He sent me those pics. I dont have to ask anything since Im not claiming they are mine. And since when have I cared if anyone gets mad?
Tyler! |
lol yea i spose so :)

I'm still cutting Lexan. It sucks cutting curves. I tries using the dremel first but it just just melted and warped.
So basically i have to cut it deep with a razor then break it off. It's taking forever :( |
Okay, I finished glueing the lexan into the DVD drive and it's getting assembled after this post.
I have a couple questions. Should I do the etching on the inside of the plastic or the outside? This weekend I saw some lighted glasswork with the etching on the inside and it looked great. I don't know how well that would work with Lexan though. I guess I can try both if I have to. What do you guys think? Also, anyone know a soft enough material to clean the surface for this crap? My cotton t-shirt scratched it up pretty bad :( |
What about that stuff they make mops out of on spindle polishers? It's a bit like cotton wool, I don't know what it's called... That'll polish it up real nice...
|
polyester or nylon im not sure
|
Any pictures of it now with the Lexan??? Looking forward to seeing it complete
|
yesh look very nice :) im sure the material ur after is either nylon or polyester

Hey guys I finished cutting everything. But I hit a huge snag. The acid I use for glass etching burns and "fades" the lexan It totally sucks balls. So I think I'm gonna have to use paint or something.
So since that's gonna take me a while I just decided to the rest and go back to do the etching later. Anyway, I'm hooking up the lights. (Fan on order) And I don't have my Multimeter at work. (Forgot it at home) Can anyone tell me which is power and which is ground from this pic? If I had to guess I'd gamble the one on the right is ground. |
I didnt think it mattered how you connect lights as long as there is a closed circuit! Cant you just hook them up to either, or is there only certain points that can be used due to other stuff included in the circuit?

I'll check latter is I get a chance as to which is + and which is -. |

Course, there are points specifically for them so I just took for granted, they were like regular lights. Thats good basic info to know. I have never worked with EL wire though so I just learned something new. Kewl Thanks Sped ;) |
Yeah, I'm using EL wire. 'cept the power connector it came with was yellow black as opposed to red/black. So now I'm wondering if it's 5v when it says it's 12v.
:p Time to investigate! |
