Reminds me of the anti-modchip PSX games

Very stupid idea

Instead of the game checking ig its original, it checks if the psx itself is modded, and refuses to boot if it is. Meaning even ORIGINAL games wont boot on a modded psx. Thats when the stealth chips came in.

Actually the courts overturned the original decision now it's illegal to 'mod' a ps2 as it they deemed 'to be circumfenting the copy protection'

What about the fact that copyright protection prevents us form the right to make a single backup of any software we own?

to the courts it doesn't matter. they came to the conclusion that we have no right to make a backup of a disc.

Great, so basically they ruled in favor of companies getting money over us getting our rights.
