Description

This program compresses or packs freearc archives with external compressors like precomp and srep and other external compressors. As we all know that freearc cannot pack these archives unless if you tweak out the arc.ini inside it which leads to cumbersome work.

still some errors, selected base folder with compress.exe

it selected 1280 files & put everything in 1 folder. But that main folder has 952 Files, 246 Folders, so where its coming up 1280 files instead of 952 files :confused:

that compressor is amazing!!

8.95 GB game, compressed entirely down to 4.34GB
used -msrep+lzma:a1:mfbt4:d158m:fb273:mc1000:lc8.

strange, using same method with files from another conversion ( compress.bat etc ) cant achieve same results, and any of the CIU cannot read the output file, Unknown compression method error, even with arc.ini included in setup.cab.

I do'nt know how to set "Compression Mem" & "Decompression Mem" ?
My computer have 4G Ram DDR3 and CPU Q9400 (4 threads). So, how can i set up it ?

error - i cant create archive with password protected. it immediately say process completed

idea only for 1.2.x - i know you cannot say the process completed successfully or failed. but you can manipulate like this. if the output file is exist then process completed successfully else process completed with errors

That is really strange, compressor.exe a virus. False-positive. Bitdefender, avast!, smadav, avg and windows defender don't see this as a virus. That exe was only on my pc before uploaded here since it was created from my pc.

False Alarm! Disable AV or set the file to the exceptions list of your AV!
Maby this comes from a .dll file. Happens sometimes, but all files are clean!:rolleyes:

could you please explain where to put this parameters for precomp?
it suggests to use the following parameters with precomp:

those paramaters for precomp (-z139,96 -d0)
go into your arc.ini file so it will speed up the compression time.
for the next time it gets run.

The stronger the Compression Method the better, IF the Gamefiles are good to Compress.

Precomp Version you have to define for Unpacking, if you use a precomp Compression. It have always to be same Version for pack and unpack (If you pack with v.42 and define v.38 to unpack, it won't work!)

This Compressor can make .bin files, simply set Output to 'Data.bin'.

Decompression memory and compression memory is your RAM, best use the half of it!

There is no 'best Compression'

Some Game Files are not to Compressed (Crysis Series)
Some other let you do what you want (Hitman Absolution)

You have to find out for yourself, or ask other what work....

You need to do the tests, it is not simple at first glance

1) easy to use installer isDone v.06
2) use Srep + FreeArc for comprimer (no precomp 0.42 etc.)
3) learn how to Bat function to compress the game folder

better read the tutorial before you post questions already present in it :)

Hi, I have some questions ...
So, if you use the tool "Compressor v1.2.0.7" with setting Precomp 0.43... should not work with the decompression BlackBox v2?
I have 16 GB of ram ... okay if I set to 4096 for the compression and decompression for 2048?
Would be faster compression?
In CPU Threads what is the best setting? (I have an i7-4770K)

Um, yes and no, this program is or was not properly configured. The memory compression being high or low doesn't apply to srep nor precomo but to known compression methods like rep and lama. I think it only adjusts that. But if you want to use all of your memory try using lzma64 and srep64 instead of the normal one.

Razor, thanks for sharing the new version of the compressor for testing. Here's a short feedback:
- Missing the minimize button
- Transparency of the application makes it not very clear
- selecting compression method by clicking on the small button is not the most convenient way - add the ability to select the compression method by pressing the arrow keys up / down or better yet, change it to the drop-down list of choices
- When you select the compression method PRECOMP + SREP + LZMA (also x64) and uncheck PRECOMP jpeg compression application stops responding:

I also noticed a serious error that prevents unpacking the compressed archives using PRECOMP + SREP + LZMA. When you attempt to unpack this archive crashes error: ISDone.dll, An error occurred while unpacking: Unable to write data to disk! Unarc.dll returned an error code: -11 ERROR: corrupted data archive (decompression fails). I checked out the current version of the Glass Black Box and your Installer Creator 2.8.0. I checked it again on the PC and laptop - every time the same error -11 or -1. When you compressed archive using only SREP + LZMA method, unpacking runs without any errors.

Compressor v1.2 doesn't support that just yet. But I am working on an update for it, only thing remaining to fix in the upcoming version is precomp and srep problems otherwise, it is finished.

Tell me some good method to compress game, M not familiar with method.
I want to compress my games to Medium.

For example Hitman Absolution size 24.3 gb to 11 gb (Steam Version)
When i downloaded this game from steam, it just downloaded only 11 gb and final size was 24.3 gig.
So i think this tool can easily compress this game to 11 gb.
Pls tell me some best method. I don't want to create damaged or faulty archive files. :D

One of the Best Methods to Compress a Game external is -msrep+lzma:a1:mfbt4:d158m:fb273:mc1000:lc8

For Hitman Absolution, using this Tool, Split up the Install Folder to more Folders.
Then Compress them, Put them together to create DVD 5 or DVD9 Output, Define them with any Designer or your own script.

PS: Hitman Absolution is also good to Compress with Internal Compression (lzma2/Ultra64) but the Install Time is much longer than srep compression.

But think on, not every Game can be Compressed to smaller Output than the Game Itself. Crysis Series or Prototype 1,2 isn't good too Compress. Use here -m0 or other fast Compression Methods.

I have been using v1.2.0 of your compressor with an edited version of the Black Box Script By Kurutucu V1.8. The compressed files have been working very well but I would like to start using your compressor v2. Your compressor has been creating bin files with no issue but they are not compatible with the compiled exe. I have put this down to arc.ini and inno setup script needing amendments.

The arc.ini used in inno setup was:

I used the Compressor with the "MSC, Precomp and SREP with LZMA compression" Setting.

But I can´t extract the created Archive.
I try to unpack the Archive via Command-Line Batch File and this Command-Line:

arc.exe x -w.\ -dpunpacked\ "D:\oRI___.arc"

I get the Error Message as seen in the attached Picture.

Any Inno Setup Installer which supports UltraARC supports Compressor too.
or make your own batch file for unpacking archives

True but with precomp there is nothing you can do, it doesn't use that much memory, it uses cpu but then again, its restricted from using all cores because its a x86 app, meaning it uses only one core. About SSD, speed MAY be slightly increased. Wanna speed up compression, remove precomp from method then enable 64-bit compression.

@ Razor12911 and hydefromt70s to speed up conversions is to have hard drives in raid some raid ,server sata 3 drives like WD Red drives that would improve conversion where hards drives are used instead off CPU(WD RAPTOR drives in raid if u have spare cash laying around these drives can take a beating and they can go on forever).dont use SSD drives for conversion as it decreases the life span off the drive or drives drastically.personally i will not use my ssd drives for conversions.prefer rather using CPU dependent apps for conversions

Shame that this Precomp is left behind with the times it would take something new..:rolleyes:..the time has its importance, especially in a large compression, a slow compression can become unnerving ..:D

Thanks for the amazing tool.
I compressed the game data and made 6 bins.
When I installed I got unarc.dll error code -1 at nearly 30% completion. I ran it again, then I received the same error at 80%. I made archives with proper care.
Where is the problem, Razor12911?

For a folder size more than 2.2 gb it returns srep.exe has stopped working error after some time, same error with precomp.exe when using precomp for compression.
I wonder how CorePack people compress full game folder (20 gigs or more) into a single archive data.cpa/data.cpack/apusss.cpa
