All the EA Sports line-up for this year it's using online activation. EA wrote with tiny letters on the box and in the manuals: internet connection required. For more info please visit....Aren't they sweet?
I've wanted 5 games from EA for this autumn: RA3, NFS Undercover, Dead Space, FIFA Manager 09 and Crysis Warhead. But me burned with Mass Effect and Bioshock, I've decided to spend those money on games from other companies. Maybe I'll buy those when a collection or a budget edition will come out and I'm sure that I can play the games even after a couple of years.

In all fairness, its a simple online activation.

People cry about using their discs all the time and intrusive protections.

Then they cry again when its the opposite.

I mean ffs, EA has given people the opportunity to protect their media and still people complain. And the most who complain? Thats right warez users. Moaning face cheapo's. :P

If you play with a pirated version you get sacked at the end of the season, that's for sure. If there will be a new pirated version without this problem, we have other things that won't work. Enjoy. FUCK YOU!

This is not a warez site and the forum doesnt support warez issues either.

Please take your rant elsewhere.

What I'm complaining mainly is the limited number of installs and the fact that we don't know for sure if EA will release a patch to remove all that DRM after a year or two. I can post the pictures for Bioshock and Mass Effect. And if Bioshock it's not a subject to complain (well, it is partially, but Take Two said that they will remove the protection completely next year), Mass Effect is. Ranging from poor support to the limited number of installs mainly. Yes, I do rant on the EA official forums, too. And, I won't buy the games that I wanted to buy this autumn from EA. It's my choice.
That being said, I'd leave the matter to a rest and I'll hope for a budget edition without a drastical DRM that affects the customers and not the pirates. The pirate versions don't have limited install numbers, nor a need for online activation(i can partially accept the last, but not a limited install number). Not buying, not playing and this is it. Hell, I have friends working at the Ubi, EA and Activision/Blizzard and they are doing the same. Not even them aren't happy with the new policies as they see the effects of the new DRM first hand. The tech support number is costly, the customers aren't happy, they are swamped in calls, mostly that are sounding threatening and they are tied to the company's policies. I feel sorry for them, as the decisions are taken by the higher ups and those aren't willing to hear about the things that they deal with on a daily basis. What can I say, when you trat customers like stray dogs, don't expect a rise in popularity charts.

How will they remove protection if activation part is contained in setup, thus requiring an internet connection just to finish the installation?
I don't believe there will be something like "copy entire DVD onto your hard drive and replace setup files with fixed ones"...

releasing update moron... w/o protection (I dont think there's auth during instalation, it only checks if disc is orginal [think so, i dont own fallout 3 european version])
ok but back to topic
@wolfsrain there is no limited installs just limited number of pc's
You can use it on up to 5 PC, different configuration will be noticed, too bad there is no option like in tages to export file and upload it to www they supplied i cant play on my lap now i need access to internet, too bad my admin does not allow me to add 2nd pc (mac and wpa2 auth) and i got wireless on one only...
this is good idea from one side (activation is done at 1st run of the game later you dont need DVD) but on another hand no internet = no play

TippeX 07-11-2008 06:23

rshone just got a holiday...

@theholyone, nice try at an excuse there with 'my laptop does not have inet access, and my admin doesnt allow me blah blah'... pity the games also allow offline activation via email/phone/whatever which kind of shoots your argument down in flames

wolfsrain 07-11-2008 09:05

theholyone, try the following things: format the hard, just reinstall the OS, upgrade any given component. You might be surprised to see how your activations are burning.

nando2002 07-11-2008 09:08

the patch #2 for FIFA09 includes now a de-authorize.bat file to recover your activations.
the patch was released today.

There's are step in the right direction, now only time will tell what they do about the activations in say 2-3 years time. The obvious thing to do would be to release a crack which removes the activation process.

First, I'd like to see you call me moron if we meet face to face, and second, yes, activation part is the last step of installation. If you cancel it, it will roll back everything and delete copied files.
So whatever they do, the game will still require an internet connection.

Stop being childish, flaming or attacking forum members will get you into trouble.

But if a moron is someone who starts fights then yes perhaps he is right :P But he is wrong for calling you a moron first off.
