i heard that egosoft released a nocd patch for X2, also protected with star**** so there is a chance to make a working no cd patch also for X3.
I think i will wait for that becouse it is too uncomfortable to unpluge the ide cables every time.

No DABHand is right.. no-dvd = .exe overwrite and no emulation... what you have here is emulation + image + other protocols (such as disconnting power to cd drives).

There is a big difference being that no-dvd = easy crack. Your method = more difficult.

Agreed. My policy is... if I have to do anything physically to my hardware just to start a backup.. its going too far.

I got it on friday from a friend. right after testing (that is is running), i have send it without any changes to GCW and different other people.
What is different? The one I got seems to run without problems?! :confused:

Wow! Used Deamon tools 4 and dident have to remove any drives or use any tools, just mounted the image and played the game. Ha! starforce beat at last.
BTW Im running version 1.2.1.

UPDATE:
Just tried same thing on my other computer and it did not work, can't figure out why, they are both very much alike in hardware and setups. So why work on one and not the other, if we could find out the answer to this it could be the end to all our problems.

I've found that as well, surely it's not just us two who are having this problem? I'm using Firefox by the way but I've tried IE and the situation is the same. Unable to download on any of the mirrors over the past two days.
