ultraarc 3030

1 Attachment(s)
hey everyone, please help me
i am using version 3030 and compressing Mortal Kombat X with these methods:
msc, srep, exe, exe2, delta, lzma

My aim: i want to split 35gb into 2gb/part
but the result is bad... i dont know whether i was wrong in setting?
thanks in advance

LuzhinE 24-06-2015 06:55

It is better to make a single package, compresses better to be doing blocks,

pakrat2k2 24-06-2015 09:36

Just change volume size to match whats equal to your setup files
IE: dvd5 = 4480 ( MAX ) - ( Setup.exe, setup.ico, autorun.inf ) 25

Volume size->4480-25=4455
Threshold=100

It will do the splitting automatically for you.

mrcunbeo 24-06-2015 10:31

let me try again, i wonder which version should i use ? 2400 or 3030?
and,
Mortal Kombat X's size is 35GB
i set output folder to 100GB available partition (D partition)
but C has only 30GB left
is it possible to compress with your (pakrat2k2) setting?

pakrat2k2 24-06-2015 11:00

you can use the settings I mentioned & as long as you have at least the 30G free on C that should be ok, as long as you do the conversion process on D.

mrcunbeo 24-06-2015 21:14

Hi everyone, i am writing to you to report my results:
game: Mortal Kombat X
size : 35,7GB
compression method: Freearc: msc, srep, exe, exe2, delta, lzma
my aim: split folder 35GB to 2GB per part

First try:
Computer hardware:intel G2030 two-core 3GHz, 4GBram, AMD 7850HD
2TB hard disc, 4 partition, both folder input and output are in E partition with 135 GB free, but C partition(windows is set in C) has only 30GB free
Ultraarc v3.0.3.0
Output setting: split to dvd5, but set volumes sizes to 4300, threshold 100%
Status: FAILED, it stucked at 10,3% for 8hrs

Second try:
Computer hardware:AMD Athlon II X4 635 Propus Quad-Core 2.9GHz, 4GB ram, AMD 5770HD
160GB hard disc, 1 partition, both folder input and output are in C partition with 65 GB free (windows is set in C)
Ultraarc v3.0.3.0
Output setting: split to dvd5, but set volumes sizes to 2000, threshold 30%
Status: SUCCESS but it is NOT my aim because it splits into 5 parts with 5.3GB, 3.8GB, 5.4GB, 7.8GB, 7.6GB
Time: about 7hrs

Third try:
Computer hardware:AMD Athlon II X4 635 Propus Quad-Core 2.9GHz, 4GB ram, AMD 5770HD
160GB hard disc, 1 partition, both folder input and output are in C partition with 65 GB free (windows is set in C)
Ultraarc v2.4.0.0
Output setting: First volume size 1024, custom volumes size 1024, Threshold 10%
Status: SUCCESS, and it comes up with my expectation and splits into 1GB per media folder(about 24 or 25 media folder)
Compressed size: 26,4 GB :)
Time: about 7 hrs

Finally, i have something wondering:
1) I have NOT test decompression process
2) My second game I want to compress is GTA 5 with 52 GB(no multiplay), i want to ask which compressor METHOD should i use to fit 4x DVD9 ?

Thanks everyone, Have a nice day!

pakrat2k2 25-06-2015 09:27

go read the GTA5 topic it tells you what to use for dvd9 settings

chum 25-06-2015 13:03

The software is not capable of split single file bigger than the selected size?

Like have an 12gb single file in game folder and choose to split in 5x DVD9 and the 12gb file just keep there intact after compression.

Only way i find to create smaller files from single big file is using IStool which use only Lzma and split everything to 1.9gb files.

UltraARC works perfectly fine with HUGE files, just select the gamefolder & output size dvd5/dvd9 then the volume size.

IF using DVD5 then:
First Volume Size = 4450 ( this number is your setup.exe files - CVS )
Custom Volume Size = 4480
Threshold Percent = 100

IF using DVD9 then:
First Volume Size = 7920 ( this number is your setup.exe files - CVS )
Custom Volume Size = 7950
Threshold Percent = 100

IF your setup files on dvd1 equal 30mb then the above examples are good. just substitute FVS ( equal your setup.exe files )

mrcunbeo 27-06-2015 01:11

hello, can you tell me the different between TICK JPG recompression and UNTICK JPG recompression?
which makes better compress(time, size)?

I tried in AC Unity but even at UA version 2.3,2.4 and 3.0.3 all keep failing when it become to create data1.

I tried with splitting folders before Ultraarc to test, i just splitted manually 46gb of Unity in 2 separate folders each with 23gb then Ultraarc is capable to compress one folder 23gb and split them. But if i tried with all files inside same folder with 46gb then Ultraarc fail when start creating data1.

Razor12911 27-06-2015 14:17

Guys, I repeat, never use 100% threshold for big folders. For example, GTAV, the game is 60gb, if you use threshold that big then you will need 120gb for compression and decompression if you are going to make it fit in a media such as dvd5 or dvd9. You can only set threshold if you are sure that there won't be spliting and merging taking place. Take Max Payne, 35gb, you can set threshold to 100 if you are going to fit it in a BD50 since there will be no splits and no additional space will be required. I put the threshold on 30% for a reason.

LuzhinE 27-06-2015 16:03

Split: None Threshold 30% compression is great and gives the same time installation

Split: None Threshold 100% compression is small and gives the installation while 30%

The Evil Within Complete Edition, 6 DVD5 result 24.7GB

The Evil Within Complete Edition, 2 blocks 17 GB

Ultra ARC not let me do
Split: None Threshold 100% if the final size would be 13 or 14 GB

Pakrat, whenever you have time, please update the attachments by removing Rar.exe. I recently read the license agreement and I think I may have done something illegal by adding it in ultraarc, and everyone should stop using it with ultraarc.

Hi Razor.

I understand the concept you gave there, but I still have a point I would like to learn:

Taking that example of Max Payne (35gb folder, BD50 target - hence no spliting/merging), what would be the difference (pros & cons) of using 30% or 100%?

Kind regards and thanks once again for your time!

pakrat2k2 19-07-2015 08:50

easiest way of thinking if you use 100 threshold you need twice the space of the game for compression/decompression. Setting threshold to 30 doesn't require twice the game size, completes in much faster time, thus reinstalling from conversion will not take twice as long, no need to swap out more dvd's when installing, the archives are split better & don't require as much merging as happens when you use threshold 100.

IF your burning onto BD50 then as long as the entire game will fit onto 1 media then use 100.

elbubi 19-07-2015 15:57

Thanks for your answer Pakrat.

I do get the benefits from using 30 over 100 when split/merge does take place, what I still don't get is the benefit/drawback (if there is any) from using 100 over 30 when split/merge does not take place.

Cheers!!!

pakrat2k2 19-07-2015 20:00

the drawback from using 100 is that it takes twice the space & the files are split more
that means when installing, that the files have to be re-combined before they can be extracted, which again takes more space & time.

Razor12911 20-07-2015 01:09

Yes, you do benefit when you use 100 percent.
Firstly if there are no splits, compression and decompression time is less, the final size might be better because of solid compression and srep, there are more chances of finding similarities in data when compressing all files at once(100 threshold).

elbubi 20-07-2015 05:41

Thanks Razor, that was the missing part in my head.

From now on I'll stick to the following criteria:
* 30% when split/merge is present (final size bigger than burning media)
* 100% when split/merge is not present (final size smaller than burning media)

Cheers!

UltraArc work for me in w10

Simorq 27-07-2015 08:32

Is there a way that could be used Srep64 in UltraARC.
The Evil Within Complete Edition Srep64 can be made only through the 4DVD
Sorry I did not know English well.

Razor12911 27-07-2015 08:56

Really? I thought srep and srep64 does produce same results, only the time for compression is less for srep64 than srep. Anyways, whatever makes you feel better, replace srep.exe with srep64.exe.
