Okay. This is my tutorial

1) Install Cossacks2 and when installation is completed launch game and reboot (if you don't have any other StarForce game installed)

2) Unpack zip patch wich includes the StarForce3 removal tool (sfdrvrem), the update driver tool (sfdrvup) and the patch exe file.

3) Now run sfdrvrem.exe but don't reboot your pc

4) run sfdrvup.exe and an error message will appear. Don't worry it's normal.

5) Now run sfdrvpatch.exe and locate sfdrv01.sys file in c:\windows\system32\drivers and patch it.

6) Now reboot your pc and run Cossacks2 desktop link for the game.
The application will tell you, you need another reboot. Don't worry and reboot again.

7) Now use StarForce Nightmare 1.12 and disable CD (I have SATA HD so I disabled CH1, CH2, ATA and CD) and click on "Disable Node".

8) At last mount Cossacks2 cd2 using my mds (naming it with the same label of CD2's MDF)

9) Run game, and if it doesn't work, insert serial number provided in the link on rapidshare.de posted few pages back.

10) Wait for StarForce3 checking protection and play.

I can prove it works flawlessly, but I must tell you my version is only italian localized.

It could work with a mini-image I think :s

Yer what I think here is incompatibility between the MDS and MDF files, thus the "not responding".

My only problem (but not the least) is that it says that it can't recognize the CD :s

I to thank you for what you did for us NIKO. My English is bad, I am French

I found that mds I created is good only for italian version. It checks MDF size and if it doesn't match the game doesn't start.

I suggest you to find someone with the english version and any other language version and ask him to create the correct dpm for the version needed.

oh well, i'm so pleased that i have the original and have not had to do all of that for nothing..

all i want is the a no-cd patch, because it takes 5 minutes sometimes to load :(

I tried Mr.Niko's ideas and patches,but it doesnt work.
I think it's just because of our one is English version.(Niko's one is Italian version)
So,we should take a mini image or starforce driver patch for English version.
I'm waiting・・

If niko, sends to us are files ENGINE.EXE and Protect.dll. It is possible that its functions???

You are smart! I dont care such as thing!
It may be possible to play game if we get ENGINE.EXE and Protect.dll of niko and use mini image.
But,it may be also possible to be changed language(game menu only?) to Italy after we got a full playable game :(

I have a p4 2.5, 1024 ddr 333 pc 2700 and a radeon 9700 but i didnt like the game performance of cossacks 2 while cracked with the fake (demo) crack..

Yep the Carbon version works great for me , but can anyone confirm if it works with the 11 patch? Im to scared to try it myself. :)

When I get the crack, I'll test on my german version.

Carbon works great with version 1, but I just tried it with version11 and it dident work. Tried replacing the engine.exe and protect.dll from version 1 but got a dynamic links error.
Even though the engine.exe increases in size the version stays the same, the protect.dll is the newer version of StarF***.
Maybe a need to port another file over from the version 1 install. Any ideas?

I have searched the meaning of "carbon clone".
As a result,I found a soft called "carbon copy cloner".
Is this right? I can play the game if i use this soft? :confused:
I want to try,but now is PM 11 o'clock here(in Japan).
