If it is a NTSC v4 as you think it is, then go for a Messiah, they rule! PM dust2dust or charlie_ps2 about buying one from them.

I have the SCPH 30001, 8 screws and date code of 1B. I created my first backup today, how do U know if it is a good one, what files are supposed to be on it? if i did it right then i would be interested in purchasing a Messiah Chip. i used CDRwin 3.8, AddZer0 frontend, and then burned the image to a disk. my email is [email protected] Thanks

Your PS2 is Messiah compatible for PS2 games.

Your CDRWin method is OK for non-EA or copy protected games. It would be better to use CloneCD for all CD copying (www.elby.de) but you would need to check that your reader/burner are 100% compatible with RAW-DAO+96 in the site's compatibility list. CloneCD produces 1:1 copies of CD games.
