I have copied ra2, The allies cd, using clone cd
and a Plextor 4/2/20. but for some reason the Soviet cd wont copy. it even has trouble loading the original. Any ideas as to my problem

GermanFlag 13-04-2001 04:36

Yes, you can use the 4804 (I have a 4802), because the Mitsumis are Philips based.
The 4804 can even handle 800meg discs.

dartanian 13-04-2001 17:52

I have made a successful copy of Ra2 allies disc, But failed with the soviet disc. I used a Plextor 4/2/20, with clone cd. Anyone help with the Soviet cd?

kintama 16-04-2001 00:33

I use the mitsumi 4804te. I have had only a few games that have given me some problems. IGI, Undying, and well that's it! All games I have tried to copy work no sweat with clone cd. I ended up using Nero for IGI, and my Undying works 85% of the time. You guys that complain about coasters really should know that the full game is on that coaster. You just need to figure out a work around for the disc verifier. I have also noticed with undying that if you can click on play right when the splash screen pops up the game will work? Maybe somehow it is overriding the protection on the disc?

I use the Mitsumi as well, but have had no luck with SD2 protection,on Hitman. I spent about 2 weeks foolin with it and wound up downloading the patch. And only because I was gettin p****doff copying and eraseing. And I did a bunch of reading on a bunch of different burning sites and keep hearing that I have the right hardware but still no luck!
Firmware is 2.4c, and no one seems to know if burning it to an RW first to see if it works is my problem!

Liber@tor 21-04-2001 21:52

Well, Safedisk2 is sure copyable, but u will spend few blank disks, guesing the right configuration - the easiest way is to create the CDimage with all "Read SubChannnels" selected

Liber@tor 21-04-2001 21:56

I'm using Sony CRX160, sure it's great, coze it's got 0 (zero) buffer-underruns, well at least I never got one and I have a dozen of SD2 "cloned' disks that work great!

gart 23-04-2001 07:57

Ive been burning SD2 for ages now...Get a clue

kintama 24-04-2001 16:07

Hitman is really touchy to copy. I have burned it twice and both disc's worked just fine. The last one I burned I had to get the patch for it? I think alot of it has to do with you system and how it is setup for the day.

ue_bigjim 30-04-2001 22:13

i assure you that sd2 IS copyable. i have a TEAC W54E and have recently made a fully operational copy of dflw and mw4 with having no patch at all. you just need to right program and the right cdrw. most people say the you must have a philips technology based cd writer in order to copy the sd2 protections. i found that either this isnt true or my TEAC has this technology. i have used the copy i made and #####ed it out on several other computers ie. friends, and the copy works perfect. i can even use the patches and updates for the game. need i remind that dflw #####s the authenticity of certain files to ensure their originality.

anyway. all these replies to this forum makes me think that either you wont believe me.....or there are just lotsa jelous people out there that cannot copy sd2 protected cds. in any case i have living proof that sd2 protections are copyable.....whether you believe or not, is on you. but either way, im happy and i guess your not.

ptoleme24 01-05-2001 01:41

plextor 12*10*32*

with clonecd i doesn't work
with instant cd dvd 6 i doesn't work
hon can i make a perfect copy with my plextor?

ue_bigjim 01-05-2001 09:38

i used clone cd to make my copies. i used the clony settings:

read subchannel data from data track - #####ed
read subchannel data from audio track - #####ed
fast error skip - #####ed
read speed - 4X
read retries - 3
error correction - none

everything else un#####ed

these are the settings i used. i have made perfect copies of safedisc2 protections. no cracks needed. it works on other computers. i have used the cd in several different drives....even my piece of shit compaq....and it works fine. i hope these settings will help some of you.

i thought i was unfortunate to be able to copy safedisc2 protections. i never tried to do it because of all the forums that i have read. however...i finally tried it anyways and have been successful. it seems that if one person posts it, then people assume that it is correct. well i find that to be untrue. good luck all.

ue_bigjim 01-05-2001 09:48

oh yea....and dont forget when burning the image to cd....use these settings

write speed - any
select raw-dao
select dont repair subchannel data
select burnproof if you have it
select close last session

all else un#####ed.

you know i say all this in case you havent #####ed out the the copy instructions in gcw. owell...i hope this will at least help someone. cause it works here.

ptoleme24 02-05-2001 06:22

hahaha try it with black and white

and a plextor 12*10*32*

it doesn't work !!!!

robthedog 23-05-2001 15:43

Can a Mitsumi CR-4804TE copy and successfully make a working backup of Safedisc v2 games? The 4804TE does RAW reading and RAW writing, as well as sub channel reading for both audio and data. I have read some posts somewhere that this CD-RW does copy and burn SD2 games... Anyone use this drive?
Would also like to know if a creative 8432e can copy sd2 and if so how - just a newbie so any help great

Kasper 25-05-2001 17:00

Yes a Mitsumi CDRW 4804te can copy safedisk v2, or so it can for me and i use 3.0d firmware.

I have copied RA2 and hitman, no probs in using it in my cdrom (ACER 50x) and a buddies creative 52x and another friends 40x Asus.
I didnt select anything i read it as fast as it could and i burned it at 1x, it took awhile to burn but no probs!
It can be done!, but it appears that Mitsumi's are the very best to do it with!

German Flag said that Mitsumi's are philips based products, not true!! :)
In fact with my writer i have been very successful in writing many copyright protected cd's including safdisk v2 with a copy!
Maybe im lucky or patient but it has been completely 100% successful for me and to think i had a HP 7570 before this, lol!

CheerS!

Barkuti 02-06-2001 19:24

Woa this topic has been open for a loooooong time!

I have a Mitsumi CR4805TE (which is a slightly faster 4804TE), and till the moment I think is one of the greatest writers available!

Now I've been trying to backup my B&W game, but I'm not obtaining perfect copies cos my Creative CD5233E doesn't work with them, although the writer reads them with no flaws. Anyway the Creative crap takes at least 3-5 min. to load the original, so I'm thinking it's on the bleeding edge.

żDo you have any special tips? I used SONY CDRW's to test, got a coaster with a Kodak but I think I didn't burned it correctly that time.

Please don't say me I've spent almost 70 bucks in changing my old Panasonic shit for this baby just to continue applying cracks plz.

Greets :)

ana_geo_s 03-06-2001 12:28

Any writer can do Safedisc 2 using Unsafedisc 2_05_30. Download the program and send me a mail to help you!

hmmm 03-06-2001 13:51

this is notrue, for starters my burner Ricoh MP6200S is not supported by Clone CD and according to the doco never will be. I've tried 4 times to copy eRacer and haven't been successful yet. As for using unsafedisc2, when you try to crack the eracer.exe file it prompts for the original cd and then returns an error. the only way I been partially successfuly is to take an ISO image and use daemon tools to mount this as a virtual cd rom, but I'd rather have a carbon copied cd.

If you use that, you can forget about official game patches or you'll have to crack since you apply them. Oh, well, you can make a "support" disk, multi-session filled with sucesive released cracks for sucesive released official patches, but that's bullshit.

$park 05-06-2001 14:44

got hold of an original of 'E-racer' (safedisc2) so cloney says!
used the settings it gave me, fast error skip on ,3,none
copy was a coaster :(
use copy sub data audio and data only , works a treat :)
burned on a plex 12x10x32 ide (firmware 1.02) works in a tosh dvd rom :)

Barkuti 06-06-2001 08:43

Damn I also get "working" copies (use B&W for testing), but only if I read subchannel (tested with both). And I don't use fast error skip; I've noticed the Mitsumi CR4805TE only supports hardware correction when you enable this (I use CCD 3.00.20 beta). But anyway, it's very fast reading errors so I don't need that shit. :P

Must get some VERY HIGH quality medium to test (pure GOLD medium); goint to test the medium reflectivity theory.
I think B&W has one of the strongest SD2 protections :'( , so you should give it a try to see how good your writer is managing it.

See ya

$park 06-06-2001 11:50

Barkuti, funny you should say about that (medium reflectivity ) found with some unbranded 80's that when copying SD2 games some dont work, but keep running the exe and for some reason it starts up !!??!
burned the same image on a cdrw and the game works fist time everytime !!?!?

tonyG 08-06-2001 06:35

i have a mitsumi cr 4804TE
i tested B&W which seems to be sd2 protected
however unsafedisc2 doesnt work with it so i used the fixed exe as oppossed to the nocd exe that way you get the cd music.
i made a copy with clone cd but whilst it worked the first 3 times now it gives unhandled extraction errors which when viewed in debug visual C++ they appear to be intentional altough dont quote me im not a certified expert on these matters.
