Dreamfall Chapters 2xDVD5 CIUV2
Thanks to Yener for script, Razor12911 for modifications

1. Install the game. Update game to latest version, apply NO-CD if necessary.

2. Download attachment, extract to HD, NOT in Gamefolder.

2A. If using GOG version, download that conversion as reg entries for it to V5.1.1.0 ( patch > patch_dreamfall_chapters_2.14.0.21.exe )

2B. Using Other release its updated to 5.2.0.1

3. Run UltraARC, Browse/Select Your installed game, then choose output location.

4. Test the conversion, before burning ISO.

5. Then burn folder contents to DVDs with same folder name.


DVD1-4.37GB
DVD2-3.77GB

Updated BOTH Converions for New Welcome screen, as requested

The inside-installer text shouldn't mention any book or its specific title as it will compress the entire game, IMO. Unless of course one wishes to compress just the update from book 4 to the full package. ;-)

Look again at the update numbers. GOG / Steam BOTH include books 1-5 with those updates installed.

Then yes, no specific book title should be mentioned in the setup text as the conversion is for the entire Dreamfall Chapters.

Pakrat, I think Walton is talking about the 'Welcome' screen text?

This will install Dreamfall Chapters BookFive Redux on your computer.

Since it contains ALL the 'books' there is no need to mention just Five.

So should it be...

This will install Dreamfall Chapters Redux on your computer.

Or should it be ..

This will install Dreamfall Chapters Book 1-5 Redux on your computer.

Not really, Redux is just the title of Book Five. Book One was titled Reborn, Book Two: Rebels, Book Three: Realms, Book Four: Revelations and lastly, Book Five is titled Redux.

The full game title is just Dreamfall Chapters or Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey, Grumpy-san.

Redux is just the title of Book Five.

Thanks Walton, I dont have the game and I didnt know the correct names of each book, but I did roughly know what you were referring too about the Welcome text. ;)

hard choice, I originally had it as just dreamfall chapters when I first did it, but then with each book coming out I couldn't decide if it should end at the last book, or just as it is now.

In general, for conversions of episodic games, the rule of thumb is really simple:

At any given point of time, be the game complete or not yet, a person willing to package it into a custom installer for backup will apply the conversion to the entire game, so it's in general better to just leave game title or add "Complete Edition", "Season #" (if there are more standalone seasons like in TWD's case for example which has two main seasons) or "Game of the Year Edition" if said award was presented, or "Ultimate Edition", basically that sort of stuff for complete packages but these aren't really necessary for single-season episodics at all. The best, cleanest way is to leave the full game title and leave it at that.

some issue identified during installation as per the image attached.

1. Overlap text when extracting file with long name.

2. Percentage number, it seem to have been crop a bit.

3. Wording is not in the center of the small installer box, as seen in the picture it is justified to the left hand side.

4. Is it by default that the left side is red thread with single long line, and right side is the dream-fall chapters. (Is yes, then just ignore this issue)

looking forward for the feedback from others. :D


Apart from issues above, installation finished without error, and game run well. :Thumbs up:

Download NEW version as GOG/Other version have both been updated. Read post #1
for update version numbers, re-adjusted small installer read better.

So this does full books 1-5 and does same sizes DVD for the GOG version as well ??

yes its full book 1-5 the sizes 'may' not quite be identical as gog version isn't quite uptodate as the other release is.

EXE Dreamfall Chapters.exe is in root of game folder. Your guess is good as mine. Its that the GOG version has reg entries to run, like all gog games, they wont run/update without them.

Doesn't really need to be updated, except maybe to latest CIUV2 version.
It will already compress what you have installed, EXE is exactly what you wrote.
