If I made a Tutorial for external Compression than only for how to begin and set the settings in IC, like it for v2.2 to work. An Gimp Tutorial I let out, because there a 1000 Gimp Tutorials on Internet. If you change a lot for Extern Compress settings I will wait. But everything works fine in v2.2 (for external Compress) so theres no Reason to change anything.

PS: I don't like bugs too. But a Programmer from Skyrim sad it one Time: "If you want to Patch the Program, no Problem. But there will be bugs on another side of the Program Code! There will always be bugs!!"

Having a problem with installer creator. I created Thief 4xDVD 5 . While installing on the last disc it says (cannot find uninstall/icon.ico) please help

it does work if i put the fisrt disc. but the problem is it doesnt ask me to insert disk 1. it just throws out an error. isnt there any way to put the uninstall file on the last disc.

This seems to be Bug in Version 2.3.2 when you use Extern Compression. I've tried my Dawn of War II Collection with 2.3.2 and got the same bug. Made with v2.3.1 again the bug was gone. I have not try out v. 2.3.3 till now. With Internal Compression you will have no Problems, but the Game (Thief 4) won't fit on 4 DVD 5.

It's not a bug, you have to put your Icon.ico on all DVDs.

1 - Media External is the part where you add in external archives created using compression softwares like FreeArc, 7zip, WinRAR etc, To add in the files there, you can use in.
like this :
Method : The Archive format used, (arc,7z,rar)
Source : Name of the Compressed Archive (setup.bin. setup.cab..)
Example syntax = {src}\Setup-1.bin | The src represents the source where the installer exe file resides and the archives must be there also.
Output : The out put folder, It's normally {app}\ If you want to extract the archive inside a specific game folder then use {app}\foldername\
And the res, Just make sure you select the precomp versions right, and for compression you can use this tool here, it's based on arc and the best with a gui to set commands and options : Here (http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=95288)

2. Windows Operating System Version Numbers.

Windows 8.1 6.3
Windows 8 6.2
Windows 7 6.1
Windows Vista 6.0
Windows XP 64 5.2
Windows XP 5.1
Windows 2000 5.0

3. About the reg files, you might have to check them at Here (http://www.regfiles.net/) in case if you don't know it, or else you can check on the windows registry manually and export the required keys to a reg files and add the values accordingly to the installer. :)

May be possible, Try putting the bat file into a SFX using winrar, 7z or your preferred archive method and try launching it during the installation process.
Like Hide it in the Redist or components Sessions or try around were you can put it and give that a run.
Or you could also plan to execute the exe file which will then run the .bat file ( I assume, you already know how to do that. )

Needs no Tutorial. Just Install all Games in one Folder. Then, it's the best you Compress the Games External. For help you can Edit Converter.ini and Data.ini from this (http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=95762) or this (http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=95805) Collections.

Then go to Resources\Components and set Game Names and Game Sizes the rest is normal settings for external Compression.

May be due to the name problems, might need to add as unpack.exe in name also. and make sure that it is getting launched after the installation's or simple try to put that in executables or in were you add in the redist files.

turns out that installer creator requires graphics like crazy, I now use intel onboard graphics and installer creator is not working properly but will try updating it anyways.

I did what you said and is working now!!! :D I just think that this you told me should be included in the tutorial for noobs like me, also a little of explanation on the parameters, cuz I use task 1, and the component on 1 and nothing on the folder was compressed, I remove those and worked, so, if someone told us what for are those parameters would be nice.

Think on that the Tutorial is made v.2.2 of Creator, some Inputs have changed in upper versions (like the Tab for Internal Compression) but it's not hard to figured out were they are. The rest of Tutorial is in 90% the same.

Hmm, this version 2.8 is really buggy. Just be patient and wait, I am still gathering programming tools so that I can be able to fix this bug.. ask thinkbigearnbig for Installer Creator v2.7.

Or just download freearc and extract those data#.bin files.

If i want to create a complete edition repack with game a, game b and game c. It should be possible to install all (a+b+c) together or only one(b or a or c), or two (a and b for example. of the games. I did understand it can be realized with one archive per game, but my question is:

How to create shortcuts tht only will be created if game a, b or c is installed. There is no need for shortcut to game a, if only b and c is installed.

Is there any solution?

This is no Problem. All you need is to set the Correct Imput to Executable, Components and Media[External] Tab. If you Install now Game B from your Collection there will be no Shortcut for Game A or C.

The version IC 2.9.0.5 have 2 bugs,the first the slidebackground no working in full screen,the second bug is when the game are installed,the window autorun no working the button play click for ready to play,check this please on the new version 3.0 ; fix this two problems good friend .... ;)

The play button will be disabled if the exe it was suppose to run is not found.
I tested the slides and they work, just upload your project for me to check what's really going on.

Really not bad, but you need a bit more Practice in Designing.

For Example on your Small Installer, Use the Pic you've choose for Text Background as Main Background. Use a Colored Transparent Picture for Text Background for make the Text better to see.

Don't use Pics double (!) if you use Autorun, Installer and SmallInstaller.
If you don't use .png Pics hide the Exit Button, it's still there.
Try External Compression, mostly better Results!
Use minimum System Req. for Launch Conditions.
Don't forget the Redists...
Add Multilanguages if you want to Upload your file...

Folder to unpack the files during setup-routine [e.g. {app}] See "Constants-Page" for more folders.

Freearc:
External Compressor to create .arc files. Better compression than internal.

Caution confusion:

When specifying the Keys within the program must be made only a \ (backslash).
In an exported. Reg file in Windows but always \ \ can be used.
To make things easier to read, the \ \ has been changed to \. But under the hood IC works with \ \

i'm currently trying to do a "Dragon Age Collection" (DA:0 +DA2+ DAI) conversion and i'm using IC.
Here is the issue: under executables i can set DA:O and DA2 shortcuts setting them as PLAY and PLAY2, but what about DAI? it doesn't show PLAY3...
how can i let him detect that it's "PLAY" for my third component?

U don't need to rename buttons. just select your language for install and it does it itself.
If u select Spanish for installer, it puts automatically Instalar instead install.
Go to General Information -> Languages and select Spanish (or your other languages u like).

Your attached image looks invalid, it's not opening in my pc. Second thing, you can move the text area of button or textbox by mouse itself. The software will do the rest.

I do not know if it was possible to understand? what you like and the progress bar does not stay on top of the image, so if it is possible to move to the left or right would have a better view of the imagens slideshown.

It turns out that whenever I do this by changing position or place, just going on an error in the compilation.

What I mean is, you need to rename the files you don't use.. for example..

Copy the Indonesian.isl file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Installer Creator\include\Languages and paste it there.

Delete one of the file language you don't use. Lets delete Polish.isl.. Now rename Indonesian.isl to Polish.isl.

Now when using Installer Creator, select Polish language in the interface, so that your file will be actually processing with Indonesian language.

Hope this helps.

and the output had a compressed file of 2 GB which is named as Data.bin and a Records.ini file.

Now how can i use Installer Creator v3.1 to make Setup.exe which extracts Data.bin and after all this i need to make an ISO image of this Repack.

Before compressing, you need to set compression options, which you did obviously, but according to the tutorial, before compression you need to first create a setup file using Installer Creator and paste it in a folder (I recommend to paste it inside the setup_files folder which is located next to UltraArc.exe, then in UltraArc you need to set first volume folder to that folder where you pasted the setup.exe (use relative pathname), then you need to set compression options (don't set output and source folders yet). Click on export config and overwrite the existing UltraArc.ini file, now set source and output directory and the compress the game.
