FarCry-v1.40 (5xcds to 1xDVD5) *INNO SETUP*
First off this conversion was created using peterf1999 The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings inno setup script so i want to thank him for it.
1) Install Farcry, then Install Updates up to v1.4
Add cracks where needed
2) Extract 'FarCry-1.40.TdM_INNO.7z' contents to
somewhere It will make it's own folder when extracted
But Do not extract into the game folder
and then edit iss script:
from: #define SourcePath "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\"
to: #define SourcePath 'yourgameinstallationpath\'
3) Copy from your FarCry cd-1 to 'FarCry-v1.40.TdM_INNO\Compiled\FarCry' folder:
DirectX9 folder (Rename it to DirectX)
vcredist_x86.exe file
A note about directx as the game farcry is and older game it comes with dx9 u
might have problems trying to install on new windows so just copy a directx
folder from another game dvd as i did for my windows 7 64 bit sp1 and all
still be ok
4) Launch compile.bat & wait...
5) Burn or mount ISOs in 'compiled' folder

cool. But can't you just copy all the cd's contents into one folder & then burn to a dvd5 that way? Like what's posted here (http://www.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_far_cry.shtml#Far%20Cry%20CD-2-DVD%20CONVERSION)?

sure you can but that uses a bland installer ( GCW link ) why not use one that has some visuals to it :)

cool. But can't you just copy all the cd's contents into one folder & then burn to a dvd5 that way? Like what's posted here? you can but sometimes cd 1 becomes a bitch to copy i had to go thru it like 10 times before i could make an image or copy all the files plus this is for updated to v 1.4
an also as pakrat said i like visuals better lol
Help! .. the conversion did as instructed but when it finishes I have an ISO file (4.43 gb) and files (Setup-2a.bin, Setup-2b.bin, Setup-3a.bin) uncompressed ... when I try the installation files requested: Setup-2a ....
Any idea what could be wrong???
Another thing, the background image that appears not in Far Cry 1, belongs to Far Cry 2. :(:(:(:(

dont change the compression level. it fit one dvd.
if not try lzma2/max or lzma2/ultra.
i guess your problem is asking dvd 2. triet to insert it?

I did not change anything, just follow the instructions. Yes, asked for the second DVD. proves to change the type of compression, Thanks!:D
I know this is old stuff but I'd like to ask a few questions!
1) I have Far Cry on a DVD and it does not have "vcredist_x86.exe" (I cannot say if its in one of the Data cab or Game cab files) so I was wondering what version should I download and place in the compile folder?
2) I did everything exactly as you prescribed and all went fine. I installed it on a fresh install of windows 7 x86. I selected all the options from the installer i.e. Far Cry installation, Direct X 9.0c and vcredist_x86.exe (I downloaded one that was digitally signed by Microsoft dated 20, Feb 2011)
However when I launch the Far Cry game from the desktop shortcut it told me that the "msvcp71.dll" was missing and needed to be installed (Apparently in the windows system 32 folder)
Anyway I found the file via Google search and placed it in the system 32 folder, and it now works excellent.
Now my 3rd question is how do I add this "msvcp71.dll" file to the compile?
And if when done can it be installed in the system 32 folder on an x86 system?
And also be installed in an x 64 bit system "C:\Windows\SysWOW64"?
Can you please help me to add the codes to the Far Cry .iss file. Now I'm not too code writing savvy so the most details I can get in the simplest way will be really appreciated very much.
Thank you in advance.

this conversion i did on a 64 bit system windows 7 it has been awhile
as i stated i took original vcredist_x86.exe from the game cd itself as it is an older game
and direct x 9c i grabbed from another game the pc i used for this stuff is actually in a box packed away for a bit as i am not using it atm as i am testing other pc hardware an such
but the date on vcrest_86 from the game cd is Monday, May 16, 2011, 8:00:00 PM if that helps any if u actually want the file let me know
Thank you, but I really won't need the vcredist_x86.exe file because the one I used worked for windows 7.
Yes I did also added the Direct X June 2010 version which I extracted and placed in the folder as you prescribed and it worked.
But my main issue is the missing "msvcp71.dll" !!! Thats my only problem.
I'm also compiling it on a windows 7 64 bit.

i also compiled an did everything have posted on a 64 bit windows 7
let me see if i can dig out my old files from the other pc as i have all original and everything i used for all my conversions but it won't be till this weekend as i got to work at the shop all this week.
Thanks very much for your patience. Please take your time, when you have it sorted and the codes are just right to install the "msvcp71.dll" on to both x 86 and 64 bit system then I'll re-compile Far Cry again. I'll be around time and time again 'til you have it posted.

the issue is not the conversion itself, but your install of windows 7.
There are tons of posts all over the net, regarding software complaining about that missing dll. Its C++, earlier versions that are NOT installed by default, namely 2005, 2008, 2010 versions BOTH x86 & x64 need to be installed to 'fix' that missing dll issue.
Additionally you need to install all windows updates, after installing those C++ version, as there are SP that need to be updated after installing them. msvcp71.dll & msvcr71.dll, both are installed in my clean install of W7X64 after installing those versions from MS.
the 2003 C++ version would have been installed by windows update KB932298( hotfix ) directly available here.

2005 C++ version + links to all other versions ( at bottom of page X86/X640

the biggest is the net framework. Windows 7 only wants to install netframework 4 client, but to make sure everything is correct you need earlier versions too + updates for various fixes from those releases.
Thank you guys. I knew I was missing something, and it was the Microsoft updates which did solve the problem.
Alright now I can now go and burn my DVD using your compile for Far Cry which is just awesome with the graphics and sound while installing the game. Thank you.
