V7s are by far the best type of PS2. Simply get a new laser unit for the V7 and then get it modded. V12s are the biggest POS I've ever seen... :(

Oh for real, thanks for the info. How do I get a new laser unit? My V7 is already modded with a matrix infinity.

edit: looks like they have a bunch of laser units on ebay -- I don't know about messing with that stuff though because I would have no idea what I'm doing.

Got a New laser for my v4, installed it and it works like a charm. Will extend the life but since I have a V4 it won't by much. Bought the laser from www.richspsxparts.com. Great service and speed.

Oh yeah, would you say it's hard to install a new laser? I think that is the way I will have to go, after I try to clean my laser of course. I'll check out that site.

it's not that hard. Just plug it in and follow these calibration instructions and it'll be reading discs like new again :D
