Given a bin file, how to tell whether it's PAL or NTSC ?

It's a long time since I did this but I think either ISOBUSTER or CDMAGE will take a BIN file and allow you to extract the components. Look at a file called SYSTEM. That is a clear text file which will contain the word NTSC or PAL.

I've not thought too hard about this because I never come from ypur perspective - I know BEFORE I create a BIN file what it is! It MIGHT be possible to use the DOS DEBUG command on the BIN file (which is everything rolled up) and look for the words PAL and NTSC; hopefully one will appear but not both. CDRWin also has a facility for reading sectors. Or you could open the BIN file with WORDPAD and search for the string. Or maybe not - try it.

run a ntsc -pal conv on it
if it says cant find ntsc it is pal
if u think about it u can check it and not have to convert it unless u have to
ie if u want it to be ntsc
run pal to ntsc
if u want it to b pal
run ntsc to pal
conversion program i use will tell u for sure guess all work same way if it cant find it it cant convert it so it tells u

I tried ISOBuster, didn't really know how to use it. But I tried using the NTSCCONV and ran it through the bin file, if it's in NTSC format and I say to convert to NTSC, it leaves the file alone, so it looks like I can tell whether it's NTSC or PAL this way .......... cool !! Thanks !!
