hey , what is starforce and its cleaner  :D :D
|
Starforce is a nasty little copy protection system. It's a set of hidden device driver that are installed when you first start up the game. It's cleaner gets rid of the drivers.

Sometimes my mouse3 is bugged and I cant turn for **** anymore.. VERY annoying :( If the next version, which will if Im right add new modes and multiplayer online, owns, I will definitely buy this game. The only con is that its going a bit slow because my bro's dont really have good pc's :P And my bro with the worst pc has to host, else we are probably too fast for him :( |

Yes. You are right. So I had to sit back and figure out what I exactly did. And I tell you I tried a lot of things which caused a hell lot of rebootings based on burned cd's on different cd/dvd drives. So when the the image came along I'm sure of that I tried three different things. The image with daemon on the installed game ("No disc"), uninstalling starforce ("No disc") and finally uninstalling the game and got it working through a fresh installation. All these trials with optical drives physically disconnected. Anyhow - I hope you all get the game up and running. |

No warez please Tootzie!! Heres some intresting info on starforce. 1. Starforce never even bothers to check toc, if there's data at all on the cd, atip. 2. Seems like blacklisting was done by checking if specific data is at the same time read from hdd when checking process is taking place. Ofcourse image file was at the same time read when vitual cd was checked - thus it never actually _specifically_ blacklisted alcohol/dt virtual drives, it was a very general blacklist... The fact that images mounted over lan passed cd-checks also fits well into this theory... 3. Starforce checks very very limited area of cd to get it's dpm and if dpm seems alrigh it doesn't ever bother to go farther. So seems like starforce developers felt overly safe having their low-level access drivers and thinking not even some MOST primitive checking is needed except dpm... Maybe all my presumptions are crap wrong and it's just some strange bug produced by removing all files. So here's what you do to get SHOWWII working: Make image with starforce 1/2/3 profile, get dpm at low speed. Run your favourite iso editing software Ultraiso/Winiso etc. I used ultraiso. Now delete all files from the image. Click save as, save as bin. For reference, the resulting file size should be 68 208 bytes. Trash the cue. Now get original mds, rename the bin to original mdf. Now you have a mini image that's sufficient to make starforce happy consisting of original mds and mdf with all files removed... So starforce won't see that specific date deing read from hdd at the same time... Now do the usual stuff - unplug physically/disable in bios all ide cd/dvd devices, mount the image on alcohol/dtools virtual drive and it'll work. Thanks 2 Madk9 nforce forum |
By following your instructions I managed to play with the copied cd just fine. But ever since I installed that patch, it says my key is wrong.
I read someplay that the image-crack could be used for the patched (updated) version as well |
where to get sfclean.exe?
i am afraid the one from yahoo would hv been injected by virus... |

Anyways, concerning the CD Key thing. Well I dont have a problem with it. As people in that thread claim that their retail boxes didnt even come with a piece of paper with the CD Key on there. Also, by the looks of it, it appears to be a generic key for the US and Euro release anyway. I guess one of the other mods can close this thread or remove the link if they wish too :) |
The Cd-Key posted on Codemasters is the same that I have, i suppose all of us have it.
|
ive had that before on a couple of games, cdkey found on a small advertisment piece of paper, of which some games didnt have one (american conquest fight back) was the game i didnt have one for, took it back to store were they pulled one out of another box and gave to me. Why they dont put it on the cd itslef of manual i dont know.

lol a good reason not to put it on the CD is mabey when you insert the CD and it asks for the key... if you didnt write it down - you would have to eject the Cd to get the key, which is totally pointless.... just a idea |
Good things come to those who wait. After weeks of frustration and no patches your method (mini image unplug cdrom) is working!!! Thanx you all :)
|
I don't get why all these people are going through all this trouble to play the game without their CDs?
Isn't the whole point of a no-cd/crack to make your life easier without having to rummage around for discs? And now you're rooting inside your PC unplugging cables and rebooting. I can understand some people who are just pleased to overcome starforce and who like to test and experiment. As for the rest? ;) |
Hello!
with the 1.05 Version that mini-image workaround works perfect, but after updating it to Version 1.12 i get an "abnormal Program termination" just before the game menu finished loading...maybe the "control reboot" after patching is the problem... Does any1 have the same Probs??? or im just too stupid :) |
Iīve patched it, too. But I can play the game normally.
Reinstall it and install the game from your image drive, then iinstall the game and start it from the mini-image. It works perfectly on my PC. |
iīm too stupid, but made it ;)
take a look - it wasnīt a prob with the work around http://community.codemasters.com/for...threadid=45122 |
Soldiers of WW2 v1.0 [ENGLISH]
I have my hardware disabled in bios as well as winxp..and neither cdrom or extra harddrive I have show, so at this point I have to presume they are disabled..I use daemon tools 3.46, I mount your file but it does nothing...
are the file and the program have to be installed in a certain directory, I mount your file but nothing happens if I mount your file and then the game, it just looks for the cd key. If I am doing something wrong please advise. rebabevets |
rebabevets - it wouldn't work for me either until I actually unplugged the power from the cd drives.

There is no need to unplug phisically your DC/DVD unit. This solution have been posted before, i think, and it works. Simply go to bios, and disable IDE controller drivers where are plugged CD/DVD units. Then, restart Windows, mount the fix in Daemon or Alcohol Virtual Drive, and start the game. That's all.

well for the people who cannot access BIOS or just dont have and idea what it is yes you do need to phisically unplug your drives..... I tried to disable my drives through device manager but that doesnt work and my BIOS is password protected... so I just manually unplug my Drives and it workes perfect. :D |

I also play it on a laptop...
When the game is installed 1) mount mini-image with daemon tools 2) click on safely remove hardware 3) stop the cd-rom 4) launch the game 5) play easy :) |
DTM Race DRIVER 2
Soldiers of world war II and DTM RACE DRIVER 2 have both the starforce 3 protection and there is no crack available at present. I am very surprised how long it`s gonna take till the games are cracked. But I donīt know why there is a crack available for summergames 2004( cracked by hackers united) which is also a starforce 3 protection. So letīs wait and drink tea.

There is another way to use the mini image without disabling your drives. But it is a bit dodgy because you have to disable windows file protection.
Follow these instructions to disable windows file protection http://www.updatexp.com/windows-file-protection.html use at your own risk, but I have used it and works perfectly with all optical drives enabled. |

i also use a laptop and winXP...
removing the CS on the IBM laptops is a bit complicated thing, any solution to this ? |
Hey,
I've got the game working using the 80kb image, but my question is, do i have to unplug my CD drives each time i want to play? or just the once to get the CD key to work? Thanks |
You gotta unplug them whenever you want to play the game. Sorry dude.

Soldiers WW2
I found that the secret here is that you must use a VERY good quality CD like i used a Verbatim and it works but a cheaper cd does not and use 1 speed to burn with also follow the NFO closely
|
lol,
now my computer won't boot up without the cd drives pluged in any suggestions? |
