View Full Version : About Video Functionality in Conversion
*coughs coughs*
So, gentlemen.
I heard that people including me had troubles with videos in conversions especially with yener's CI.
The solution is not converter or formatting anything, it's codecs. Thanks to mikey's suggestion i decided to re-install codecs and now videos are working without problem. If you have troubles with them, i suggest you to install K-Lite Codec Mega Pack. I'm giving the link of their website, it's scam-free BTW.

If you're 64Bit user, also install 64 version for better performance:

To download codec pack, click links below of 'Location' title.

if thats the case, then there is something wrong with xvidinstall in script.
possible, the solution for now is installing additional codecs. I tested with older versions such as Borderlands 2 conversion of mine, and it's not working either, so yes something is wrong with script. Let's hope he fixes it in CIU

nothing wrong as far as I can see.... you recently reinstalled OS, & never reinstalled your codec pack... Every conversion Ive tried plays video file just fine, BUT I have codec pack installed. Had same issue when I installed W8X64, no codecs installed, videos wouldnt play, until i installed the pack.

Cool, Nice to see it wasn't something I was doing wrong.
Will I have to install the codecs on every computer I use - or just the one I use the C.I on?
IE: I have 2 PC's at home, the one I use to compile the games, and the other one is where I Install/Store the games.
Will the codecs be needed on Just the one I use to compile, or just the one that runs the installers, Or both?
If no one knows, I will just test.
-EDIT-
The codecs are needed on the machine that the game is being installed on - as long as that machine has the codecs it will show the movie.

Yes and no. Actually codecs were installed. But not 'mega pack', it was standart version of K-Lite codec pack. Normally you shouldn't need codecs to watch videos because they were integrated to CI, it seems there's an issue with it.

You dont need codecs to compile AFAIK, you need codecs when you install the game/watch the video. So, install the codec pack on the PC which you'll install games.

The ultimate solution about every " InnoSetup based installer " is using a new DLL library named : Inno Media Player
It is completely standalone & dont need any codecs...
this is the list of DirectShow formats (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd407173%28v=vs.85%29.aspx) it supports.
It only needs DirectX 9 to be installed...
see the yener90's Inno Project Source Codes topic for more information.
goodluck !:D

but i wonder why is this happening because yener made the ci to detect whether codecs are installed or not, if are installed then ci mustn't install them automatically (remember: codecs are built in ci)and if are not, the ci automatically installs them. Search for line xvidinstall or iscodecsinstall in installerscript for verification.
