An ed2k link is now available on the download page, for now without serving the files. In the beginning most of the files will not be available as most people do not download to their shared drive(s).
If it does not work after some time an emule server will be added (as soon as we know how to setup one ;) or when there are other users who want to do this |

So Empire, how much of a donation would be needed to keep the mirrors alive or updated. Is it a new server or just better lines. Throw out some numbers. I'm sure everybody could afford $10 or more to donate towards it. I've done this before with a group and you would be surprised at how many people will donate. And then again you could always use the eDonkey thing. Try asking some of the guys over at Sharereactor for help on the code. Perhaps they can help

I would be up for that. We could even do an annual membership or something like that to keep this site alive and kickin, as it is the BEST site on the web. $5 or $10 bucks isnt such a bad idea if it means keeping the site going full throttle. Maybe allow visitors a trial period, and if they want to join....Ante up for the cause. I know you only want to do this as a last resort but where exactly do we stand on this subject. Maybe this would not be good for everyone but it is an option worth exploring. Maybe do a poll on our options to see what the other members think about this. |
Donations need to be on a voluntary basis otherwise it will turn in a membership system. This is something that we do not want (for various reasons) as we want to keep it free for all.
We are getting some donations (thanks for who did this already) but most are in the region of $1-2 which will take a lot of donations towards an additional download server (these cost at least $400-1000 per month for a 10-20 Mbit/s server) Some people are saying that running a emule server that you also will share warez... as far as I know we will only be sharing our own files... nothing more Also dumping the old files will not fix the download problems as 80% of the downloads are the newer files <1 month and the fun is to have as much as possible available |
I am going to help as much as i can EMPiRE... :)
|
Contact me ranger <at> ykclan <dot> com for a possible 100mbit.
|
Empire, can you post info on where to send donations or send an email at kojo48162********com thank you!
|
you can find a paypal-link on the GCW main site.
|
Thanks Eagle
|
GCW main site was down but I managed to navigate my way. Merry Christmas to GCW and all of our members!!!! ;)
|
How do i go about making a Donation?
|
I sent mine to empire using paypal
and asked him to apply it where it is needed to keep our site going. If you cant get to the link on the GCW main page, you can do as I did. |
well it looks like to me that every one here is concerned about GCW so what about this idea ... every one who has an internet connection also get free web space so u would a lot of links tho. so ..... if we all used a bit of our free web space to house the patches and cracks on they could still use the ftp/http links to the patches i know its a lot of work but could be done if ppl contibuted some of their web space i have 50 meg free web space and proberbly only use 5-10 meg of it which leaves 40 meg free most patches are around 1-2 meg but i supose u will need a lot of ppl to house all the patches and could well be to much work to get ppl to contribute their free web space the other way is to find ppl who have ftp sites and see if they will donate some space for GCW to use for their own usage i my self can offer 20 gig if needed
but this message could be just useless :D |
Another option would be for people who've downloaded a patch or two, to share them (just them, if they don't share anything else on eMule/eDonkey - which would help as far as making them easy to download). I'm downloading patches through the eDonkey links now, when possible, and have a share directory for eMule that i copy them into after i use them.

use restricted downloads. like, two cracks/nocds per day.
|
Just want to give some statitics about GCW usage in top times it uses more than 30mbit(1000 $ at least )
In normal times ~10mbit(300$) Too much visitor visits but none of them do shopping. What i wanna mention as owner of download mirrors if you want to keep GCW up please do all your shopping via GCW links use it as your refferrer |
So, can I download stuff or what? how do i get into the File Archaive? Sorry if Its a newb question, but I figured it was one easy to answer. Thanks in advance for your help.

Well heres an idea, a GOOD one i think:
Im sure many of the members here leave their computers on 24/7 for emule or wateva, i leave it on as i run a server, aniways the idea is how about the users who leave them on all the time, are provided with all the files in the gcw network wich might be dunno, 10 gig? or maybe not so much, aniways, and set up an ftp server and that gcw can have an "alternative ftp" that links randomly to one, if it doesnt work u try again and it links to another one, (dunno if this si possible) but hell, ill be rdy to do that for gcw after all the years it has provided me with having not to bother to put the cd in the drive :P |
and felar that wouldnt work as im sure most of the users might have 56k and the ip changes every time the connect.
|
how about DC++?
i use DC++ (Direct Connect PLus Plus) a lot and i think it would be a great idea to keep GCW alive. all you need is a hub and an operator (or bot) and the software to setup the hub. all info can be found here: Dc++ and the hub setup guide can be found here: Hub Setup.
dc++ really depends on the amount of users but it is a good way of helping GCW stay alive and free. :D |
paying for one crack or lifetime membership!!!
I would suggest to let the people pay for each crack they download and I would reduce the amount of cracks you can possibly download. Paying could be made with some own gcw dollars as a currency. And I think that there is too small disclaimer that tells you to click a banner. Why do the people get their cracks before they clicked a banner? Why is it so? If nothing helps the membership is the greatest idea I ever heard of. The people are possibly addicted to the cracks, they would pay a fee for one year or a lifetime membership in every case. This is just a ill-minded opinion of a registered user.
