er, any1 knows anything about a crack to v 1,2?

I bet the patch haven't been out in 2 weeks...

I've spoken to some who say the patched game works fine with the original Hoodlum crack,and others who say that installing the 1.2 patch itself caused problems on other games they had installed not just Bloodlines.So I'm leaving my copy unpatched for the present.
Got a feeling this won't be the last patch we see for this otherwise good game in the near future...

I've just made a clean installation of Bloodlines, then used the official v1.2 update, and have noted the modification dates and sizes of the 2 files that are included in the no-cd crack. here's the results:

Original files (from clean installation)
vampire.exe - 7th Oct 2004 05:12, 1,291,215 bytes
vampire.dll - 14th Oct 2004 19:06, 9,139,197 bytes

Modified files (from official v1.2 patch)
vampire.exe - 7th Oct 2004 05:12, 1,291,215 bytes
vampire.dll - 2nd Dec 2004 16:13, 9,094,142 bytes


As you can see, the vampire.exe file is not changed at all by the patch. therefore the one in the no-cd crack is fine and should not need changing.

However the vampire.dll file *is* changed, and so even if the no-cd crack still works with v1.2, we need a new version of the crack making from the patched .dll file so that the updates are included. (otherwise by applying the crack you are essentially removing some of the fixes that the v1.2 patch has done)

Sure this will be done soon. It's making the crack in the first place that's the hard work that needs waiting for. As it's been done once, cracking the patched .dll should be pretty easy.

from the readme of the patch:

· Fixed crash to desktop when the player returns to the boat after rescuing Johansen from the Society of Leopold.

with the hoodlum crack, and applied patch I still crash there

As Grumpy said, the crack .dll file overwrites any changes made by the official patch. In addition to fixing the boat crash-to-desktop bug, there's some additional dialogue that I'd love to see (having Isaac acknowledge the completion of the Gargoyle quest, for example), and some other big fiixes.

The game is still playable (with the major workaround in the console for the Leopold bug, of course) without the patch, but it would be nifty to have both the convenience of the NO-CD crack and the latest patch!

Thanks to the amazing folks doing that work, by the way! :)

indeed it would... c'mon hoodlum! we're still waiting for a v1.2 crack :(
surely it can't take this long... should be a simple job as they know what they're doing from the 1.0 crack

i compared the original dll with the cracked one in a hex editor but i cant figure out what has been done to crack it. anyone want to teach me how to crack dlls?
