Alright guys, I am proud to announce that the project is finished. The main program and the setup itself is complete, however, I want to hear from you guys, what compression should it use.
Option 1:
Advantages:
It will create archives for you.
It will split archives and make disc splitting.
It will make either zip or cab type of archives.
Disadvantages:
You can't make conversions without people editing your work.
Splits cannot be bigger than 2gb.
Compression is not that good, even rar is better.
Worst compression ratios.
Takes very long to decompress and compress compared to freearc on a slow pc.
Option 2:
Advantages:
You have options of freearc, 7zip and winrar compression.
You can have srep, precomp or even nanozip as external compressors.
It will be able to download files from the internet if any for you.
It will support ultraarc.
It will support conversion creation.
Good compression results.
Disadvantages:
You have to create archives by yourself.
7zip progress is not accurate for files larger than 3gb.
Guys, just choose you best option, and tell me your reason.
This thread will be removed in 5 days.

Myself, I choose option 2, because it is easy to put in ASC compared to option 1 (programming isn't easy)
Personally i prefer option 2
Option 2 for me is the most convenient.

me too, me too, option 2 ;)
@Razor
I've just noticed you asked for 'reasons'.
The disadvantages in Option 1 are far greater than Option 2
The 7zip Progress Bar is not really a disadvantage as you can still use 7zip but with a slight limitation. Plus not many would really use 7zip for compressing in my opinion.
Option 2. because its disadvantages are not high as compared to option 1 and it is more convenient.
Option 2 all the way...
Thanks for this project bro

with all these disadvantages in option 1:
You can't make conversions without people editing your work.
Splits cannot be bigger than 2gb.
Compression is not that good, even rar is better.
Worst compression ratios.
Takes very long to decompress and compress compared to freearc on a slow pc.
The second option The best way...:)

Razor12911

Srep64 and precomp043 are optional, if you want them, you must add them yourself. Thats what asc offers, freedom.

Okay guys, Option two it is. But yesterday, something bad happened while I was programming. I ordered a folder deletion to be done automatically as soon as setup.exe closes but what I didn't know is that I set the wrong directory. I set D:\ instead of C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp and everything in D:\ got deleted, games, softwares, media, my programming softwares and projects are gone. But I managed to backup ASC just in time but IC, UltraARC, and all the other projects I have created are all gone.
Just to show you that I am not kidding, look at the screenshot as I try to recover some of the data using a data recovery software.

Real funny dude, I didn't know what to do when this happen, just imagine 400gb partition which was full and a few seconds later, it is empty.
pakrat2k2
17-06-2015, 07:14
that really sucks, had the same happen but luckily I could recover a great portion of it as long as not data is wriiten to the lost drive ( recover to another HD to preserve lost data on D )
@Razor
punchao and pakrat are right, don't panic is the key and don't write to the drive. Get yourself R-Studio, if you have not written to the drive then R-Studio will recover 100% of the lost data.
I have accidentally formatted a Storage drive before and got back 100% of the data, I have also done this for many others. ;)

I am using windows 10 bro. It is working on that OS. I managed to bypass the net fx 3.5. But it works, by the way, I'm releasing v.0.0.3 beta very soon. I am excited myself.
Razor12911 can you please release it today or can you pm me now. I need it very importantly
well here is the link if you need to get .net installed on windows 10 RTM.it can be a pain in the butt if u have certain security updates installed before installing it.Personally i choose the last one its 107MB a small windows will pop up when it done installing just be patient.

I found mine on my dvd. I bypassed it the same way as Windows 8/8.1
But on Windows 10 it is different.
I don't think it is illegal because you can just let windows download it for you but I am showing a way of doing it offline, for people who like to stay offline.
Mount or insert disc, head over to sources\sxs
There is a cab file named microso...netfx3-ondemand...
Use 7-Zip to extract the archive to a directory.
Run cmd as administrator.
Write
DISM /ONLINE /ENABLE-FEATURE:NETFX3 /ALL /SOURCE:C:\extracted_content /LIMITACCESS
So razor19211 when you are releasing the beta of asc

I don't want to recreate something, I want to make something new, if the UI already exists, I am not creating it
Just saw I forgot to vote : Option 2 of course, it the best :)
Really excited about ASC. If it's not already on your roadmap, it would be cool if you can multi-language support for the installer output :D
Razor12911
07-08-2015, 16:11
Um, With ASC, it is different, You want to add languages, you add them yourself. You don't even have to ask me to add a language then you translate it, simple as that, you want something, you add it yourself, that's what ASC is all about.
option 2... more compression -> less space
