Sounds good to me.

i kinda agree with scub on this whats next hddloader at your local EB,walmart or any another local store that carries ps2s.
i can see the hddloader hurting sony pretty badly in the long run. although a great idea the abuse of this product that can be done by an 8 year old spells trouble. now if hddloader was aimed at multimedia ie..divx movies,mp3s i don't think sony would be bothering with this at all. |
Im against the skub on this one. If we continue to make laws that stop the temptation of people then we will be living in a law infested hell. I will not give up my rights just because some jerkoffs cant controll their feelings and buy a game instead of ripping one off.

There is nothing wrong with backing up a game you own, be it on CD, DVD, Mem-card, HDD, etc.... Just dont abuse it. Of course this will always be an issue which no amount of protection can resolve completely. Some of our very own members here are extremely skilled. ( I dont like to use the term "Hackers") A very large majority of us ;) dont abuse our gaming rights but  we will always have that 10% to deal with no matter what! Thats where TD, Warlock, and the rest of the Mods come in  with their Quick trigger fingures! |
well there a good point but as i suggested when an 8 year old or even 13 stumbles into the nearest walmart on his b-day with mommy to buy a game he walks out with hdloader this is assuming that sony get zilch the judge says it's ok to have hddloader.the son then goes to video store with dad that saturday rents 4-5 games at that age they do not even come close to understanding copyrights or federal law nor do most dads or moms that don't understand a thing about hddloader or what it even does it has a k rating so sure they buy it.
then son is getting free games as much as he likes very bad for sony. point is most 13 year olds don't solder in a chip nor would a 8 year old but hddloader my 3 year old son could operate. |
So!
Can your son operate a vcr? Im sure he probably could. Now does that stop people from stealing movies? Well who knows but, people are still making movies so there must be a profit. We can assume the same thing about games. Also if kids are stealing games then parents need to be the ones that take the blame not HDLOADER! Tyler! |
Well said TD - Spot on there... :)
|
this has turned into we agree to disagree.
|
Actually I think its more of a "Im right and your wrong".

IMO $ony wouldn't place C&D orders if this software was homebrew and not commerically sold..beacuse $ony see they are making money with this program...the stop at anything to get them to stop selling it
Most of the Xbox hdd loading software is homebrew am i right? |
It’s a very complicated subject. Lets not forget what giant conglomeration spearheaded the burner industry while manufacturing the world’s best selling console.
Sony’s got a good thing going on, they are media giants producing music, games and movies. They are electronics giants producing hardware to play all this media. They invented, developed and produced CD burning equipment and recordable media. Even if your burner is not a Sony brand,. You can be sure it has some Sony components or leased patents. The talented artists signed to conglomerations like this might see 5-10% of the profits, maybe a few lucky ones 15% at the most. The cost to mass-produce these pressed CD’s and DVD’s, well under 50 cents including case and inserts. It’s no wonder ever other artist in the US seems to be popping out their own labels. Music, games, DVD movies, they could sell all these CD’s for under $5 and they’d still be raking in billions. But wait a minute!! What about the huge rental and burning industries these conglomerations have a stake in? They’d all fall flat it they started selling CD’s for a reasonable price now. It’s a fine tight rope Sony needs to walk to stay on top. Maintain just enough sales to keep prices sky high, keep demand high on popular titles, destroy overstocked titles. Keep the moral majority fooled that Pirates are the real thieves while selling them the hardware they need. Don’t talk about gray market profits. Pressed Original = 0.50 Blockbuster rental = 3.99 Recordable media = 1.00 Playing the victim = Priceless !! |
