scrapland

i read all the posts in this thread so far and i read some others referingt to starbuck and stuff.
i crashed my computer a few times with startruck, till i found out/remembered, that my optical drive is secondary master. (i have another HDD on secondary slave. thats why my compute crashed, i think.)

now i tried sfn and disabled just the optical one.
the miniimage is in my one and only daemon-drive.
i tried to start the game, but the security thingy wingy just keeps crashing . . . i think.
i dont know.
the task gets a freeze and then i just killed it.

is there no other way to get this one running, or do i have to wait for a "real" crack to get this thing to work w/o the cd? but starforce IS crackable, right? =)

i would be happy for any suggestions or ideas how to get it running.
if anyone needs any infos bout my system, just ask . . . =)

BarryB 07-02-2005 06:22

The ideal setup would be to have your Hard Drives on the Primary IDE Channel and your Optical Drives on the Secondary IDE channel, that way you can determine if this setup is better for running SF games or your system config is just not compatible with StarF*ck or SFN!

twinnie 07-02-2005 23:44

Has anybody managed to get the german version of Scrapland working with the miniimage?
I have tried everything mentioned in this thread and SFNightmare seems to work, but the copy-protection-software is asking for another key???
Could it be they used different keys for the english and german version?

my problem is, that i have 3 HDDs and 1 optical.
that way i HAVE TO mix the optical with the HDD on one cable. (360gb and still not enough space . . .) =)

more ideas? =)

I used a spare PCI IDE-Controller I had lying around that supports 4 IDE drives, this way I can add extra HD's and still keep my Secondary IDE for optical drives.

ATM, I have 2 HD's on Primary, 2 optical drives on Secondary and 1 HD on PCI Controller, both StarF*ck and SFN work for me! I also have a VIA KT333 chipset MoBo, not Nforce, so that helps too!

As for the German version not working with the English mini image, that's probably due to SF's CD Key being tied to the German game and CD, so you can't use another language CD as that will have a different CD key I think.

That's what i think too... but since the program asks me to provide another key... anybody has the cd-key of the english-version the miniimage uses? :)

BarryB 08-02-2005 10:43

That's the point, it doesn't NEED a CD-Key as it's put on the disc during manufacture! The German game is checking the CD key on the disc and finding it's not the correct one as it's reading the CD key for the English game!

Nobody is going to give out CD keys anyway and is a breach of rules asking for one as well!

twinnie 08-02-2005 23:49

I see... thanks anyway for the info. :)

ZeroFlight 10-02-2005 19:30

I finally got it to work for me. I had the same problem with starf****r no running it. I tried both mini image files listed at GCW. The 73kb one said to insert disk 1 and the 63kb one said invalid key. I finally gave up on starf****r and used Starforce Nightmare. I have both optical drives on ide channel 2 and disabled it through Nightmare and used the 63kb mini image (the first one listed). Surprise! It works! Thanks for the help.

Hmm, forgive me my bad english.
Itried @ll suggestions i found in this Thread (others too), but cant get it to work (scrapland).
I own the German-Version and is running (with original CD) on an AMD 64, i cant open it to unplug (New one with a Warranty-Lock? (if i can , i wouldnt do that-unplugging thing).
I tried all Tools , both Mini-images, dont works....
In Bios i cant disable it (there stands something about Native...)
But its crazy , from the beginning i had some Problems on my System, my Mouse is going "crazy" only in one Folder (own Data) i cant Mark one File , if i trie to Mark one File its like the Pointer of the Mouse is a Quad 250 x 250 Pixel , not only one Pixel size....
The Pointer-Problem was there, before i used any tools or minis, and only happens if i launch scrapland before i try to mark the File????
I find it so ***** , that the Starfishers can install Drivers (Software) that corrupts my System.
Is it not possible (SF updates with every Game new Drivers), to take a old SF version (that is working with mini-image) , and modify it to a higher Version , so that the actual installed Game thinks it is an old Version and dont installs new Drivers....(only thinking)...
Grettz

I make what you write and all seems ok, untill the protection of the game ask me for a cd-key....and I don't know what kind of key it need!

I hope to can resolve this problem, thank you for you help, bye!

It wants the CD Key which came with your original purchased game disc!
Hint: Its usually found on the CD Cover somewhere or On or in the Game Manual somewhere! ;)

BarryB 09-03-2005 05:22

I don't think this game needs a CD KEY, Morglum posted about how Starforce calculates an internal key from sectors on the disc, so put the wrong disc in and the key will be incorrect and pop a request for the key, even though it doesn't require one!

Some games DO need a CD key like TOCA 2, but some games ask because the CD is just the wrong one!

Grumpy 09-03-2005 07:40

Hmmm, well as I dont actually have the game myself, I was just taking a calculated guess! I wasnt even aware it was a Starforce game! So you could say my guess was somewhat 'Miscalculated' ;)

Thank you Grumpy!
So, if I don't find this key in a cd cover...I'll never can play.... :(

Is very strange that I'm the only one with this problem...or better, not only me...I saw some post ago a German boy with the same problem....is a problem only for the european guys??

Are you all american??

Bye!

Brainman2k 09-03-2005 13:13

i bought a copy of scapland (german). but after realizing, that its a starforce-game i sold the game. i hate starforce and therefore i do not want to support it by buying games protected with it.

...that tought me a lesson: to look for the copy protection BEFORE i buy the game... ;)

Grumpy 10-03-2005 05:52

@ivanisevic82
You would be better reading 'BarryB's posts above for a better answer about the CD keys. In this case its not the Key you would normally get with your original CD case or the game manual but the CD Key checking feature which comes with Starforce Protected Games. ;)
I myself should have read Barry's posts above before telling you it was on the game Manual etc! :o

Joe Forster/STA 10-03-2005 06:59

Hi ivanisevic82,

If you're having _any_ problem with your original CD/DVD, take it back to the shop you bought it at as soon as possible!

And, no, we're not all Americans; see the "Location" info of users; some of us _do_ enter the real location there. Bye,

Joe

ivanisevic82 10-03-2005 07:27

Ok, thanks to everybody for your support.
I'm not absolutly sure to have understood all, my english is not so good and often is diffucult understend all!
...The conclusion of all discussion in basically...that is impossible for me to play without the original cd?

thx, bye!

Where is NOCD for Scrapland ? I don't see it here on GCW... It's been out (cracked) 6 days ago, according to NFORCE :D

Magnetic 14-04-2005 04:04

hey you stole my avatar man! :p

donīt know about the crack though, all i know that there is one, guess itīll be up here within the next days. itīs 70 mb or something like that.

Seeing as one of the cracked files is 80mb then no wonder it's not there! But don't worry, I've created a small RTPatch file that converts the original 'English.packed' file from 73mb to the cracked 80mb one!

Have sent both the cracked Scrap.exe and this small patch to GCW, it weighs in at only 1.75mb :)

The only problem I can see is if the 'English.packed' file is different to the one in my version!

Magnetic 14-04-2005 08:02

well, the kill switch crack is also there and it has 90 mb;)

but what do you mean with

Quote:

??

anyway, looking forward to the one you sent to GCW. :)

@stevi
No prob. :D

BarryB 14-04-2005 10:00

Simply the original 'English.packed' file when installed is 73mb, but the cracked one by DIE is 80mb! So rather than host a 70mb RAR file I created a small 763kb patch to convert the 73mb file to the 80mb file!

Magnetic 14-04-2005 10:33

ah ok thx, i didnīt get that.

I wonder wether a cracked "english.packed" will probably work with the german version. Any idea?

sole_fish 15-04-2005 23:27

Thanks!

EXCELLENT! I look forward to giving it a try! Many Many Thanks!

If the there is a file called 'English.packed' in the German version and its file size is 77,190,961 bytes then it might, if not then the only thing is to try and get the full 80mb file and the cracked 'Scrap.exe' and try it!

ToXa 16-04-2005 11:50

Scrapland

Help me. i from russia. i have russian version and patch from BarryB dount work(sorry my inglish is bed) somebody HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!
antgorkon@*********

meganassi 16-04-2005 11:52

german.packed is 85 MB....

how did you patch the english.packed to be cracked? can't you try it with the german one? :)

BarryB 16-04-2005 12:14

It looks like only the ENGLISH version of Scrapland has been cracked then!

If you only have a 'German.packed' file and not an 'English.packed' file then it pretty much kills off any chance of non English versions working as there is no 'German.packed' file installed in the English version! It looks like each copy of Scrapland is localised and only contains one language!

Does the game work at all if you just replace the 'BIN\Scrap.exe' with the cracked one?

ToXa 17-04-2005 00:41

Heeeeeelp!!!!!

what be if i have English demo version?

BarryB 17-04-2005 15:22

ToXa, I didn't crack this game so I can't help you, all I have done is make it easier for people with the English game to apply the crack!

The English demo is not going to help as I think the english.packed file is not the same size!

Just checked the english.packed file from the DEMO and it is 18mb, a patch would be 56mb to convert it to the cracked one, and if you think I'm going to do that (which sounds highly illegal, and more than likely is) then think again!!

Sorry, but all peeps with non Eenglish versions of Scrapland will have to use their CD!!

ToXa 18-04-2005 12:16
