intallation on two comps

Hey guys isn't possible to install the game on more than one computer? I tried to install it on another but it wont let me because it says the cdkey is already registerd, which it is. So are they saying that the game can only exist on one computer per copy? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Ok, so Vengeance just released a Retail HL2 version with NoCD crack and Steam emulator. Does anyone know if it also works for the UK retail DVD?

YES! Read the software license came with the game !!!
The solution: Buy another copy for the other PC !!!

In France authors can't forbid you to install the software on another computer if it's the only way to use it. For example you're allowed to install it at home and at work even if the software license forbid it.
So, installing HL2 on two computers may be legal, depending on your local laws and your intentions. Why do you ban people asking a way to do that? It's a normal "game copy".

Edit: Even bypassing Steam activation may be legal in certain conditions

I do not come so far. Because i have no Internet Connection at home. So i even canīt activate it.

Q: Is there any chance to have my Steam account banned if I use hijack's no-cd crack???

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

1a. He isn't from France, he comes from UK.
1b. "...if it's the only way to use it." How can it help to play the game on PC#A, when i install it on PC#B? If PC#A don't have a Internet Connection, you can install STEAM (not the game) on PC#B to register the Serial-Key and create a Steam-Account. If you want to play the game on PC#B you have to deinstall it on PC#A.

2. Because of the Board rules!

3. perhaps, but if anyone discusses about it on this board, he/she will get banned. (Reason: see 2.)

Dont have DVD rom!

The Hijack file seems to be working fine. When I start it, steams starts up.. But that is isnt solving my problem..

I got my hl2 copy as a gift.. The problem is that i dont have a DVD-Rom...

I installed the game through the network. My neighbor has a DVD-Rom.

When I wanna start to play the game, I have to confirm my CD-Key in the Steam Browser.. When I have entered my key correctly, Steam asks me to insert my HL2 Copy in the cd/dvd rom..

Is there any ways to bypass this without buying a DVD-rom or borrowing one..

You could set up hijack_hl2.exe to launch by putting a shortcut in your startup directory, and making sure that the "working directory" of the shortcut actually points to the correct location where steam.exe is located.

If that fails, then a simple batch file that manually switches to the correct directory and launches hijack_hl2.exe should do the trick.

Someone asked about (and was subsequently banned for asking about) installations on multiple computers. I'm not sure that this actually violates the license agreement, as Steam makes it pretty easy to do this. The problem is that once a CD key is registered with Steam, it will appear as though it is impossible to register the game again, because installation always asks for a CD key -- and this will be a problem if you reformat and reinstall the game on the original machine, so it affects more than just those who are installing on multiple computers. The solution is to simply hit "Cancel" when asked for the CD key after you've already registered it. Since you've already registered the game, Steam will authenticate when you log in again.

This type of stuff I do not understand. You have the graphics card and processor etc to play the game, but cant spare the 15-20 bucks needed to buy a dvd rom. Get a job, you bum!

im having some serious issues with this, or my cracked hl2.exe or something.

i get a "cant connect to steam" issue about 2 mins after i am in the game, and then if i click ok, the game closes.

if i dont click ok, it plays for about 5 mins tops, and then gives me some memory dump errors and the game crashes.

but NOW, since trying this hijack stuff and all this, all my folders on ALL my drives are read-only and wont change back..

so, im a little upset, and i dont know what could have caused this. formatting isnt exactly what i wanted to do before i played this game.
