Yeah, I remember now he said something like that some time ago... would be nice if there was somekind of workaround, like renaming the files to non-special characters, compress them and get them renamed back once they are extracted. I guess the same records.ini could be used during list generation and installation

Yea, Wonder why didn't I think of that... Too bad, I no longer have the source for UltraARC.

reiji777 18-08-2015 18:04

which files should I delete to have english version only?

pakrat2k2 18-08-2015 18:19

its not know what cas files are what, so to have English only install the English version of the game to have English only. Still trying to figure out which files are which to reduce the final size of conversion, maybe remove MP files if it can be determined which ones they are.

steve_gerry 18-08-2015 18:28

is this use compression or not ?

yea, if we can somehow figure out which .cas files are MP only I'd imagine the space savings would be huge.

Did anyone manage to make such a determination in previous battlefield games that used the .cas file system?

Uncompressed MP-only content is 2.5 GB, compressed -~ 1.8 GB
I've decided not to excluded it, risking game bugs. also Google bf4dumper, python script. Then it takes manual analyzing of extracted files.

Way too much work to save ~700MB & dont know if NOT having those files present will cause ingame bugs to appear.

Smurf Stomper 21-08-2015 10:26

thanks for the info. I thought the MP files would be much larger...

pakrat2k2 04-09-2015 09:22

You can goto Win32\Loc & remove all languages files except the one you want to use, save about 10GB

Hello, very good post and I put the game on DVD.
But I have a question ...
As I can do to make the stay data.cab:

data1.cab = 8000mb
data2.cab = 8000mb

or data1a.cab = 4000MB, data1b.cab = 4000MB, 4000MB ... then data2a.cab.

So when I put on DVD9 disk and change requests asking me the right (as although it is part of the game but with different numbers are) not if I explain well ???

Thanks for the post and thanks for this response.
Greetings from a Uruguayan.
