Seems to be just kraken streams, Use the Unreal plugin in xtool..
Should look like this:
xtool.exe precomp -mue5:k0x7A29E66C3CB184042A44F5E35EC023504940867C38 2D2E8E1185E0F146D25B45+kraken -c64mb -t100p -d1
Code:

Compressing pakchunk9-Windows.pak
Compressed 1 file, 1,587,512,507 => 4,549,507,714 bytes. Ratio 286.58%
Compression time: cpu 2.83 sec/real 686.82 sec = 0%. Speed 2.31 mB/s
All OK

Hello KaktoR. I compressed *Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain* using the DSG Module 2.0.2.4 version; however, the installation fails when I use the setup wizard created by mausschieber. The game files get corrupted because they do not revert to their original state during the restoration process following the compression of the game files and audio assets.

After restoring the compressed files for *Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain*, the original files are not being restored. I have prepared a detailed video regarding the issue I encountered; the video is a bit long since I recorded the entire process, but I hope it helps explain the problem.

I would like to show you the video I recorded.

Since xtool 0.9.9 is out, use the following config

For zstd streams:
l22
-cfgzstdb128k
library 1.5.7

Code:

Processing input: G:\Total War WARHAMMER III

Streams: 128848 / 207465
  - zstd:l22 = 128848 (61,21%)
Patched: 128848 (9,09 MB)

Size: 84,4 GB >> 127 GB

Time: 01:50:32 (CPU 09:38:50)

Missing streams are most likely the ones which are ~20-100 bytes in size.

For lz4f streams:
l12
-cfglz4ds1
library 1.9.4

Code:

Streams: 18363 / 45852
  - lz4f:l12 = 18363 (0,38%)
Patched: 17777 (0,50 MB)

Size: 84,4 GB >> 84,7 GB

Time: 00:08:10 (CPU 00:03:43)

Here again very small streams so most likely they are skipped by xtool

Skip verification
Code:

Streams: 45852 / 45852
Patched: 0 (0,00 MB)

Size: 84,4 GB >> 84,7 GB

Strangeland - Build 24350307

These two Files contains entirely vorbis audio:
Speech.vox
Audio.vox

Mesa to extract the ogg file and xtool erase command for xtl

After Extraction:
.ogg file:
Code:

oggre
rest of the files:
Code:

zlib+srep+lolz
Input:3.9 GB
Output:0.9 GB
Unpacking Time: 5 Mins on 8 threads

KaktoR 26-09-2026 06:31

I will tell a secret. You can extract with xtool aswell.

Code:

xtool.exe precomp -mogg -x"G:\output" "G:\Strangeland\speech.vox"
Output folder must exist before.

Spinneret94 26-09-2026 06:43

^^
xtool.exe precomp -mogg -x"output" "audio.vox"
Code:

Processing input: audio.vox

Streams: 0 / 755
Patched: 0 (0.00 MB)

Size: 187 MB >> 187 MB

Time: 00:00:05 (CPU 00:00:01)

output folder is already created like you mentioned.
Not sure what I’m doing wrong:(

KaktoR 26-09-2026 06:57

The extracted files should be extracted to output folder in RAW extension. It works fine here.

Make a batch file with this near xtool.exe and drag&drop the file onto batch file.

Code:

@echo off
CD /D "%~dp0"
if not exist "_output" mkdir "_output"

xtool.exe precomp -mogg -x"_output" %1

pause

Spinneret94 26-09-2026 07:05

^
Seems to work fine now, I was thinking the raw couldn't be compressed with oggre lol.
Tested on the Extracted Audio.vox by xtool:
Code:

Compressed 747 files, 195,173,370 => 171,879,133 bytes. Ratio 88.06%
Compression time: cpu 0.22 sec/real 26.18 sec = 1%. Speed 7.46 mB/s
All OK

KaktoR 26-09-2026 07:08

Glad you figured it out.

There is also wwise extraction. Very usefull because mesa lately fails everywhere.

You can extract all possible streams with xtool as long as xtool supports those streams.

Spinneret94 27-09-2026 06:30

Fields Of Mistria - Build 25397335/v1.0.5

1. Assets.zip
Extract it!
Make a hdiffz patch between the extracted folder to the original .zip file, patch should be 3.88 MB(with lzma2).

2. On the Extracted Folder:
.png & rest of the files:
Code:

mpng+srep+lolz
mpng=xtool precomp -reflate+png

.bank files:
Contains fmod vorbis audio so used This tutorial by masuqerade to process them.

Input: 620 MB
Output: 240 MB
Unpacking Time: 5 mins (Including Patching Time) on 8 threads

You can extract the wwise vorbis with xtool and then use oggre on the extracted data.

Yes, I’ve seen it, but I have no idea how it’s done. If you know how, I’d be very happy if you could show me—whether through pictures, visuals, or a video, whichever is easiest for you.
And I have no idea if I'll be able to restore the original game files.

Spinneret94 28-09-2026 00:06

^
Sure, first you can extract the ogg using xtool like this:
xtool.exe precomp -mwwise+ogg -x"output" "Input.file"
You need to create the output folder before starting this! Input is your game file which contains the wwise vorbis audio, you can change it to the actual file name.

Then use xtool erase on the extracted folder to the game file:
xtool erase "Output\*" "Input.file" "Test.xtl"
Output is the extracted folder of vorbis, and input shall be your particular game file and the xtl is the small patch which will be used in future!
Then use oggre to compress the raw extracted files as usual.

Now to bring the back file to it's original state:
xtool decode "Test.xtl" "Output" "Input.file"
xtool will use the xtl file created earlier and the extracted folder of vorbis to put the files back into your Particular Game file!
PS: I don't have the game files myself so idk which of the files contains the wwise vorbis audio

I don't use Diskspan GUI anymore but there was a thing named callbefore and after batch..You have to use those to use the commands I explained to you:D

I would like to extend special thanks to Spinneret94 for the support provided; however, I was unable to succeed because I was trying to use DiskSpan_GUI.

Hello Kaktor, I would like to ask you to prepare a "DiskSpan_GUI" configuration for the game *Control Resonant*—using the best available compression methods—similar to the pre-made database setups you have created for other games in the past; this is because the standard compression tools found in game centers are unable to compress this game effectively.

KaktoR 28-09-2026 02:52

They have changed something in game archives which will it make impossible to use the alan wake 2 method. But still I think they use lz4hc even for this title.

However looking at the scan profile for this game you should be able to get at least 80% ratio with simple srep+lzma, 70-75% with lolz and another 5-10% with wwise processing and bink compression.

Edit: As for wwise processing, well, good luck with that. I am out.

Anyone know how to precomp a Unity game from 2016? The game is "Perfect Golf". I think the game's version of Unity didn't support LZ4 so it might be LZMA. Asset Studio can unpack the Unity3d files so they're not encrypted. Here is a sample.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Remastered

Looks like they switched completely to zlib only.
No more doboz+lz4hc.

But I have to wait until it's completely downloaded.

Edit:

Any idea how to do LZMA with Unity? Would I need to get the exact lzma.dll from the old Unity SDK and do this?
