thanks...
"all files folders" means "all files and folders" or just all folders in instalation directory?

no it means all files & folders in root of gamefolder.
the full game is ~4.6GB so compressing entire game into 1 cabfile will make it fit onto 1xdvd5.

Is there an alternative to FreeArc? Three different browsers I've used, IE, Firefox and Google Chrome restrict access to their site and once when I was able to download, Norton considered it a threat and deleted it. WinRar, WinZip, WinAce, 7Zip? Will any of these work? If so how and would it be able to work in other game backup situations?

none of those browsers restrict access to freearc's site! YOUR biggest issue is Norton, uninstall that bloated piece of crap, and install a free AV, avast, or avg... it will work just fine protecting yor pc, without any restrictions like norton.
you can use winrar, winzip, 7zip but you dont get the same compression depth like you do with freearc.

Mr Rat,
I did not ask for your or anybody else's opinion on Norton, just whether something other than FreeArc would work. Thank you for your response, but please keep your "views" to yourself!

its up to you what you use, i was pointing out your issue with being able to download freearc. its your AV program thats blocking it. you can use a number of other softwares but they are nothing like freearc. ( autoplay media studio, cd menu creator .. lots of others ) but your own your own to learn how to use them.

LOL, thats a classic!
Actually bud, its not a 'view' as you call it, what pakrat said is 'fact'. Norton is a piece of bloated crap, and it is the thing that is blocking those browsers from accessing the Freearc site, again that is not my 'view' its a fact.
ROFL.
shhhh ......dont let Tippy or Joe see this one, they gonna have a field day on the opinion of of Nortons. Geez, Luciel may even make an appearance!!

http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge/results.php . The last time Norton software was good was a decade ago, excellent: two decades ago.

Wow this one is quite the classic, all I have to say is, signature.
EDIT: Actually I do have more to say, it is amazing how companies like symantec can take advantage of fearmongering clients in to buying their products which are nothing more than bloatware, expensive bloatware at that when a simple free edition of many of the known AVs, be it AVG, aVast, etc will do a much better job, will barely use your pc´s resources and won´t block fake threats.
I´m not giving you my oppinion, I´m giving you a fact, I´ve spent a year and a half of my life working for CA (Computer Associates) and I know to how all of these companies work their marketing departments, it´s disgracefull and you sir, you´re just an unlucky victim. Do yourself a favour and try a free edition of one of many popular avs, and if you want to support them, end up buying the full edition.
