View Full Version : Rayman M - nocd patch not working
I have an old pc game called rayman M. There is a nocd patch out there made by Scream but it says "wrong filesize" when I execute it (different game ver?)
note: in the attachment, the game executable and that patch by scream.
No protection found using ProtID (simple cd check?).

Compared to the main executable from the original release, this seems to have a fix for an erroneous error message: if DirectX 8 isn't initialized (?), the original suggests running the installer of Rayman M, while this fixed version says DX8 instead. There are some other small changes - a few strings missing - but I have no idea about the reason for those.
I'm attaching a no-CD patch that does the very same changes (only at different actual offsets) in the fixed executable as the original no-CD patch did on the original executable. Please, report your results back. :)
[...] Weird... I just noticed that this executable is dated 2001-11-15 while that in the original release is dated 2001-11-20. This means your executable is not a fix, rather a pre-release or something?!
it doesn't work. it keeps asking for cdrom. I tried to copy all the files from the cdroms to the installation directory too. A window pops up with 2 buttons: retry and abort (and nothing else).
note: I included "RaymanMwithFIX.rar" (the fixed exe using the fixed patch, and 2 dlls from game directory. If you execute it, it should reproduce the problem).
In a pc where the game is not installed, it says Dx8 not initialized, please run the dx8 setup, and an OK button. If you push it, it quits.

This No-CD exe is REALLY NEVER DETECTING CD EVEN INSERTED TO THE DRIVE, so it says "No CD", ha!.
For bypassing the CD check for CD2, need other devise.
Here's Mini-CD image for mounting with Alcohol120% or other virtual drive soft, so that you don't really need GAME CD2 if you mount this image.

As I tried patched exe in Windows 7 SP1 64bit OS, it WORKED !!
So, I dare to say the patch WILL WORK in Windows XP "SP1" but not in SP2 nor SP3 32bit.
