are you booting with the correct boot instructions? i dont know them as i have a dms3... are you saying u cannot boot ar max with your chip enabled?

trackml2 18-02-2004 20:02

yes

yes, disabled it boots fine but then, of course the back-up dont

eakinsme 19-02-2004 12:30

BOOT WITH CHIP "ENABLED"

trackml2 19-02-2004 12:44

let me calarify

OK, here's the deal;

With the chip ENABLED:
I cannot get the AR Max to boot at all, it says to insert a PS1 or PS2 disk, but back-ups will work.

With the chip DISABLED:
The AR Max boots as intended but when it comes the time to swap to the back-up, no luck, it reads that it cannot read the disk.

Sorry for the confusion.

eakinsme 19-02-2004 13:53

well then u mite be screwed. you need to be able to boot ar max with chip enabled to play backups!

TylerDurden 19-02-2004 13:56

Heres a thought, maybe try backing up the AR2 disc and using that when the modchip is on.

Hmmm

That is a heck of an idea. I'll try it.

trackml2 20-02-2004 07:33

.

I know this thread is getting old, but another question. With the Magic V 50K there is a different boot sequence for PS1 games.

Is this because they are CD rather than DVD?

The reason I ask, the AR Max is a CD. So when I try Tylers Recommendation, I will be trying to boot a backed up CD (AR Max) then a backed up DVD.

TylerDurden 20-02-2004 08:49

PS1 games use a different code thats the reason behind the different boot for ps1 games.

Ps2 games should boot the same with your chip no matter if they are cd or dvd based. Just burn on a cd and load like you would any other ps2 game.

No luck backing up the AR Max cd. I tried cdrwin, clonecd and recordnow max. I tried "on the fly" as well as image. I keep getting errors. Oh well, the AR Max thing aint a big deal anyway. But thanks. If anybody ever does figure this out by experience, please post it. Thanks for the help.

Gamesharks and probably Action Replays have always been a bit hard to back up. They give lots of errors and take a long time to read. But Ive done a gameshark before, myself. I know Blindwrite Suite will do it.

trackml2, I did test your unit (like I do with all my installs) with my back-up of Gameshark V3 and it booted just fine. I dont have AR so I cant say anything about that.

All rite guys,

Magic V (clone Version) on version 9 ps2 does have some problems loading up AR MAX (Both PAL & NTSC). Booting it up is a hit a miss thing. I've got the highest success rate by doing this:
1)Turn on your ps2 from standby mode by pressing Reset.
2)Wait till it loads up to the browser Menu
3)Press Eject and put in your AR Max
4)Press Eject to close the tray and wait for about 5 to 10 secs
5)Select Disc Icon and press X

It will usually works for me, but hey ARMax is a piece of CRAP to me. I bought both the NTSC and PAL version and they are just sitting in the "TRASH BOX".

I've decided to use my old Version 2.03 Action replay(Mine is a PAL Machine). Which you can enter codes for both NTSC & PAL games, and it boots 100%. As for time consuming code entries, I'm using the keyboard so it's not as bad as using the controller and YES it saves the code in the Dongle instead of the Memory card which in my opinion rather small.

Cheers Hope it works for you.
