I found out that toca2 works on win2k, it's just the crack that isn't compatable. But I guess that there is a fix for the fix. Now I'm just trying to find it :D

glenbo 15-10-2005 18:42

lol he did explain that numpty

Thanks for the info but i can't get it to work, what am i doing wrong ?

W2k up to date.

With the reloaded exe i get a RestoreLastError so i edited it with XVI32(free hex editor), replaced Restore with Get or Set i get a different error; "The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll".

Any other things to be changed ? :)

TippeX 16-10-2005 05:28

GetLastError and you have to overwrite the RestoreLastError with that, and make sure that the last character is 00 hex, so its terminated, im guessing you didnt hex edit it properly

Did it like this (also with Set instead of Get, same error);
http://www.light.herejezus.nl/images/Untitled-2.gif
When i'm done i just save the file and run it. (saved its exactly the same size as reloaded one)

Combat Pillow 16-10-2005 08:21

Problem

Just patch RLD's fixed EXE and play finally w/o CD & image. ;)

I have exactly done all this and the game still does NOT start!
I copied the "RD2.exe" from the RELOADED-crack for version 1.2 to my game directory! Then I applied the CRASH FIX for this crack from MegaUpload.com and patched the crack! But I still get the error message "RD2.exe has caused an error and has to be closed." Thats the same what I also get when I do NOT patch the crack! ORIGINAL DVD works fine!
Any ideas??? By the way I am using "Windows XP Home Edition with SP1"!

alex_voyager 16-10-2005 09:01

Also for me. Don't works with XP SP1 :(
I think that RLD has decrypted the game under XP SP2 and not tested with SP1.

glenbo 16-10-2005 10:31

yeh service pack 2 only....funny things in most starforce based games (espeacilly codemasters) it states that service pack 2 is essential.

so running it on service pack 1 is like running it below minimum specs.

MontyBurns1985 16-10-2005 10:44

Damn, I don't want to update my XP to SP2 because of the incompatibility to older games! I heard that most of the older games do not work with XP with SP2!

Is there no other solution??? I would really appreciate having the chance to play this game without DVD finally, but like I already said I don't want "XP - SP2" on my computer!

Another Question: Is the crack really a NO-DVD FIXED EXE or is it only a BACKUP-DVD FIXED EXE??? When it is only a BACKUP-DVD-CRACK it's senseless for me, because then I can also put in my ORIGINAL-DVD in the same time!

god_mode 16-10-2005 11:25

Well I used the hex editor and made the the change from Restore to Get. I then made sure that the 00 was at the end. I then saved it copied it over to the installed dir. and tried it. Now I get RD2.exe is not a valid win32 application.

There is a way to make this work. I just don't understand why the people that say that they have it working on win2k can't just put up a link to the modded rd2.exe? Or msg me and I'll host it. Or send it to gcw and they will host it. Either way this should be out there.

glenbo 16-10-2005 17:54

what older games monty? everything works on my pc that i own all my old windows 95 games, some aquire dos box, like they did on sp1.

theres alot of myths about sp2,dont believe the hype.

and even so,you can uninstall it if you dont like it.(sp2)

but honestly try it and see,i bet all your games run exactly the same.

DABhand 16-10-2005 20:35

Alot of mad people who dont run SP2, not only are you open from various worms, SP1 was buggy as hell.

god_mode 16-10-2005 22:48

I tried this again. Just like how you showed and it still doesn't work, now it says GetLastError not found in kernel32.dll instead of RestoreLastError.

Yes, please someone make a working rd2.exe for win2k and upload it. or place a link here so everyone that wants it can grab it.

Thanks!

MontyBurns1985 17-10-2005 05:28

Could someone please make a proper NO-DVD-CRACK for version 1.2 of "DTM Race Driver 2" that works on all Windows operating systems, like "Windows XP with SP1"?!

god_mode 17-10-2005 09:08

Why is it that everyone offers work arounds instead of a solution for the problem? You guys are just as bad as the programmers. Make shifty software that is buggy or doesn't work on all platforms. Then instead of giving or providing a valid solution your instead just talk about work arounds and what people "should" do.

I run win2k, If it doesn't work and I tried to make it work then screw it. I'm not going to format and reinstall over some groups half assed crack that doesn't work on all platforms. I will however install vmware and install xp-sp2 and then run this game. Just to see if it works.

Joe Forster/STA 17-10-2005 09:23

Are you paying anything to either members of this forum or the crackers making no-CD patches? Obviously, no. So why do you think you have the right for any kind of support here, for that matter? Don't demand, don't whine; rather, be happy and thankful if you get help of any kind.

By the way, have you noticed that, because of Starforce 3.x, currently there are only workarounds but no "clean" no-CD patches as before? But if you're as smart as you think you are, you'd better start learning assembly and the Windows API and making proper no-CD patch yourself!

god_mode 17-10-2005 10:24

How about this Joe, Here is my contrabution. intead of bitchin'!

Here is a walk through.

*reloaded* no/cd (RD2.exe)
XVI32 Hex editor

Open up the RD2.exe in the hex editor.

Then click search and find. Type in RestoreLastError into the text field. click search.

Then Edit>Overwrite String and type in SetLastError then click ok.

Now, STOP, and vary carefully look, you will see that it still shows rror at the end of Error. You want to click on the left in the hex area in the designated box for the firt letter that shouldn't be there. Then type in 00 for each letter that shouldn't be there. DO NOT DELETE THEM!

Now click search>find and click the hex string field. and enter in B1 B6 80 7C

Now replace these with 00 00 00 00

Now save the file as something other than rd2.exe . Then copy it into game dir name it back to rd2.exe after you have renamed the orignal.

Have FUN!!

SKUZZ YOU THE MAN!

I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WORKS FOR XP SP1 EDIT: WORKS FOR XPSP1 AND XPSP2. I don't know about 98se or winme though.

Sorry "BaconBelly" some things are not eazy to anderstand for french/german user so we me, I mistake your question.
sorry and thank for contribution. :D

Combat Pillow 17-10-2005 12:06

YES!!! NoCD/DVD patch is now compatible with SP1 too. THANKS.

god_mode 17-10-2005 12:09

I see that there is also a link on gcw for this game. It says /win2k now. I haven't tried it because what I have works. It's just weird that reloaded didn't do this from the get go. They might have had their reasons or not. Either way. It's all good! :D

BarryB 17-10-2005 17:16

Just to make this complete (hopefully) you can remove the DVD Check by doing the following:

Find offset 000C8FA0 in the Reloaded RD2.EXE

Change the bytes starting at that address from:

81 EC 84 00

to

33 C0 40 C3

Only tested this NoDVD with the English/UK version DVD (I patched to v1.2) as that's the only version I own but it works for me, hope it works for others!

DABhand 18-10-2005 02:31

You could always use CodeFusion to make a patcher for people, since I dont have the game I cant make it.

CodeFusion is straight forward and you can tell it to patch coding in a file.

Rentier 18-10-2005 05:40

The "fixed thing" works fine with the german patched 1.2 file. I have to say BIG THANKS to all supporters, because my orginal DVD wont work since i've bought it (thanks starf....) . Now i can play it and thats why iam happy.

First by it, then try it. :)

Sorry for my bad english, greetings from germany.

BarryB 18-10-2005 05:45

@dede: My game asks for the 'CD' to be inserted when using the Reloaded crack so I just removed the check, thought others may have the same problem so I posted the info.

I got this message on a fresh install of TOCA2, patched to 1.2 and using the fixed RD2.EXE. I then tried the original reloaded crack on my already installed game and it didn't ask for the 'CD' so I think people will only see this with a 'fresh' install of the game!

Rentier 18-10-2005 05:52

On my system it works fine also with an "fresh installed" Game. No asking for an CD or else. (But my original Game is on DVD and not on CD)

German Greetings

dede 18-10-2005 06:27

:D The final nodvd win2k compatible file are available on GCW main page. Now all patch's are useless have fun.

MBO 19-10-2005 08:44

Hello,
When i start the game and i click 'start race' and the loading screen is done, a blue screen appears that creates a kernel dump.

I installed the patch and crack like it is described on gamecopyorld.

My computer:

- RaceDriver2 (Full-Installation)
- Windows XP SP2
- P4 HT 3,4 Ghz
- GeForce 6600 GT
- 1 GB DDR-RAM

How to solve the problem?

doesn´t work.

Joe Forster/STA 24-10-2005 07:44

Update the drivers of all components in your PC (motherboard, chipset, audio, video, Ethernet, IDE controller) to the the latest ones. There is a definite reason for BSOD's! :(

Remove all ramdrive overclocking in your bios than work bether overclocked ram make many errors on XP SP2. don't use High performances setting in bios with SP2 if your ram is not high quality certified set to default or [by SPD] :D

If i look your hardware description (i sea you have P4 HT) probably (check your description manual) you need 100% certified dual compatible RAM & you need to use chips's from same manucturer and from same size NO differences between chips are supported by dual system's. Blue Screen are most time Ram compatibility problems & most time with Dual compatible system's. A simple help, remove after unplug the power cable, the second ram chips & test the game with only one chip if work, you have a ram compatibility problem. if don't work make the test with chip's 2 in dimm 1 alone

Next time, use as reply " :D Sorry i have tested your councils but it doesn´t work can you PLZ post the next stape for me

" NOT JUST " doesn't work  "

sorry for my bad eNglish i am french :D :D

patch problem - reloaded version

Hi,

I have problems with my Reloaded version game. I could'nt install the 1.2 patch 'cause, I received this error message:"Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'GameData\cars\int.big'

error ept0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was
found. No update done since file contents do not match.

----- Race Driver 2 Patch Finished -----
Error code: 36"

I tried to replace and copy the int.big, but its same as on the DVD. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times but I got same results.

Is it possible if this file in- my Program files -is modded already?

Please help!

BarryB 30-10-2005 04:52

Check the version number on the main menu screen, the patch will only patch v1.0 to v1.2.

sasa74 30-10-2005 05:46

Unfortunatelly I could not check the main menu, because the game doesnot work without the patch. As I mentioned I use the Reloaded version and the GCW has the crack. I also tried the ver1.0 patch and still exist my problem.

Please help

thx

Obviously you didnt bother to read the 'popup' you would have seen before entering this site? Surely you would have noticed the part that said "NO WAREZ"!!!!
Go and read the rules whilst you are still a member as you probably wont be a member here for much longer!!

GLH 30-10-2005 06:20
