I sure wish that there was an easier way to find this elusive Phoenix program.... It sure is too bad that it is so hard to find.... If only someone would tell me... that would be so much easier.

has anyone here already backed their games and if so how long on average does it take for the whole process?

Bushwick2002 19-02-2004 20:50

around 52min for each gamecube game.

frequency 19-02-2004 20:59

thats not too bad then. and how do u play ur backups? do u use cubesoft phoenix to load the game and stream it from ur pc to ur gamecube?

Bushwick2002 20-02-2004 11:58

yes, I use the cubesoft phoenix to load up and steam the game from PC to GC

frequency 20-02-2004 15:14

to stream ur game to the GC, all u do is turn on ur GC and load the game image in cubesoft phoenix. do u need PSO to stream the game?

Bushwick2002 20-02-2004 18:20

yes, you need pso inside the gamecube to steam, backup your games.

frequency 20-02-2004 18:34

so let me get this straight.....u need the cubesoft phoenix to backup ur games and too stream them from ur pc to the GC?

Bushwick2002 20-02-2004 21:38

yep.

frequency 20-02-2004 22:27

its kinda funny that u need to buy another gamecube game in order to backup ur original games :p .

I can't get the backup ripping process to work on Phoenix 2.1. My game freezes at 100% and nothing else happens.... Then if I try to load the game it freezes right after the "Loading" screen.

HELP!

Bushwick2002 29-02-2004 14:54

give it time, once its at 100% its still finalizing the iso, which will take some time.

thewessman 01-03-2004 14:30

I tried leaving it on for several hours and still nothing. I'm going to try your advice and leave it on overnight. I don't think it'll work however, since I use NetLimiter to view and control my network traffic, and I can't see any exchange of data between my GC and my PC.

I'll post again once I have more info.

thewessman 03-03-2004 08:21

Ok, I left it on overnight and nothing happened. I use a piece of software to view my network traffic, and as soon as Phoenix reaches 100% my network speed from the GC drops from 289kb/s (or so) to 0kb/s, but Phoenix continues to send 4b packtes to the cube every few seconds as if waiting for a reply. After leaving it overnight and noticing this communication, I unplugged the cable to my GC to see if Phoenix would recognize that the connection was dropped. Guess what? It didn't. Therefore, it is safe to assume that after the ripping reaches 100%, Phoenix stops communicating with the GC and waiting will do nothing. It just sits and waits for the GC to send it more data, and until it receives whatever little data it is looking for, Phoenix won't finalize the .gcm or .iso, which is why the backup file doesn't work when I try to load it.

hmm.. if you still having problems with the phoenix ripper, you could try the original ripper.dol btw what game you trying to rip
