Dead Island DVD9 -> DVD5 Converter

1. Install the game, download attachment, extract it and launch converter.exe.

2. Select the drive, where the TEMP folder should be and click on "Convert"
-> You can enable Create Iso function

3. Burn temp folder or burn the ISO file


FINISHED!!!:D:D:D

I have a question, if i delete the "redist" folder, wich content directx, wmf and vcredist folders, the installation will be complete anyway?
I need to do this operation for fit this game with another one in a dvd5, and doesn't fit for 200 mb.

I think you have to delete some text on Setup.ini file ;)

Works fine here, Win7 x64, italian language.
My final iso is about 2,33Gb

Just a note:
I used the "make iso" option and it created a worked iso but without autorun.inf and an icon file
so when you mount/insert the iso/dvd, autoplay doesn't ask you to run setup.exe.
I added these two files and the iso is now perfect! ;)

To often I complain about useless thankyou posts but this post by 'Onizuka87k' is an excellent example of a 'good useful post'.

The first bit contains help/advice for another member.
In the middle there is a Thankyou also mentioning the OS and the language.
And the last part includes a nice little fix for others.

Well done 'Onizuka87k' excellent post, I just wish all posts were like this one ;)

I've tested the conversion with the game plus Bloodbath Arena DLC In Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Portuguese-BR.

Yener's installer works flawlessly, and the final size (Full game + DLC) is ~2,52Gb

definately works much better then 4.6GB for peter's +DLC, amazed its only 2.5GB for it.

tested as well under W7X64 worked perfectly.

But as I said in the another thread (http://fileforums.com/showpost.php?p=400062&postcount=32), it's possible to use Peter's custom installer AND fit the game and DLC in a single DVD. Take a look:


Yener's conversion:

Compress almost all files in Data1.cab (Actually an .ARC file), with -mx -ld800m settings
The only "uncompressed" files are four video files inside Data2.cab (Which is a ARC file with no compression)
Full game + DLC: ~2,5Gb


Peterf's normal conversion:

Puts all the "*.rpack" files as external (In "data" folder as explained in the conversion)
Compress the remaining ones with -mx -ld800m settings
Full game + DLC: ~4,6Gb (Can't fit in a single DVD5)


Peterf's "Alternative" conversion (As I've proposed) (http://fileforums.com/showpost.php?p=400062&postcount=32)

Puts one, and JUST ONE "*.rpack" file as external (In "data" folder as explained in the conversion)

Could be the smallest one, which has 1Kb; It should work even if you put the biggest one.
Even "dummy" files will work, but why bother when you can move just one?

Compress the remaining ones with -mx -ld800m settings
Full game + DLC: Expected to be almost the same as Yener's final size.

But that's the idea.
As I said before, Yener's compression archieves a smaller size because it compress all the files, including the ".rpack" files which are NOT compressed in Peterf's original conversion.

Fortunately, in peterf's installer, the install order is:
- first moves anything inside the "data" folder (Regardless how many files are there),
- then uncompress the .ARC file.
So, moving ONLY one .rpack file to the "data" folder, then compress all the remaining files (Pratically, the entire game, if you move the smallest .rpack file) makes it almost the same as Yener's conversion. So yes, BOTH works! o/
