I find when backing up my Safedisc games that the first 4-5% takes about 15 minutes the rest only takes approx 5 minutes tops! And yes that is a very sweet tip ;)

Use fast SafeDisc backup it takes about 3-4 minute to read the hole cd include the SafeDisc protection sectors, on a 40X reader...with alcohol... ;) (maybe even less of minutes)

yeh iv made the safedisc copy of bfv successfully, took something like 9 hours.

Im having some trouble trying that shortening method listed before. I opened alcahol, minimised it, ran rome total war and exited, then maximixed alcohol and ran safedisc 2/3. Seems to be going at normal speed, 2% after 1 hour :(
