Hi guys,

Newbie here and I hope I have posted in the right area.. My question:

I have just bought a new Windows Laptop without a CD/DVD player loaded with Windows 10. ( Having no CD/DVD on new laptops is a backward step, but who am I to say... Oh almighty Internet )

I want to install (legitimate) copies of "Sim City 4", then "Sim City 4 Rush Hour" onto my new laptop. I have been addicted to this game for years.. (there is no solution to this addiction... Sim City 13 just doesn't feed the addiction)

I know you require the "Expansion Pack" CD in a drive once installed to run the program and I am writing to ask if anyone knows how to install the game on my new laptop without a CD Player and run the game without a CD Player?

The shakes have begun and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a CD/DVD emulator: there's Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc) (Lite, for free) but, for simple (non-copy protected) ones, I use Virtual CloneDrive (http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html) (free) instead. On a PC with a CD/DVD drive, create images (ISO's) of the discs, e.g. with ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) and then you can mount those images into the emulator, making the OS see them as if they were actual discs in a CD/DVD drive. If the CD/DVD is copy protected (original games usually are ;)) then use a crack (on GameCopyWorld) to make the game run without the original disc (let alone without a CD/DVD drive).

And some agitprop: with everything getting virtualized, copy protection of physical media is the past.

And you could always go buy an external USB dvdplayer. That way you can install from all your original dvds, anytime you want too.
