Hm... Maybe offtopic... But as Halo 2 is a Vista-only game by "software" as it does not use dx10 yet... Is it than against the rules/eula to release a win xp crack (if there will be one at all).

Just asking because of curiosity and for maybe future titles as I am not interested in halo 2. Halo 1 also sucked in my opinion. So I wonīt give the second shot a try^^

Maybe something to add to the rules? Nevertheless we saw some Win-98-fixes for games which should only support 2k/XP-Systems... Canīt remember exactly... Doom 3 maybe? Or was it some other unreal-engined game!?

Who cares if is legal or not Microscum break users rights making this "Windows Vista only" garbage : If they did maybe after 3 years or 4 years after vista release when xp were less used and people pass the time period whne as OS is too new and the bus must addressed could be justificable but making for faster is rididculus . So Microcrap broke it's right using this unfair tactic against their users. Most companies doesn't do craps likethat . But Generally M$ does

And apart from that the crack just make the game compatible with xp doesn't break copy protection or the serial so I don't see the problem

I guess the real problem will come if M$ releases update patches of Halo 2 to fix or the other game they did this ( can't remember the name right now) coz the crack could stop function and it will need an updated version ( and We never know if the cracker will update the program or not)

Let's keep it civil. Game compatible with Xp shouldn't be a problem. Crack for the game online activation, yes.
Just my two cents.
And MS forced people to use Vista by imposing to companies like Dell, Gateway, Micron and Alienware to offer for sale only PCs with Vista pre-installed. Luckily, the customers complaints in the court made all those companies to bring back XP as an option.
Vista might not be an upgrade option, as MS announced that they will release the next OS in 2009. Remember how long it took for the game market to start offering games dedicated for XP? More than 2 years. So if the next OS will come in 2009, I doubt that will see a massive migration towards Vista.
