So just be patient, and stop the blabbering.

if you'd bought a car and there was one seat missing and the radio only played the worst station in your area and it only had 3 wheels instead of 4 you'd be miffed wouldn't you ?

it'd mean you could still drive albeit on 3 wheels ,so not too good in the handling department, you'd still be able to listen to a radio station ,albeit the crappiest one around, and ..oh .. thats what the drivers seat was for..

don't come in hear with your more posts than you rubbish and automatically assume we're 12 year olds.
what we posted above was confusion with a bit of sarcasm...how can you release a patch for a game thats not out yet ?

thats a bit like the egg before the chicken..

I think people should at least give some respect to the developers

oh i do have respect but not much, where was the play testing ?
you'd soon complain if you went to the cinema but could only hear the sound if you looked at the back wall...

come on,how could they have missed that ?

good game but shouldn't have been released for a long time yet.

DABhand 27-05-2005 02:18

Why do people think they become Game experts all of a sudden.

The game would have been running on test machines during QA times. The fact is people have all different types of specs of pc's you cant Please 100% of the people.

Name one game, just one game, where everyone bought a game and it worked for everyone (PC not console).

DarkLeftos 27-05-2005 03:06

@Chunter:

I, personally, wouldn't expect a company that had just made its first car to actually get it working without any problems. I would be thinking about it, and I'd be taking a risk.

I didn't call names at anybody, neither did I assume anyone was 12 years old. I even searched the internet and provided support links for all the people like yourself who have problems with the game. But you can't even say thank you, you just go on to judge me.

This is software, and being a developer myself too, I know that no matter how much you test it and how many rigs you've tested it on, there's always gonna be bugs. Trust me, the first version of my program had quite some bugs, and that was due to my lack of experience. If I got people saying "Hey, your program sucks, it's full of bugs, I'm gonna delete it and then wipe it off my hard disk" I would just give up. But I got "hey, quite some work you put on the program, but i've noticed there are some bugs, here is what I found" and that is what kept me going. Just think of yourself as a developer. What would be better?

Those developers actually tried hard, and although their game has bugs, from their first day they're working on ways to fix them. I know it's ironic that the US patch is released while there is no US release, but I'm being patient.

So, next time you buy a car from a company new to the automobile section, wait for a reliable magazine to test drive it, or ask your friends about it BEFORE buying it, if you're NOT feeling risky.

Translated into software terms, next time you buy a game from a company (see DeepShadows) which has quite little experience in the sector, read some reviews first, browse through some forums, get an opinion from here and there, and THEN buy it.

I actually KNEW about the bugs before buying the game, but a game with such features as Boiling Point, was a risk worth taking. And trust me, with its bugs and its lag, it's still pretty enjoyable, and it's gonna be even more enjoyable in a few days.

That's MY opinion, I'm not flaming or criticizing anybody.

And I'd like to remind everyone of FarCry... How many patches are out up to now? Are there still bugs? How long has it been out? How many compatibility problems were there? Heck, I had a high-end computer for its standards at the time, and the game was hardly playable! I had to search the web, browse through hundreds of topics, to make the game playable.

But, lesson learned, I've been quite cautious since then.

@DabHand:

Thanks for the support. I've just added one more point to yours by mentioning FarCry above.

Just want to state several interesting facts:

1. I patched my European version with a US patch and used the old no-cd and the game worked just as before except I can't bring down the console.

2. I deleted the no-cd and installed Anti-Blaxx (availible for download at gamecopyworld) and connected it with the game's image in Deamon tools so I could play without the no-cd. When I did, ALL MY SOUND PROBLEMS disapeared! No more skipping lagging sounds.

3. I installed all new drivers but the load & crash problem still continues sometimes in some places. Annoying...

4. At the very end where you have to blow up the generator DO NOT WASTE your bullets thinking you will kill all of the enemy from behind cover and then proceed. THE ENEMY RESPAWNS. With me the whole place is covered with corpses now. I'm outta health and outta bullets and can't use cheats because console won't come down and the trainer crashes my game

Patrickos 28-05-2005 07:45

Yeah, me too, but its normal that u can play, cos in eu version the patch does not update every file, xenux.exe too, so crack works fine.

I've got the original EU Version and the Patch does not work ! So i ve to wait.. :(

Advocate 28-05-2005 10:24

Freezes at Nvidia Logo

I have the same problem as the person above. When I start the game at the Nvidia logo the game freezes. Anyone have any ideas. Would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

khafan 28-05-2005 13:39

Open game.ini file in the notePad and look for "DISABLEAVIPLAYER=0" change it to DISABLEAVIPLAYER=1
if this fixes the problem then you have codec problem.

Advocate 28-05-2005 17:39

It works

Thanks Khafan that was exactly was the problem.

In being a newbie to some of this stuff, (not gaming itself) can someone explain the reason around my codex being wrong and wheather this will cause me other problems and if so how I can fix it.

Also is there a patch for the multilanguage version of the game.

Thanks

Patrickos 29-05-2005 01:51

The problem with nVidia logo.
I had the WMP 10 and thats was the problem cos when I install the WMP9 its runs great for me.
But i try trick with game.ini, and try it with WMP 10.
Thx

peogeot 29-05-2005 15:22

too many bugs in this game.....it has been better if there less bugs.....still waiting that goddamm patch.....

Jedo 31-05-2005 00:41

Only problem now: I'm at the point of blowing up the generators but the scientist said that I can find TNT somewhere near there. I been everywhere so far and haven't found any. Might've as well gone back to town (again).

Any mods or walkthroughs visible on this game?

peogeot 31-05-2005 04:48

excuse me jedo.....i help you little.....there is some room where is guns , rpg.....you must take rpg and shoot the generators(8 of them) with rpg.....scientist says tnt but there is no tnt anywhere so you must take rpg.....

Jedo 01-06-2005 01:38

I believe I already tried that but I'm going to try again. thanx

How do you connect it to daemon tools? This means dameon tools will have to be enabled everytime i want to play the game? And is it better to use alcohol or daemon?

Sry for the dumb questions but I have never done this

Jedo 01-06-2005 16:45

I don't think Daemon tools are needed to be enabled all the time. After all the virtual drive already exists. I do encounter weird problems with Daemon tools and Anti-Blaxx icons disappearing from the task bar and Daemon some time ago started freaking out with some kind of dll error :S

Anyways when you start Anti-Blax you should be able to figure it out. Just fill in the fields in the lower part where it asks for Daemon directory, game dir etc. etc.

Funny that I find out about it just now but actually all those problems I had with no no-cds for new patches couldve been avoided this easily :P

Not sure about the new version but I think teh newer the better.

malik22 03-06-2005 10:17

so the dameon anti blax combination should work with the future patches?

egtuscani03 03-06-2005 22:56

newb looking for help

Ok, im pretty bad at this stuff, cant seem to figure it out. I just got BP and I had problems during installation, there was several CRC errors, mainly newgrp.grp or something. So i ignore them and continue (cuz nothing i do rectifies this) so Im playing the game and its choppy at best, and it shouldnt be with my system. also now that im playing it continually crashes every time i play, with a lot of .dll exceptions. its unplayable now, cuz i play for 5 minutes, and it crashes. very annoying. Ive tried reinstalling, nothing.

I read something in this thread about the dvd not being able to handle it or somethng and people use the nocd crach with daemon ? i dont know much about that stuff, i was hoping maybe someone could help me out with this ?
here are system specs: fx-55 2.6ghz, 1GB corsair, 6800 ultra, realtek ac97 SC. I really enjoy what ive played of the game so far, its right up my alley but it really sucks not being able to play it. any help greatly appreciated

DarkLeftos 04-06-2005 07:17

Have you tried using the tweaked game.ini and raising your pagefile to 1GB? Have you changed Lighting to Vertex? Have you updated your drivers?

Your system is quite high-end and should be able to play the game without chopiness, hell, even mine plays it waaaaay good right now.

As for the CRC errors, they aren't something that should be ignored. It means either a bad disk or a worn drive. So return the game and ask for a new copy. It should work

Grumpy 04-06-2005 09:41

I have a P4 3.2GHz, 2gig of Duel Channel Ram, and a ATI X800XT video card and i run Boiling Point with 'all' settings on full/high, (all slider bars are to the right), at 1024x768 with basically no problems at all! There is the very slight stutter once in a while but nothing to bad! But when I run it at 1600x1200 I do have some stuttering problems!
I have yet to try any of the tweaks and I havent installed the latest upgrade patch for it yet.
Later I will try some of the tweaks mentioned to see if I can get it to run at 1600x1200.
I just thought I would mention this to let you all know what you basically need to run this game with all the eye candy! Looks very nice btw. ;)

egtuscani03 04-06-2005 16:01

yeah i Dled that new game.ini file and replaced the orig, it seems to run better now but wi try to run full settings and its still choppy as hell, but it runs better on lower lvs. however my main thing with it now is that it has all these dame .dll exceptions and crashes the game which is very annoying. anyone have some advice or similar probs ? could it be the crc issue ? thx

dede 05-06-2005 00:22

Hi, "egtuscani03" The installer work proper and no CRC errors during installation, probably you have a bad copy from this game, use your original to install or go to saler to change it. Somme CRC errors during installation or unzipping, unrar, can due to defected Ram. So check your ram with ramtest. :)
