I guess pakrat has already tried that and nothing has changed. There must be no other replacements from "msc.exe" to "reflate.exe", or such functions by extracting? Or this goes to arc.ini? Don't know much about that.

Btw: Where is the modified UA with reflate? Can't find it in first post.

Good question.

I'm new out here and downloaded this UltraARC but I'm unable to use this. It only stays in taskbar but no new window pops up. I've tried to open it by windows7 in compability mod (I use windows 10) but no success....what can I do now??????

nope didn't realize that I had removed it by mistake, now back in first post.
ive tried 3-4 different ways, compresses just fine, but gives CRC error on extracting any files using reflate option ( just selected msc, lzma set in ultraarc.ini ) then chose source & output. As I said before it compresses files fine, just cannot extract without errors

Or, Setup.exe has stopped working.

I give up here.

UltraARC

MANUALLY edit ultraarc.ini, & remove the paths for source & output.
just looked at my installer & forgot to remove the paths when I did test run.
NO Issue with UA or installer, just Simorq cant even look at a simple notepad
document for something wrong.......

The culprit is ultraarc 3030. Download the ultraarc mods archive from the first post, and use ultraarc 3040. It works for windows 10.

pakrat2k2 11-02-2017 08:33

I'd still stick with ultraarc mods ( 2410 ) most stable on all OS win7,8,10

Well you could use weak methods, you could use tor in place of lzma, no idea how it fares in terms of speed and ratio but it's worth a shot.

Anyways, I'm working on replacement of this tool.

Honestly i don't know what all of those methods are for and for what file types.

And this time better make a backup of the source on some external drive like a usb stick :D

This is possibly the best advice I have seen someone give you Razor. :D

romulus_ut3 19-04-2017 23:21

An external drive or a USB stick is just as prone to failure like a Mechanical Hard Drive.

Things get much worse if you're dealing with a solid state drive, because these tend to fail without any prior warnings whatsoever.

A cloud storage is a more robust solution, but seeing where Razor's from, I don't think that's a viable solution for him either. Telkom charges a limb or two for unlimited bandwidth, if I recall correctly.

Pity Razor lives too far from me. Recovering data off of dead hard drives is just a matter of few hours for me. ;) Granted, if I can manage a donor drive that matches the model that failed on him.

pakrat2k2 20-04-2017 06:47

^ you could also try Ubuntu it seems to sometimes also read HD that fail within windows.

Except it isn't, but seriously I wonder how is it any different from just setting output directory to external device. Or if you're asking for the splitting thing to be completely removed, well that isn't a problem either, all you do is just set a volume size bigger than game, game will be converted to external device and no splits will be created. Done, this feature is already there.

Well too late, I already opened the hard drive and extracted the magnet it had inside, don't really remember why I took it out though. :D

MANY thanks to Razor12911, Simorq, KaktoR anyone else who I may have missed, apologies for doing so. These new updates will surely help the conversion makers in achieving better results in the output area.
all files from posts 713-715 have been added to first post.

78372 28-04-2017 08:21

This update is buggy. Full of errors when I choose reflate/pzlib.

KaktoR 28-04-2017 08:43

What update you mean? Inno script or UltraArc?

And what error/bug?

PS: I can confirm with reflate there is an error "arc.exe has stopped working" if you compress multiple files (it seems).

I have compressed one single file (over 15GB) -> No error.
I have compressed a folder with over 1000 files -> arc.exe has stopped working.

To fix that, go to config1.txt and change -l9 to -l6.

Also pzlib don't work with multiple files. One file works, 2 or more files don't work (arc.exe has stopped working).

I don't have found a fix for pzlib until now.

78372 28-04-2017 09:15

Arc.exe stopped working

Edit: Thanks, I will try tomorrow and report back

KaktoR 28-04-2017 09:18

Read my previous comment if you haven't until now.

Have wrote a fix for at least reflate.

pakrat2k2 28-04-2017 10:09

UA 2500 + reflate update archive back in first post.
