I play with this edit and game running normally, but with patch (better fps, less lags, memory tweak etc.) I don't get any error. And when they release new crack on this patched version. I return files to \Data\ folder, copy crack and play along :). Its possible can missing gossip common NPC. But I dont know... I don't test common NPC gossip. But quest NPC are working normally.

For those (edit: using DT 4.06 and still) getting the 'emulation detected' message without a 4/5 digit SecuROM error code:

- remove/disable any virtual drive
- open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices and delete all values (they'll be automatically regenerated after reboot)
- uninstall SPTD
- Reboot
- (re)install SPTD
- Reboot
- create virtual drive in recommended DT version 4.06 and try again

! If you've changed any drive letters in Windows drive management deleting those reg values will undo those changes. In this case you may have to correct some Start menu entries and desktop links.

hmm...so using a simple crack is out of the question to some of you?
I need no emulation or mini image for mine. but whatever.

Fortunately I havent needed to make any modifications to my install files or registry.
I disabled all virtual drives except the one vSCSI drive made with Daemon Tools 4.06, and turn on YASU. Easy to do, should work with any future patches.
Ive tried several things that resulted in emulation detection, but didnt have to reinstall or do anything else to fix this besides use an older version of Daemon Tools.

No Sound
 

I've tried two cracks by Vitality and Fairlight. Both allow me to play the game but without sound. Each time the game starts, just before the menu appears, I get a lot of loud noise and then nothing. I'm playing on an Intel-XP SP2 system with 2 Gb RAM.

Does the original game work OK without using any crack?

HGL has plenty of problems all by itself in single and multiplayer, for me and many other people it seems. Fixed exe or image hasnt made this any worse or better for me.

One very strange thing that happened to me: any time I went to Covent Garden Market, an outdoor area in the game, PeerGuardian would get exception errors, taskmanager wouldnt open, basically forcing me to restart. I turned PeerGaurdian off, went through the Covent Garden Market area no problems and get to a new area. I then exited out of HGL and turned PeerGuardian back on and have played the game in several places since then no issues. My guess is that HGL's ingame ads were trying to be updated whenever I entered into this area and were blocked by Peerguadian, and then HGL did something to make Peerguardian crash. It sounds very far fetched to me but I'm at a loss really.

I recommend waiting a month or two on this game until it is hopefully all worked out, but at the same time its pretty fun if you can deal with the BS involved.

The new updated version is 1.40.25.4015, previously version was 1.10.180.3416 (the version of the cracks available)

I will be waiting for a new crack. BTW, I know there are already a trainer for 1.40.25.4015 not still available in GameCopyWorld.

I did. Using mini image or fixed exe has no effect on the stability (or instability) of HGL. Read what you quoted. This is my experience only, and I am no expert, I am here sharing what I can to give and receive help. Why are you demanding answers for a general question which wasnt directed at anyone specifically, and definitely not at me. I am going to assume you simply misunderstood what you were reading, and not that you are trying to accuse me of something.

What about using the original DVD?
Do you have the original game?
You talk on mini-images and cracks, looks like you don't own the game.

The question was if the game worked ok without a crack, like the vitality fixed exe on GCW that I mentioned in my first post. I said that the game crashes and has other issues whether you are using one or not. I couldnt say that if I hadnt played the game with the orignal dvd now could I? If anyone has the wrong attitude it is you. I am not evading anyones question, if I was I wouldnt try to help out by answering it now would I? You really were accusing me of breaking forum rules I guess. This has gone plenty off topic, if you have a problem pm a moderator or something.
