No, no, no. Why do most people always do it the hard way? There is no music cd that can't be copied but it's not how you would expect.

Just get a digital cassette player and feed line out from it to your line in of the sound card. Play the cd and use another utility to record it to the HD. Then use nero to burn the tracks back to a cd or whatever. the options are endless.

I know that, and I guess we all do - it's the "obvious" method.

But on the other hand, although it's easier, it's also slower since it call for additionnal .wav editing of the file(s) to trim out the extra blanks and adjust the final track sizes. This can be tedious at times...

Besides, NOTHING beats the the overpowering sense of bliss and self-satisfaction when having defeated a copy-protection, ie. made a 1:1 backup, right? :D

there has the easiest way to copy the file from protected AudioCD

use the "cracked" CDFS.vxd file and replace the one thats in your Windows 98 \Windows\System\IOSubSys. It will show all the file in Wav format and just use copy and paste them in your computer and backup to the CD. That's it. But since everyone is using WinXP not 98 there is a problem.

See, i thought that would be simple enough, I was prepared to use WinDAT to edit the silence off of the beginning and end of the track, however the output file's volume is sooo low. So quiet. Then when i tried it through the Mic line-in it's louder but the quality is worse. I bought the CD, I want to listen to these songs on my iPod, but I can't. Very annoyed - it's been keeping me up at night! Seriously!

Oh my god - I can't beleive how easy this was to finally beat. Windows media player 9. While I still can't get it to play the CD off the bat, going into it's copy CD mode it recognises all the tracks and only the music tracks, and, as long as the "copy protect files" box is ticked, it rips all the tracks perfectly to WMA format. then all I need is to convert them to MP3 and send 'em on through to my iPod. Excellent.

...you can convert WMA to MP3... can't you?

Might be difficult because of the M$ DRM **** on the files. I'm sure someone has a solution for that though.
