The game has some FPS dropdowns? I mean, It's working OK, but still, not as perfect as other games like "Devil may Cry" or "Grand Turismo 3".
It's like.. Slower, or at least not as smooth.
Or is it just me?

This, with the music, is beginiing to point to laser calibration problems. See ####://www.megagames.com for a tutoril on how to calibrate the laser. Answer offered without liability!

So you say it's working flawlessly perfectly for you? runs like Devil may Cry?

Gunblade, have a look at laser calibration. Whatever answer you are given results in further academic questions. Something is wrong and we need to get to the bottom of it. I haven't got those games and when I do get GTA3, it will be the original DVD (PAL to play on my OrigaChip JAP PS2!). You'll get answers as broad as they are loing.

But one thing is clear - you've experienced a hardware incident and you are now reporting a string of sysmptoms that may be due to bas rips or laser calibration or mis-performance due to the cause of the burning smell. Current suspect is laser calibration. Get on with it please and then we can move to other possible causes. Better still, take the thing into a PS2 repair centre and see what they say.

Well, I'm not going to calibrate the laser myself anyway, so I want to know if this is my problem or a game problem, because this is the ONLY game doing this problem to me. Other games play as smooth as silk, and I really wanna know if this game has a reason for being that low on FPS.

Well, you've reported a string of problems with a string of games in a string of posts.

Putting those reports together at a distance of more than 3,000 miles lhas led to a suggestion that might help you. You've made many misconceptions to date and laser calibration can be symptomised by any or all of the problems you've described so far.

Of course there are other reasons why THIS game could be giving problems. You've not explained whether or not it is a backup or an original. If it's an original and it's on DVD (which it is) then this is a symptom of laser calibration or a badly pressed DVD; if it's a CD rip, then it could be a rip where the movies are downsampled to the point of distortion; or it could be crap media with poor readability or produced on a crap burner .....

Short of your sending me or Dal the media in question you should seriously consider the advice on offer or go away.

As I said, I will not do a laser calibration. This is really out of the question, since I'm not professional enough to do this kind of extreamly delicate work.
Funny enough, I don't get any distortion sounds during this game.
I was talking about the Frames per second. Why is this game playing kind of slowly some of the times, and not as perfect as any other games with even better graphics.
My version is a CD rip anyway.

Then perhaps you didn't read the latter part of my last reply. If it's a rip, then it could be that the movies have been downsampled to the the extent of causing distortion.

If it sometimes plays fine and sometimes not then take a look at laser calibration. If you can't do it then perhaps your #####r can.

Well, I wasn't really talking about the ingame movies, I'm talking about the game itself.
The game itself is not as... fast and smooth as other PS2 games.
I was curious if this is something known about GTA3, or is it really smooth and silky for everyone else.
