troopers, which look like crap at med\low res? Don't ya think that there isn't too much attention for med-low-end systems? Back to NFSMW, a 7800 GTX owner, seeing the game choppy cause in some situations it is choppy, no matter the hardware and the detail level you choose, what should he do? Well, I'm still waitin' for an answer, cause games which play fine on the 99,99999% systems are still many, as a confirm that is still possible to make a game suitable for (almost) every config. My little noobie idea is, since pc has become a gaming machine (I think approx. since 1998), too many people have thought to be able to enter this market; the result is, too many games, much of them similar and of low quality, and only few must-buy, few as they where before this "Boom". So, even if this ought-to-be great titles (I think also to POP3, damned SF3!!!) are not free from the shadow of issues, mmmmmm, better come back to consoles. But not me, the programmers. |
Thats all fine and well, but your dont own NFSMW, you rented it.
If you read the rules, no help to people who dont have the original disc. |
@DABhand: I think DUKE_NUKEM wasn't requesting anything for his copy of NFS:MW that he doesn't actually own, he was only discussing it. And, according to his bad opinion about it, I don't think he'll keep it anyway... ;)
@DUKE_NUKEM: While I agree with you on most parts, this thread is getting a bit off-topic for this forum... |
Fair do's my apologies to DUKE, but he is wrong about systems and how games run, my NFSMW works flawlessly.
|
I said I'm still having the prob, but now with NFS Underground 2.
Got my eval. ver. of Xfect Disk and Defragmented. Now I have 23 on 29 GB free on the primary partition and 25 on 45 on the second partition, but still having problems. To Mujifighter: did you set any particular option in Xfect disk? To Dabhand: Don't worry we're just talkin' ;) To Joe: OT? Not realy, I got a prob with NFS!!!  ;) :D |
to DUKE NUKEM:
I enabled 'Smart Replacement Defrag' and also did the so called 'Offline Defrag' which claims to defrag your Windows files and folders, dunno if it really works. After doing it, this 'particular slowdown' did not occur anymore ;) |
Tried again and nothing.
Ok, I give up and go playin PES 5 Superpatch, THX to all for the help, it was a vain effort :( |
Mine runs so fast on my AMD mobile @2.8gig with 250/500 FSB and 2gig ram and 6800U AGP overclocked to 475/1250 (running tighter ram timmings) and its so real looking i get travel sickness esp in the ****pit view, man i though i had grown out that now i need take them horrid tasting pills again everytime i fire up NFS-MW :p
Lol, specs are true but i aint really been playing any game in past 3weeks never mind this, i do odd quick race now and then. |
For Cheese and Rice's sake, can we switch off the censorship on this board? Being unable to spell out "car c-o-c-k-pit" or "Chronicles of Rid-d-i-c-k" or "Star-f-u-c-k-er" is getting ridiculous... ;)

Blasphemy!
Repent you sinner! :P |
