Well all, I'm having a handful of problems with DVD X Copy. ( Sorry Bighap I didn't update you sooner) I got the beta version first, Only got one DVD to backup successfully (Goldmember actually). Now that I have the full version everything seems to be going okay except that DVD X Copy always splits the DVD up into 2 discs. I don't know how to make it fit on one.
My biggest problem now is that every second disc hangs and freezes in my panisonic dvd player. I read on the website that this is a known problem and they are supposed to have an update to fix it. I'll let every one know on my progress. |
so far I have successfully backed up several DVDs onto 1 disc, and several split between 2 discs.
I believe that I just have the Beta version as well, but seems to be working. What I do, is just select ALL titles over, and hit copy. When it has copied all that can fit onto 1 disc, I burn that disc. I then test out that first disc to see if it fit the whole movie on it. 9 times out of 10 the whole movie plus beginning intro/menu is on the first disc, so I just don't even bother letting it create a second disc. The only stuff that shows up on the 2nd disc is deleted scened, etc. which to me isn't really worth it. If the whole movie didn't fit onto the first disc (ex. Lord of the Rings) then I allow it to create the second disc. I hope that made sense, and helps. |
Which DVD's are the 9 out of 10 that said they needed 2 discs and then they fit on one? My version says "split after chapter" and that tells me where the split between dvd's will be. Tell me some other DVD's that you have backed-up on one disc and I will try them out. Thanks.

off the top of my head, try these three movies
Mr. Deeds Austin Powers 3: Goldmember Van Wilder All 3 said they required 2 discs, so I began copying/burning like the required 2, but I just stopped after the first disc, and the whole movie was on the first. |
i tried goldmember but it would only let me backup onto two dvdrs even though i removed all the extras it still only split it into two and when i tried to move the chapters up so it would fit onto one disk when i got to the second last chapter it said it was too big?it would still only let me put it on two disks.
so how did everyone else do it? which version of dvdxcopy do you have i have dvdxcopy 1.2.2 lollyruk pioneer 105 |
everytime i try to back up any movie on my dvdxcopy it always freezes during the burning stage i have the latest update for nero 5.5.9.17 but i am using dvdxcopy 1.2 does that have anything to do with it?

DVDXCOPY V1.3 is the only version that supports PAL movies properly.
This could be your problem. |
Bugzy: There is a newer version of Nero available. You can download the update for free at nero.com.
|
ok where can i get a version of DVDXCOPY V1.3 ? i will try that see if i get any joy with that version but can anyone tell me how to put a movie on one disk only instead of two?
|
You can download the update at www.dvdxcopy.com. Not all movies will fit onto one dvd-r. Try Mr. Deeds, Austin Powers 3: Goldmember, or Van Wilder. They are suppoed to fit one one disc, minus the extras I am assuming.

lollyruk, I went ahead and sent you a PM, but I figured I would post in here as well, just to let everyone else know how I got Goldmember to fit on one disc.
here is what I do. Start DVD X Copy and insert the movie, and select ALL titles to copy. Don't worry about removing any of them, just select them ALL. Go ahead and press the button to begin the build. When it has saved all that it can fit onto 1 disc onto your hard drive, it will tell you to go ahead and put in the blank DVDR. Go ahead and do it, and then press the copy button. When it is done burning onto the 1st blank DVDR, it will tell you to insert the movie again. Remove the 1st DVDR, and go test it in your DVD player. The whole movie should have fit onto that 1st disc. I just test it out by skipping through all chapters and making sure you get to the credits at the end of the movie. All that should remain for the 2nd blank disc is the extra's/deleted scenes, etc. At this point I just scrap it, and don't even bother with the 2nd half. I hope this makes sense, and feel free to ask me any more questions or to clarify anything. Let me know how it works out for you! I did the same thing for Van Wilder. On the original Van Wilder disc, it will let you play the movie in either widescreen or full screen. Since I only burned enough for one disc, my backup only plays in widescreen, and not full screen, which I am ok with. Let me know if any of you have any questions. |
alder which version of dvdxcopy are you using?
|
dude
i am using versioin 1.3 so far i have tried 12 dvd-s all have backed up ok including the dvd-5's to single dvd-r's |
okey i upgraded to dvdcopy 1.3 and neros newest version but i also successfully copied and burned the dvd but when i went to play the newly burned disk in my player all i got was a frozen screen and skipping audio?
|
Try playing it on your computer and see how it does. Your dvd player might not like your media or dvd-r all together.
|
bighap have u ever viewed the preview split in dvdxcopy and it was distorted, well thats how the movie turns out? happens on everymovie preview split is distorted and thats how all the burned movies come out and i also tried it in my dvd drive and comes out the same way audio and video distortred?? no idea?

Using dvdxcopy1.3 and the latest ver of nero i first i used the nero in dvdx to burn the movie and it does nothing in my player and on my cpu it gives me an error with a bunch of numbers. So i tried again using stand alone nero to burn the dvd-r and the all that came up in both my player and cpu is the dvdxcopy warning screen. Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong? By the way the movie was Hey Arnold and it fit on one dvd-r. i've made 2 coastes don't want anymore:confused:
