Thats what i was thinking, on one forum a couple people said the sonys have like a lifetime warranty where if you talk to them they will actually fix disc read error problems and such for life. If you mail it in. Does anyone know how long the warranty actually lasts as long as i dont open it?

cheryl771 03-01-2005 18:22

Uh til Sony goes bankrupt
or you die
or it's obsolete and you don't care anymore
or you mod it
or you take off security seal sticker
It's about 10-15 bucks to mail it off to Sony if it does die. And even after Sony does repair work on it-it still gets an additional 30 day warranty. Give it some time. I know it stinks having to wait to mod it but consider the price of a new laser-ouch. Best to give it some time. In the time you spend waiting just use that time to save up money for the chip. :D

Hi,

Newbie here :)

I'm interested in getting my PStwo modded by GWD - http://www.gameworlddirect.co.uk/cat...oducts_id=2669

Does anyone know if this chip will allow the playing of backups? The site refuses to discuss it, from what the page says. Other than playing import games, does it have other advantages?

Much appreciated,

TwitTwoo

If its a real Martix infinity a simple firmware update will allow you to play backups.

lufcfan 05-01-2005 16:16

It will play backups - but you'll have to flash it with the latest version of the Infinity firmware to do so. It's an easy job, i'd happily tell you how to do.

That's a top site. I've had plenty of dealings with Ben - great bloke and a really reputable site as far as I and many others are concerned :)

I've PMed you but haven't got a reply yet...maybe you didn't get it or are busy. So, how do I go about implementing this firmware update and where can I get it from?

Memfis 08-01-2005 12:00

lufcfan 08-01-2005 13:11

Sorry mate, I've been very busy. First, I was putting my new computer system together, then I did some revision for my A-Level exams this week and then my new website. Sorry I couldn't get back to you...

Yeah, something like that, you could check out a currency exchange site like xe.com for the exact rate.

btw, I bought a Matrix Infinity and a Neofix off Gameworlddirect last night as Diveneo was taking ages to get the Neofix in.

Now guess what, today I get an email saying they have them in stock! Always happens to me...

Although the site seems very professional and keeps you informed the whole time. I hate it when I don't know what going on.
