Star Trek DVD9 -> DVD5 Converter

I will use CIMetro for small + average games.

1. Install the game

2. Download attachment, extract completely(wherever you want) and launch converter.exe.

3. Select the drive, where the TEMP folder should be, choose path where you installed the game and click on "Convert"
-> You can enable Create Iso function, if you have ImgBurn installed.

4. Burn temp folder or burn the ISO file

DVD = 4.28 GB

FINISHED!!!:D:D:D

Time: 1:30 h

More to copy the folder "Cache.Windows" normally I think something is missing in compression.

Just editing the required file and setting compression to -m0 would not work.
I don't have it (nor do I want it) but if the installed game is bigger than 4.5 GB all you would get with -m0 is 1 big .cab file with size for DVD9 installation.

You would need to go through game files and edit Data1.lst (Located inside Arc.cab archive) file accordingly. In that file, you would need to leave only files which would (with their sizes combined) be enough to make one DVD5 disk.

After that you would need to make Data2.lst and list all the remaining files (the ones you cut from Data1.lst)

After that you would need to edit CompressFiles.ini (Located inside Converter1.cab archive) and edit it to look something like this.

Name=Data1.cab
DVDFolder=StarTrek
Compression=-m0
List=Data1.lst
[File2]
Name=Data2.cab
DVDFolder=StarTrek
Compression=-m0
List=Data2.lst

However, you can't do this because you need to edit the actual Setup.exe script before it was compiled.

This is just a theory as I haven't encountered Yener's source for CI Metro.

All you can do is to make those two lists, upload them and ask if Yener would be kind enough to use those lists and just recompile the script (I think that should take about 5 minutes of his time).

Okay... It can be done by removing these lines from Data1.lst and placing those same lines within Data2.lst (Including the changes from my previous post).

B.Misc.cache = 1,472 MB
F.Misc.cache = 1,158 MB

But you still need Yener to edit the script before recompiling the Setup.exe.

doesnt copy all english textfiles(B.Texture_en.cache, B.Texture_en.toc, H.Texture_en.cache, H.Texture_en.toc) for me and unistaller is messed up - you cant decline option to keep saves and uninstaller stuck on deleting steam_api.dll for me (Win7x64)

Yup, I have the same problem with the text, I don't have problem to play in english, but my nephew can't. :(

A solution for me was, use the convertion to fit the game in one dvd, then manually copy the files:

in the folder "Cache.Windows"

I made two installations, one from the convertion and the other from the game that i downloaded, and then i compared both "Cache.Windows" folders to know the files i need.

its because his installer is for english/german version of the game, and as such his file list ( data1.lst ) only listed german version of the files. missed some of the english files, and doesnt have any of the other language files listed at all.

you can 'fix' it, but opening up arc.cab, editing Data1.lst to reflect the language version of game you have, then reinsert the Data1.lst back into arc.cab, run the converter which should then work for your language specific version of the game ??

My game is english and the error still.

I did everything to put in 2 more DVD5 setup not think second DVD.

Convert all did OK now, more to uninstall never ends.

I don't know why yener don't want to fix this.

- If you make an ENGLISH + GERMAN ONLY conversion.... I think you should at least clarify that in the thread name. Or edit the first post an note it somewhere.

- The installer do have some important errors:

- If you choose that you don't want to keep the saves, it does an infinite
loop until you say it to keep it.

- The Uninstall process freezes nearly at the end.

If I sound rude or something, it's because my lack of english vocabulary. Sorry.
