Yes I see that, but actually I need something like an extra readme button, 'cause I already use the manual button and the readme button, the other one I want it for make a url call button so I can add the Fileforums CD/DVD Conversion Forum to my autorun.

an user asked me how he can port part "codepart" of CIU to CI.
But you should know CIU is based on CI.
so why not using it??
in the first page, i just ported Theme of the CI to CIU.
So you can see, thats also easy.

The Ultimate in CIU means much more posibilitys then before.
you dont need to use them.

In Setup.ini are big differences.
On CIU its much much more clean.

File differences in CIU
Autorun.jpg -> Autorun.png
Installer.jpg -> Installer1.png
-> you can add more files like Installer2.png, Installer3.png..
If you click next, automaticly next background will be taken
SmallInstaller.jpg -> SmallInstaller.png

PNG FILES DOESNT REQUIRE ANY TRANSPARENT PART
-> just open Autorun.jpg and save it as Autorun.png

Some clarification:
ChangeFrame feature only required if the form or the border between Installer1.png and InstallerX.png is different.
so it reloads completely the installer.
try not to use this feature. you will feel some lag^^

i have downloaded the new freearc 0.67 and it contains serp and precomp compression meaning that we can use it through freearc-i think- http://imageshack.us/a/img46/7555/22405455.jpg
but every time i try to do that i can't extract the .arc file it always gives an error when you try to install the game saying that it's not serp compressed file

In CIU 1.0.0.5 is a small "bug" on page autorun.
If you put the music button (Traditional) and Equalizer button. By clicking the music button, stop the music and the equalizer button stops.
But if you click on the equalizer button, the music stops, but the music button not change the button image (to off).

* If possible next CIU upgrade this "bug".

I still prefer using Windows XP, but I have windows 7 on another HD.
In windows XP, I tried everything to create the image .bmp in GIMP for CIU. There was no way the same.
I figured out what was going wrong. Paint Windows XP does not properly save the image. I found a solution. I'm using the "RealWorld Paint". It's free. Only it has to go save as, and select 1-bit pallete, and replace.

you mustn't, try to make a bat convertor.
if you make them the same. you'll have problems extracting installer files either can't make freearc files using freearc.

can give you tips on making a bat/convertor,

This is normal in loading the full screen of the installer based on the CIU 1.0.0.5?
It load the transparency image on startup. (Mask BMP image).
It happens in other installers based CIU I did download.
Or is it because the PC has low settings? Core 2 Duo E4500 (2.2 GHz), 3 Gb RAM.

Freearc is faster then the system. its normal. after you put correct file in dvd1 it should be fixed.

I put the installer for FreeArc to Print image. (Takes 1 Second so ever).
Even though, Compression = none (Before recording in midea).
Must be PC (slow).

* -m1f -a4 now is default compression mode, for quick and dirty compression. Use -m3f -a1 for maximum compression
* 32-bit version became 1.5x faster than in SREP 3.0
* gcc64 version: srep64g.exe. srep32i/srep64i still are the fastest executables
* bugfix: it was impossible to allocate more than 4 GB for bitarr[]
* bugfix: 32-bit version now uses only 1.5 GB for future-lz decompression by default (instead of 4GB-1 that's too much)


Changes in the printed stats:

* cpu time displayed now is the sum of times spent in *ALL* threads
* cpu/global times and speeds are printed, with speeds measured in MiB/s
* on future-lz decompression, I/O and VM stats are printed only when they are non-zero

Good question! This function returns an Integer which is, probably, 32 bit unsigned (max. 4GB - 1) or, even more probably, 31 bit signed (min. -2GB, max. 2GB - 1). I think you'd have problems even with a 2 GB vieo card as this function will return 0 (or a negative value?) for them.

Try to print the return value of the GetVidMemLocal function onto the screen. I think you'll get zero. Perhaps, adding this as the first condition:

if VidRam=0 then vr:=1024
else [...]

would help as all video cards have video RAM (onboard or system shared) anyway so zero is never a valid value.

i have this bug on yener90 crysis 3 conversion, this bug from mediaplayer.dll library, alsow this bug is in other same library (e.g DXVideo.dll). This is not codecs problem (i'm almost sure), if you don't have this conversion (or any other with mediaplayer.dll and video) download and try.

reduce the shadow of the text look for [smallInstaller] in setup.ini
there is shadow=60 by default reduce it to 50 or 40 then the text and progress bar will not overlap whit the buttons.

doesn't work that's wired with the sitting you mention it worked for me if the video is in the background folder in setup.cab it should work but you can always switch to CIU 1.0.0.6
which is more easy about the video files and to answer your question no nothing to write about the video in the setup.ini

codecs must be installed, for example: K-Lite Codecs.

NOT really an issue with freearc, but actually Default Temporary Folder in C:\
you are running out of room for extraction / temp files / etc., during unpacking part.

goto control panel > system > advanced system settings. goto bottm environment variables. top window change TEMP / TMP folder location, to another drive with LOTS of space. ( The Drive / Folder MUST BE CREATED before you change it there )

There is also another set of these locations in bottom window, change those as well.
Exit out after making changes & reboot PC, NEVER have another issue with running out of room again for temp folder, as its no longer on C:\ !!!!

Just remember to empty it out once in a while..

I made all the steps but keep getting the error, I change the temp folder to a drive with 100gb of free space

I ran your bat file, changed the files as needed, & ran the setup.
The ONLY thing that got extracted was the uninstall. The data.cab is too big to fit on 1xdvd5 @ 4.42GB ( autorun / setup files only 50 MB extra ) Using freearc 0.666 not 0.067.

oops i forgot to says that i did delete the video from the setup.cab.its weird i have updates patches and included the lastest no cd before the compression.its very weird.let me do my install and get the exact size on my install with keep u updated.

just open data.cab & post what files / folders you have there.

Too many conversions were being posted elsewhere, with the writers credentials removed. For awhile they stopped writing them altogether, & as such the forum suffered without their input. The source has been given to them & they now write the conversions, without including the updated source. You follow the instructions to create the cabs & the setup extracts it into your choice of location. Its the only way to protect their work, & IF / WHEN they choose to change that it's up to them alone.

Use whats been posted as open source & create using that.

I think when i cancel the installation using button cancel on SmallInstaller.

I noticed other thing in finished page. If i disabled the music during install, when the finished page appears, the equalizer button is enabled with stripes frozen.

Oh, my god, copy protection on free software, that's sick! Real life just doesn't work this way. You need to change your attitude towards your users instead and accept that your stuff will be reused. If you don't like that, don't release stuff.

Dudes, uninstall errors are happening because of the protection.

I will rebuild uninstaller for CIMetro.
Then will port it over to CIU.

New CIU + CIMetro will not have an included Setup.ini configuration, when using internal :)

And I see that only those that create conversions have that version, and if you tneido problems with other users, I guess we have to blame others.

Referring to the bug (bug in music button) in my conversion Darksiders 2. I think I found a solution.
In your Script CIU 1.0.0.6 (InstallScript.iss) I changed two lines in InstallScript.iss.
Lines: 3339 and 8018

I changed to:

thats the wrong way to execute it. you have your setup files ( how it would be IF it were it a setup.cab ) in a Setup folder then execute the setup.cab cryptor. this makes the setup.cab with password, also adds the encrypted password line to setup.ini.

I'm having some problems lately, and I'm not sure is it CIU related or not, but my cab files (packed with Fabiodq and Peterf1999 method) won't unpack during installation. It says Compression method unknown bla, bla, bla and the installation stops. I've made couple of conversions but I can't test them properly because of this. I really don't know what's the problem. I haven't had it before.

P.S.
I've tried CIU 1.0.6 and older ones. It's the same on all of them.

Let's say we put example as a default serial number. Here's what I mean:

It depends on how does the serial key looks in the registry. Of course, the maker of the installer needs to enter this example so the end user would know how to enter its serial key because some games change their serial key form in the registry as you've mentioned . I hope you know what I mean :)

thanks, but you dont understand the question. I already have a cursor but with 12x17 pixels dimmension, and the ciu automatically rezise to 32x32 and thats why looks like shit the cursor. Don't accept custom size cursors.

Anyway I already post the conversion and I use another cursor.

That means that you should:

1. Write your own script for the conversion and prove that script is yours.

or

2. Use someone else's script (Like Yener's CI/CIU) but leave credits about the author of the script.
He wrote that because lots of people stole his script, removed credits about the author and publish it under their own name. That's also the reason why all recent conversions are "Closed Source" and source is given only to those that are proven to be trustworthy not to remove credits.

Of course, if you are the author of the script that "made" the final .exe file, you can protect it with password.
You can find more info in Guides that are posted as stickies in this section.

I hope this satisfies your questions. If not, ask more :)

Well I'm a creator pc game repacks and from the first time you enter this forum and learned a bit how to manage yener90 script, I always put in my credits as the author of the script.

Conversions because I do not know much, but I tried the handle that conversion by a bat with the Arc does not come out lol.

Only I'm good at editing a script and add to fresh one game to create a repack, with the quality of a script created by yener90 who like more than the black box.

And you think we do well what I'm sorry but that's all you are doing and if you want a demonstration of what I do I pass some links soon.

And I'm sure that will be the reason why I won't use yener's or someone else script.....and I don't like to download already done conversions because they are not made by me. Script is another thing, but all other things (buttons, fonts, images....) I like to create and include by myself.

There is also compression methods, How do you know when to use some method and when to use another one....srep, precomp......

And I suck at that part of the job.


People who stole yener's script - they can release it under its name, BUT everyone who see script that is 1% similar to yener's script will know who is the real author of the script, right.


I think I will just continue using program I'm using for a long time.

I use on installer page, But you still use Button.png too. Otherwise the buttons will not appear.

Tip: When I want to use different buttons, i always set Button.png and ButtonSelected.png with the size 1x1. So i can use the buttons below and not have any issue.

Back.png, Next.png, Cancel.png, Music.png.
BackSelected.png, NextSelected.png, CancelSelected.png, MusicSelected.png.
BackClicked.png, NextClicked.png, CancelClicked.png, MusicClicked.png.

Diferent buttons for SmallButtons:

SmallButton.png, SmallMusic.png, SmallCancel.png.
SmallButtonSelected.png, SmallMusicSelected.png, SmallCancelSelected.png.
SmallButtonClicked.png, SmallMusicClicked.png, SmallCancelClicked.png.

I use this system since the CIU 1.0.0.3. But i cant remember if CIU 1.0.0.6 has support for all these features. :(

I am using this script to compress my files:

Precomp version is 0.43.

and changed the values in setup.ini to this:

But still when I run the setup it doesn't install anything. What am I doing wrong?

I cant get the extraction to work at all. The setup just say installation finished without giving me a error. When i see the files in program files nothing has been installed.

whose conversion script are you using ?

it wasn't released at the time the script was made, so whatever version of CI / CIU you are using means you have to use that version of precomp it supports.

And is there more then 1 dvd ? it may be looking to finish something & cant find it ??

It has to do something with setup.cab. I have deleted all pngs except for autorun, Installer1, SmallInstaller because I am using Setup.cjstyles. When i add all the pngs back the setup doesn't give the above error. So how do I eliminate the error.

im not sure, just about the exact same issues with my conversion using 1006 as well, but there isn't any cjstyles file in cab file, so im at a loss whats causing it.

1.0.0.6 version is the last open version. Try make the work from the scratch again. Works for pakrat.

I have no idea about this error. :( Has a long time I don't use this version. I think I never had this error.

Try remove the cjstyles;
Check the Setup.ini and Setup.cab to see if has any error, like wrong words, wrong arguments, files in the wrong folders, etc;
Try make from the scratch again;

there is no error with v1006, you CANT remove those 2 png files, leave them there. Search thru installscript.iss for button.png & you find it all thru the script, same for smallbutton.png.

Just change the images to what you want, correct values in setup.ini if different size then original image.

everything is in setup.ini, you don't ever edit ISS script, except maybe to add reg entries. Setup.ini, is where you change position of buttons, size of images ( autorun, installer etc ), wether or not you want music / cancel button or just icon.

the answer to your question is have an avi file named video.avi in backgrounds folder, it will play then any images in that folder will show after end of video.
