Havent really thought to much about it, but I'm sure I could just step it down to what ever I needed.

A little sheet of frosted / translucent type white plastic under the logo should blend the light source out nice and even with either EL wire or LED’s.

WOAH, you guys have to much time on your hands.

Yet I'm liking your ideas.

why do you even have to use the exopy glue ? why not just run the el wire under the ps2 lettering. Dunno i ordered a bunch of el wire... i do paint jobs but i wanted to do light mods as well.. ill post some pics soon.

spedmetal 25-03-2004 22:16

mmm.... just gives it a more finished look, no big holes in the top for crap to fall in and just looks cool, it also dissipates the light better. I did try what you suggested, and it just didn’t look as good as it does now.

I also put a peace of foil behind the EL wire to help reflect even more light.

In earlier ps2 dayz visual mods (especially green led's behind the vents) were quite popular. Sum dude fitted a perspex bubble to the top of his version 3 and had a neo 4 and a multi region chip mounted on a black perspex lump in the middle of the bubble underlit by green neons. Looked pretty cool an a good way of showin the mods off. Unfortunately bad version ps2 and bad mod, still. Mustve cost a fortune to do as well. Will see if i can drag up link to his site...

@ spedmetal- Ps2 lookin V.Cool

Oh one other thing I forgot to mention, with out the epoxy the peaces you cut out are kind of flimsy, especially on the 'P' and the '2', and the epoxy helps make them rigid again.

For those that want another color then just a regular black case.

http://www.colorwarepc.com/content.aspx?id=29

Evidently Colorware is approved by MS, SCEA, and Nin because they offer extended warranties on the consoles they sell.

It's not a vinyl skin, it's actual electrostatically applied epoxy resins-paint/plastic. It akin to automotive finishes.

So it should be strong enough to handle the acids of human hands since as you notice they will color the controller(s) for you as well.
