Any network card will work as long as its standard compliance includes ACPI
It will be written in the specs, just check that b-4 u buy it.

As for the pint, not required, just 1 thing in return,
You help someone else 1 time. :) Then were even.

crazygamelover 14-12-2003 02:26

Well then, we are back to work here then. I will stick this out with you. We will get it working. Hopefully :)

1. Ok, what kind of broadband are you using? (DSL , Cable, other?) Broadband Modem brand and model number?

2. When you said you were going to shut it off and let it cool down a bit, what was hot? Was it the computer, modem, ???

3. You said the NIC is still out, do you mean pulled from the Computer or inoperative.

seaneyb2003 14-12-2003 06:04

1. Its a cable connection. Its an ethernet converted usb thinggy ull find out after the print screens i will send u

2. the psu was hot but i was going to bed anyway so i shut it down

3. I took the network card out of the pc i got some print screens if you want to have a look pm me ur email address or contact me on msn at seaneyb**********com

crazygamelover 14-12-2003 10:31

I will email you and see if we can get you sorted on this. The hard part is already done. We have identified your problem. You are gonna need to use that NIC i think. We can try 2 things from this point. You got mail......

Hey Sean, I take it, that you were unsucessful at the disabling acpi. The bios upgrade was also unhelpful. I have been going round and round here to think of something we missed, but I cant think of anything, other than emachines typically a big pain in the keester.
Have you contacted your local cable internet provider and asked them if there is another form of service they can provide, or if they might know a remedy to your problem?

seaneyb2003 16-12-2003 13:44

grr nope :( its all to do with the bios now its the pheonix bios
got to get it updated im going to get it fixed as well it cost me 30 pounds around 45 dollas

crazygamelover 16-12-2003 16:00

I can relate to your frustration, as this problem has been quite a pain so far. :(
Hey mate, perhaps this site can help. They have a live assistant (chat) during the business day hours. Not sure what the time zone difference is but if you can get ahold of one of them, maybe they can figure this out for you. I sure hope you can get it working without putting more £££ into it.
Hang in there. Sean

crazygamelover 16-12-2003 16:10

here is another site you can try. This company offers a pre-prograamed bios.
