So I rewired using pins 1,8,6,13. Drive ejects and stuff like it's supposed to but now I get red/green flashing

Well ****. I'll have to wait till later to work on it.

infertility 21-10-2004 16:54

I'll check back later myself when you have it completed. :-)

Frito 22-10-2004 08:46

It seems to be working now, for some reason it really wanted a controller plugged in. So now that it's all working again, i'm going to try to wire up the power.

I'll let you know how it works out.

Frito 22-10-2004 15:23

SO ****ed.

Yeah, don't do it, I though I had everything mapped out right but I powered it on and the DVD drive started smoking.

It's all ****ered up. I pray it's just the drive and not the IDE controller I trashed cause now it's sayin HDD errors.

Error code 7 whatever that is.

Geezus this sucks.

I've been playing my xbox without a DVD-ROM attached, and it worked fine. I then decided to give up on the samsung hack, and install my thompson back into the xbox. Now, my thompson doesn't work anymore :-( Everytime my unleashx dash appears, my DVD-ROM (WITH NOTHING INSIDE IT) tries to boot an imaginary disc, and then it goes to my msdash, and says this disc cannot be played, etc, etc. I've tried with the chip on and off, and I get the same response. I'm going to purchase a samsung that comes straight from an xbox, so I can avoid anymore loss of money and time. But does anybody know why my thompson isn't working anymore? all the cables are pluged in? :-(

TylerDurden 26-10-2004 17:17

Damn guys, I think Ive learned a lesson here.

Tyler! :(

Haha.. Live and Learn Tyler. I ordered another Samsung drive. There's a guy I found in google selling the 616's for 16 bux a pop plus 8 shipping. Got one, gonna try this again. :D

During this ordeal, I have lost both, my thompson, and the samsung I was going to hack. I'm just going to buy a samsung straight from an xbox off of ebay. *sigh*

Quall999 03-11-2004 19:37

well, i am sry it had to resort to that.

I notice you have a lockable 300 gigger now though. I relaly didn't think there was any.

Wait.. why? Just cause you can't power the samsung drive without a Y connector?

LOL, yup! I found one about 6 months ago. The reason why I added the serial number, is because there's 2 different 300gig HDD's by Maxtor. The serial number I give is the one that is lockable ;-)

I somehow fried the samsung, I lost it completely. And my thompson just died out of nowhere. Maybe static electricity was the cause, idk. So down the road, I'm going to have to buy a samsung. And to add to all of this. I have a custom painted xbox, and the xbox face plate for the DVD-ROM was thrown away as well. *sigh* :(

TylerDurden 04-11-2004 16:41

Is there any way we can get some pics of that xbox? Id like to see it.

Tyler!

infertility 04-11-2004 17:50

nah, you don't want to see it, lol. It's my first custom paint job, I used silver acrylic paint. I didn't know what I was doing. But I like it because it's different. I added a 8mm blue cold cathode light for the jewel, and I installed a blue eject light. :)

Frito 05-11-2004 07:37

I want to case mod mine but it's so hard to try and find something that hasn't already been done :(
