Introduction
ArcGUI is an alternative graphical interface of the Open source project Freearc (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeArc)
Why ArcGUI?
Those interested in Freearc and high compression, have all or almost all, a folder containing programs (external compressors), configuration files and batch files to use as a launcher.
I've seen quite a few cool little compressors that offer just as nice things, but I found myself having trouble creating my own compression methods, my new external compressors.
I thought it would be nice to bring this with a little software, so I started designing ArcGUI.
The program allows:
Data compression
Create / edit compression methods.
Create / edit external compressors.
Create / edit groups of extensions.
NEW in v1.2 Create / load a repack project (2 modes are available, one allows to create a project including all the external compressors, dependences as well as the configuration file containing the information of the external compressors,
the second mode only the original and temporary structure of the game, this last mode is only compatible with an original ArcGUI workspace. The program checks if all files are present in the game folder,
if files are missing or if files are unknown from the project a warning message asking if you want to continue, you can ignore or add unknown files in the archive of the project you desired)
Features:
An error detection system is present as well as a function that gives information about the errors is possible by right-clicking on selected items.
A compression method creation wizard is present, it allows you to simply combine the values present in your workspace. He is still in a state of development.
You can create categories to organize your compression methods as you wish, creating categories will be present when right clicking on the item to be compressed.
An automatic method function is present, which is based on the default values of the different groups of extensions as well as a compression algorithm defined by the user.
NEW in v1.2 You can add your favorite programs as an external plugin so you always have them to click.
Diskspan
The archive split function is made possible thanks to CLS-Diskspan.dll created by Razor12911 (https://fileforums.com/member.php?u=196265).
You can split an entire list of elements into compressed, the program automatically calculates the first volume relative to the size of the last. For example you can have several different sizes of files is divided to a DVD5 format without any difficulty.
A reserved area for the repackers is present, this corresponds to the amount of space of the first volume for the installation setup and the additional files.
If the diskpan value is empty or is zero, diskspan will not be active. Diskspan is not compatible with FreeArc Next.
The size prefixes supported are expressed in: {b, k , m, g, bytes, kb, mb, gb}. if no prefix is found the byte will be used.
Warning, The program uses an edit version of CLS-Diskpan.dll, if another file of the same name is in the workspace it will be automatically overwritten.
Masked methods + Diskspan ?
I performed several compression tests with diskspan and some masked methods, an example:
I put files with extensions that were present in the extension groups in a folder, these groups were present in the compression method, part of content was not present in the extension groups, this was successful. I also tried in full mask, it succeeded. The decompression has succeeded.
The body of the main method is processed after the masks, so the last end of the method (diskspan) is handled without problems.
Tips
If you can add a new external compressor and get the characteristics of another external compressor to take advantage of several presets, for example: pZlib_normal, pZlib_max, you just have to modify the options according to your needs.

Everything works fine, precomp switch for zlib recompression isn't there so it runs through anything with zlib without checking but other than that, it works fine.
Thank you for the feed, I use version of precomp including zlib, I will force the elevation, you use what OS ( Windows 10 ?) Thanks.

My other concern is you called lzma, Freearc. There could be a couple of confusions once you add more methods.

for -m0, you can just add "store" in the combobox for methods, then add lzma, srep+lzma, precomp+srep+lzma so it becomes

then under lzma level, remove store.
I'm not saying you're idea is incorrect, it just makes sense, probably sharing what I would have done.

I'll add the 4x4 exe dict delta options will soon have to "srep:m3f:a1" just set the SREP settings, and for "lzma:a1:mfbt4:d176m:fb128:mc1000:lc8" just set the size of dictionary Lzma with asymetric level...

also if u can add a feature so that the program can automatically read the arc.ini and then add the external compressor in the separate box in the gui then it would be more great

The problem is that if the name of the external compressor is changed, example:
if instead of:

it will be complicated, I'm going based on a fairly complete arc.ini then I will see later for other cases...

I will give the possibility to setup each external filters or compressors, the order of the method is managed by the user,
for now it is under construction, later, one of the best compression detection system will perhaps created.

Well this is what I intend to do, I thought about how to make all this possible and in relation to the rest of the program...

Ive cleaned up all the spam posts that keep asking for this. Anymore posts asking for this before JRD! is ready to post it, will result in some reading time for those involved.

An overview of changes that I made, I had to rework the multilingual system and management of information of the imported files, ability to set a prefix of archive compressors to revised summer, ability to create a method by default, format of increment in the name of archives, extensions, management methods, or compressors from a model (present in the arc.ini file) , sync the files arc.ini are automated to the choice, the importation of methods or compressor settings, both at the same time, same for exports and much of anything else, I work currently on the creation or editing of the files ArcGroups, and a option for the calculation of the number of possible compared to the number present external compressors method... Later
I'd like to request a feature or per say, just a thought that would be nice to implement. It's always hassle to keep external compressor files updated, and keep track of the file version, which is latest and which is not. It'd be nice to have an option displaying a window for installed external compressor components alongwith it's version number and ability to update to newer version just by click away; like maintaining a small database just for external files. Like the image below. I don't know if i explained it correctly. In any case keep up the good work! :)

Eventually this may be complicated because versions are rarely present, on external compressors fifteen only 3 included the version...

Why keep posting smaller updates, post a final version, then any fixes for that final afterwards. IF you want those small updates then PM him for the link, keeps topic cleaner.
It's his program = his choice. No matter what we think.
But anyway, it would be cool if we had at least some translation tables to do translations that you could add in your (final) version later.
I sets up the management of filters and their parameters of the method Wizard,
then will start a multilingual system or everyone can add his language, then a help file.
I understand that some don't understand not to I did so, but I had no comment after a week,
so it doesn't help to post a version that is not completed...
I will posted the version 0.8.3.5 today, I'll added a few entries in the method editor so that it is not empty, thanks.

The "arc.exe" file is needed, place the program in the folder that contains "arc.exe"

I was thinking about how to set up such a thing, I wanted to extend the possibilities of the filter tab, to create a "masked group" and "masked filter" in order to simplify the creation of custom methodes depending on the type of data.

I will set up a multi-tasking system with the ability to set the number of simultaneous tasks to wish.

Thanks Rinaldo, I put the decompression side part for now, I integrated a part "Inno Setup Script Editor" in order to decompressed blocks of data compressed with ArcGUI, a mode of advanced compression where all extensions will be moved into folders for this, any content can be scanned and so is based on the content of the files arcgroups to predict the best method among the present based on extensions and thus accelerated the compression, a module for inno setup is required if you used the mode advanced, it detects the compressors not present as well as the present, is arcgroups indicates the methods using these, when adding external compressor it detected what origin and offers sheets with Visual objects to adjusted easily compressor settings, for now is managed "7-zip, Srep, precomp", in the section, a password strength indicator, memorization of the position of the columns of the listview, and a lot of other things, with the arrival of Freearc Next I hope that will change any of the current engine... Freearc next is gonna be a commercial product, better to go with Zarc, plus it is written in delphi and seems to have better external compression support, once completed

The problem comes from the method, try another method, I believe that reflate does not support blocks over 2GB...

the installer is not pointing to program files.even when pointing it to a different dir it seems to install to the windows dir.
Thanks for this information, I was a little quick to set up the installation script, now if you install in the same location the working folder will be retrieved otherwise it will be the "include" folder in the installation directory.

I can understand that but what I thinking is that when pzlib creates can output in temp folder and srep read it and output in same temp directory it would be great if srep reads the input from that temp directory and output it in another directory specified and then final output where it is specified it would be a great functionality if there is less space on one drive want to compress large data at once bcuz pzlib or reflate can inflate the data from 50 GB to 106 GB and then using srep on it would require 156 GB approx so it would be great if specify some other directory if not enough space is left in that drive

I just figured that when using cls-srep srep temp file for srep is creared where the clssrep.DLL is located and for Pzlib temp file is created where defined so two different locations ☺ yet not a perfect solution but it is working out for me

hi, I was testing out arcgui and the compression is great.
JRD is it possible to implement the unpacker.bat file in the arcgui directory in a way that it would work with conversion designers? like do I need to replace the default arc.ini file in the conversion designers 'include' folder with the one from the arcgui folder? im trying to use Razor12911's installer creator but when I try to install my conversion it tells me the compression method zstd_x64 is an unsupported compression method. im new to this stuff so please don't be too upset with my newbish post. :confused:

You could use the subdivision of the command line data files with the internal FA option ( arc a...MyOptions -w.\ Out\Test.bin -m..MyMethod -dp"C:\MyFolder" "@File1.txt" ), scanning files according to the preset size does not take time, rather it is immediate, reading a few seconds before the archive is created, the name path of the file is written to a text file, after reading and creating the archive can be deleted, this in a continuous cycle based on the created parts.
Personally, I think it's still the best way to split large data.:)

Isdone.dll sometimes returns an error code-12 from Unarc, this and bind to the fact that some compressors are not supported by Unarc.dll

Underlined ones are really hard/impossible to translate into german. Otherwise they sound really annoying and possible no one actually understands them :D (f.e. "Compressor", which the german language has no suitable word for this in case for data compression. 7-zip split is good but it does not work with FreeArc.
Yes, CLS-DiskSpan does not support ArcGroup, which does not matter much.

I have a little change the diskspan.dll of razor so what kind all the files in the same output directory,

On this short video (http://bit.ly/2CS3oWJ) I add a folder to compressed which contains 2 files, one with the extension *.esm, the other with the extension *.mp4, the method used contains an extension group that is bound with a method,
the extension *.mp4 is located in the group "$void" this implies that the mp4 file will receive the srep64 compression method, so no have two files with 2 different compression methods and it works.
I remove Precomp from the Max method in order to shorten the video... If someone has a remark he does not hesitate to share it with me.

Here is the list of changes to the next version:
- Ability to apply the same compression method to all archives from the Edit button.
- Tabs remain visible during compression, but events are disabled.
- A file listing function in the archive is available at the right click, (filename | file weight in bytes).
- A function of detecting the space necessary during the decompression (NeedSpace) has been added, activate the log to be able to access this information.
- The ability to create a decompression folder, this folder will contain everything necessary to unpack the created archives.
- Create setup with Inno Setup, you just need to specify the required values in the script, copy the folder generated by ArcGUI to the module folder and then start compiling from the batch file, you can unpack the created archives.

This is an example for those who want to implement cls-diskspan.dll in their program.
This places the diskspan value before the part of the method that contains the groups.
About cls-diskspan:
The implementation in ArcGUI allows division into multiple DVDs or a custom size.
The first volume size of the next archive is calculated by the size of the last previous volume, which greatly simplifies its use.
If an error occurs during compression, it will retrieve information from the previous archive.
About ArcGUI:
I'm going to post version 1.15.1, it includes an automated compression method function that is based on the default values assigned to extension groups.

Some quick info; For favorite programs in the modules folder, add "module." in the name of the program to launch,
the name of the menu "Modules -> External -> XXX" corresponds to the name of the folder in which your favorite program is located;
for the repack project creation this is in development, used "Restore Game Structure" fonction from main menu to restore the structure after the loading of a project.
I don't know if it's a bug.
I have to PC a laptop with a i7-6700 and a desktop with a i7-9700, on the laptop it works, but on the desktop I have some problems.
I try to compress a directory with AC2 choosing AUTO as profile, but after 3 hours it was stuck at 0,2% and it was not possible to stop it eve with task manager and it was not possible to shutdown the PC, it remains stuck with the screen saying shutting down.
Also the external file scanner remain stuck, but I can switch it off.
The desktop is water cooled and the temperature is 37 C

For some reason, it crashes when you start packing.
After another reboot is now working, but I still cannot pack Assassin's creed 2.

I run the software using Auto as compression method, but it quit saying:

Added management of CLS and internal algorithms in the same place as compression methods, external compressors and extension groups with the ability to categorize them into user-created categories.
The addition of programs to favorites is made from the settings (no need to add the prefix to the target application, with the ability to change the name in the drop-down menu).
Developed dynamic value replacement system, for example when you change the name of a method or a compressor, the modification applies to all data, taking into account the type of value and code of error, the spaces present in the value of the method are preserved as well as the comments (from the detection of the character ";")
The error code of the external compressors is also based on the presence or absence of CLS of the same name, based on the operating mode defined by the user.
Updated External Compressor Dependency Management System and CLS. (This is useful if the user is creating a conversion project from a custom workspace)
The conversion project creation system is not completely finished, it is still necessary to take into account the external compressor / CLS priorities in the case of a personalized workspace.
