I had success using 5 DVD5 not need to use the 10, I am always surprised with the conversions posted here, almost always modify the shape of the recording, sometimes like that here use less medias to record, already tired of seeing 4 DVD5 and I just recorded 1 and 1 DVD9 DVD5. Thanks for the conversion. Sorry the bad english.

Dark_babe,

Would you be able to tell us how you managed to get this game on to 5xDVD5?

Sorry, I had won that game but it was a version with 23GB when it has not run I researched and saw that the correct version is 43 Gb, ie 10 DVD 5

Hi, thanks for the conversion but I think some user can do better than simple split in 10-20-30 DVD5, expecially for this big game.

For example, in order to reduce the number of DVD, a converter can be try to delete multiplayer files, foreign languages files, re-compress video for gain a lot of GB, use a strong compression, use DVD9. With some of these things I think this game of 45 gb can be fit in 3 or 4 DVD9, a more "human" number of disc instead 10 DVD5

first off DVD9 are not cheap everywhere in the world, trying to delete MP files, extra languages etc some games its possible, but not all. As far as recompress video or stronger compression, not worth the time. I tried with one set of files for a single dvd & using precomp it ran for almost 18HRs one that one set
in the end it only reduced by few hundred MB so wasn't worth the time. Who wants to install a game that takes 3-4 hours to install :eek:

You want DVD9 then take dvd5 lists and split them up so then everything fits on DVD9.

I agree with you. I only wanted to tell that in the last conversion often I view only a splitting in a lot of DVDs. In past, some user researchead the maximum gain of space, compatible with all of these things that you mentioned (conversion time versus space gained, etc). Instead, in these last conversions I only view a split (in this case 45 gb game, 10 DVDs 4,5 gb: it's simple a split).
I thank a lot the users that spent their time FOR FREE to make this conversion...but I think in some case better conversion with a little more work it can be possibile. Unfortunately, I have the willpower but don't have the knwoledges for do the conversion on my own and for the comunity :o

As has been discussed, I tried for several times to improve the conversion, putting in 4 DVD9 and 2 DVD 5 , but without success in compressing the last 2 .cabs was not good enough to make them fit and DVD9. I used this compression on all files.
arc a -ep1 -r -w.\ -msrep+lzma:a1:mfbt4:d256m:fb128:mc1000:lc8 [email protected] -dp"%choice%" .\WNO_1\%arc%
But I do not know how to compress better, is there any command to compress even more? use this command: arc a -ep1 -r -w.\-msrep:L64+lzma:a1:mfbt4:fb128:MC1000:LC8 [email protected] -dp"%choice%" .\WNO_2\%arc% does not extract the installer exits with an error. besides compress slightly.

msrep / msrep64 makes no difference, also 64 does not work on 32 bit machines so no use in specifying it. ONLY better compression is mprecomp+msrep .... BUT the HUGE drawback on that is time & space... it takes forever longer & uses up a lot more HD space that may in the end only make a little smaller archive. Who wants to waste that much time to achieve only a little more compression, also when installing having used mprecomp+msrep installs take hours longer ! Can you imagine taking 3-4 hours to install a game ..... think not. That's the main drawback as endusers don't want to waste that much time getting a game installed. Using 4-5-6-7-8+ DVD5 who cares their cheap & affordable for most.

Well I decided to use but need mprecomp decent arc.ini everyone who tried the error. I've done 3 or 4 arc.ini however unsuccessfully. That is what I have in arc.ini
[External compressor:precomp]
header = 0
packcmd = precomp -slow -t-j {options} -o $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp $$arcdatafile$$.tmp
unpackcmd = precomp -o $$arcdatafile$$.tmp -r $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp

[External compressor:srep]
;options = l%d (minimal match length, default=512)
header = 0
packcmd = srep {options} -a1 -m3f $$arcdatafile$$.tmp $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp
unpackcmd = srep -d -s $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp $$arcdatafile$$.tmp

* the problem is that he always compress to the 10% error in something related to
$$arcpackedfile$$.tmp $$arcdatafile$$.tmp

try this arc.ini ( error because of switches for precomp in your arc.ini
those switches maybe incompatable for the types of files your compressing this time. Every run of precomp will give different switches for the files its compressing at that time. )

[External compressor:srep]
;options = l%d (minimal match length, default=512)
header = 0
packcmd = srep {options} -m3f -l512 -c256 -a4 $$arcdatafile$$.tmp $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp
unpackcmd = srep -d -s $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp $$arcdatafile$$.tmp

[External compressor:precomp]
header = 0
packcmd = precomp -intense0 -c- {options} -o$$arcpackedfile$$.tmp $$arcdatafile$$.tmp
unpackcmd = precomp -o$$arcdatafile$$.tmp -r $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp

do NOT use anything in the compress.bat other plain mprecomp+msrep ....

mprecomp+msrep+lzma:a1:mfbt4:d256m:fb128:mc1000:lc 8

just do one archive it will tell you what switches to add to arc.ini for faster compression of that archive. ( WIll have to do same for other sets as well )

For example of what switches I mean see post below
