Personally i prefer using fixed .exes - but thats just since my burner doesnt even support RAW
I prefer using them as well, but the ones offered on Gamecopyworld still don't seem to work. Perhaps I'm doing something else wrong.

I can't remember if my burner supports RAW. It's been so long since I've actually given it a run for its money. I don't think CloneCD supports it tho. It suggests RAW-DAO 96.

Whenever I try burning a CCD image, CloneCD ALWAYS gives me the following message:

Writing to CD Failed ILLEGAL REQUEST: INVALID FIELD IN CDB (5:0x24:0x00)

I would use ClonyXXL, except everytime I open it, it tells me to get an ASPI layer, and the site they offer doesn't work. And half the program is still in german, I'm having trouble understanding it.

What about the other CloneCD frontends?

Alright... finally....

After imaging the disc with Blindread, and burning it with Nero, I've finally made a perfect 1:1 copy. The same problem still remains: Daemon Tools fails to play the music (Analog or Digital Audio Mode). After looking around, I'm curious about one thing- Is Daemon Tools the only Virtual Drive software worth working with? I've heard of Insektors, FantomCD, and even the Nero VirtualDrive manager, but are any of them any better than Daemon?

Again, thanks guys for all your help, you're what makes this board great.

I think Alcohol has a virtual drive thingy, although i have never tried it. But you might wanna give it a shot:

bang bang!!!gotcha!!!just kidding..is this alcohol something like daemon tools?

gh0sth@cker 02-11-2002 04:10

It's a mixture of Clone CD and Daemon Tools - only it beats both programs at their own game :p
Alcohol can copy SD 2.8 where CCD cannot, Alcohol can offer over 30 (i think) virtual drives compared to the 4 Daemon Tools offers and it can also emulate Securom 4.8

As nice as the program is, it greatly depends on your reader/writer when it comes to a perfect 1:1 copy. I wish I could benchmark my drive to see what it was capable of.

Have a look here to see if your drive is listed. You want your drive to have two sheep in the EFM scale and be capable of reading and writing subchannel data. This is about the best you can hope for with a cd-writer now-adays.

Thanks for the link Ghost. I have a 2-3 year old Sony Spressa USB. Hardware tells me its a CRX100E, but the drivers (included with the unit) tell me its a CRX120E. And according to the list, either supports SAO/DAO RAW. I think I can burn in either mode, but I've never had sure-fire results that tell me I have a RAW burner.

And also, as the list reports, my CD recorder is crap, supporting neither SubChannels nor proper EFM handling. I'm more or less concerned with creating perfect BINS to run on Daemon Tools. I create all my images using my CD-Rom, which obviously supports READING of all the stuff i need.
